I was so glad i turned it down:) he said he saved me some.
Also can anyone tell me what do you take with you on long trips to keep from eating veggie sandwiches along the way?
Thanks.
Can't wait to go on the trip, excited we'll be staying in the downtown area so if there is any place to eat please let me know.
Thanks

There are no raw places to eat as far as I know. I think Ann Arbor has a raw restaurant, but that's 45 minutes away from Detroit. I live in Royal Oak, a suburb, and there is a great vegetarian restaurant right down the street from me. They have lovely salads. It's called Inn Season Cafe. You might just have to stick to hitting the fruit market daily and eating simply. There is a really big farmers market in Detroit on the weekends. Hope this helps

Check out the rawrestaruantguide....you can always take a blender and make smoothies, stick with Salads. I don't know, I am almost in the same situation...I am going to the Islands, I plan to make and take Fruit Leathers, maybe Fast a few days, see if a Cocanut falls to the ground. It is something you sure can stress about.

You don't need raw food restaurants...I've actually never been to one and have been raw for a while now.

I know we don't need to go to a raw resturant but we'd never been thought it would be nice.
Also thanks for the ideas on staying raw while out of town, really needed them.

another good trick is to take salad dressing with you so you know you'll have some for salads at restaurants. i usually just do oil and vinegar and braggs or something like that. but not lemon juice because it will spoil if you don't have a fridge.

Ahh, welcome to my world! I really wish there were some raw food restaurants in Michigan. I only know about juice bars!
Some good juice bars:
Zerbo's in Livonia (about 30 min from Detroit)
Better Health in Novi (about 45 min from Detroit)
Om Cafe in Ferndale has some interesting dishes (15 min from Detroit)
Magdalena's Tea House is far from Detroit...about an hour (in Lansing) and I have never been to it, but it's the only one I know of that actually professes to have "raw" food idshes. Check out their hours though because they seem limited.
Hope that helps! Check back at www.michiganrawfood.com too as I try to keep adding more restaurants. I hope i discover some more! :)

As for traveling, I find raw foods are great...fruits and vegetables in a plastic container, and no plastic wrappers to throw away!
I also like to take those health food bars...Prana.
Those are good snacks, although not 100% raw!

I slice yellow peppers into little boats and fill them with avocado. Top with some sea salt or Herbamare and it's the perfect snack. I bring a small bowl/plate thing and just cut up the veggies on my lap in the car.

the folks there used to serve a raw lunch a few times a week, but they may have stopped-check it out though.

Yeah, while it would be nice to have restaurants to go to where you aren't limited to ordering the garden salad with no dressing, my *personal* favorite "restaurant" is the produce section of any supermarket. all kinds of ready-to-eat foods.
Why not grab a bunch of fresh stuff and take a picnic blanket and sit in a sunny park and dine in style? :)

But if my hubby is not familiar with a place he won't, he very careful about where he is going and not knowing the area makes him even more so.
We may have one at the hotel:D
Thanks

So TRUE...The produce section is a raw restaurant. Just bring your utensils to cut stuff up and a small cutting board and yer set.
