Hi All
I was born with hypothyroid and have been taking thyroid meds forever and am told I will have to for the rest of my life. I've recently adopted a vegan-raw diet and i've been doing a lot of research online. I have come across several natural thyroid supplements was wondering if anyone has tried any of these : Thyrax, Alvidar, Thyromine and Thyroid Essentials. I'm new on here and I would appreciate any advice or info anyone has to offer. Thanks!!!! :)

I have used Armour Thyroid now for a bit and it works for me. It is natural but not vegan so that may not be an option for you. Never heard of those you mention.

Read my testimony. You do NOT have to take thyroid meds the rest of your life...that's bullspit!!! I'm proof and I dare any medical professional to dispute this...

look into bladderwrack seaweed. there was an article in the raw magazine "purely delicious" about seaweed that said that up to 5 grams a day of bladderwrack has been shown to have similar effect to thyroid meds. sorry, dont have any further references on this.

I read somewhere that eating raw cabbage like in cole slaw tends to slow down the thyroid. The article did not say how much one had to eat though. I think it probably has to be eaten on a daily basis but not sure.

I personally have eaten raw cabbage (in the form of sauerkraut and also slaws) from day one going raw. My thyroid is healed. But, every BODY is different...
I know if you increase your sea greens that will definitely help.

The plant family that slows thyroid function includes cabbage, broccoli, cauli, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale, brussels, arugula. (crucifers)
A little of these could definitely be overcome by sea veg for iodine. But for me, i was green smoothie-ing various kales and turnip greens every day plus having homemade saurkraut, coleslaws, brocolli basically all day long :-) and I wondered why the raw diet wasn't helping my thyroid. So I will report back when I am off my armour thyroid!

Thank you all so much for your advice. I'm going to try some of this stuff out. I'm not sure if I should stop taking the meds all together and try it or try it while taking the my meds??
