Hey! This is my first post!!! I am so glad to be getting some help - I need it!! Okay, I was 100% raw for about three months, three years ago. Then I ate SAD for three years, had had enough and decided to go raw again. However, after 28 days of as close to 100% as I could, I had to slow down the detoxing because I was having major reactions, probably due to the toxics being released into my blood stream ( I am not sure which is why I am here!!). For example, well, mostly they were skin issues, like my eye swelling up, two days in a row from a little bit of itchiness ( very odd for me). My lips took on a life of their own and I had fever blister type things and severe dryness ( very odd). It was all too much!
So, as far as I can figure, I needed to help the toxins go out of my system a little better. I got some acidopholous, some ground flax and bought an enema! I have read that, and feel I probably need one, that a colon cleaning is probably in order ($$) but in lieu of doing that, I figured an enema might be an idea. How often do I do one? Any toher advice or suggestions from former heavy detoxers?? Heeeelp!:) Have a great day, ya'll!

Get in a warm bath with some epsom salts. It helps speed the detox along whilst feeling very soothing. You can try the enema; if you google enema you should find some instructions. It's pretty simple.
Don't eat cooked food! Stick with the raw food, and you will be over this bout of detox in no time. It's not permanent; most of my detox symptoms would come for 3 days at a time, about once a month.

do the enema for sure. you could do 2/ week for a few weeks, then go down to one a week for life (if you want).

but before you do the enema, you might want to consider getting a herbal colon cleanser. the important thing is to get one that uses herbs to stimulate the intestines to move matter (like ones containing magnesium). just adding more fiber can actually dehydrate you and give you more headaches ect.

if you do that, you'll push out alot of matter so you can go deeper with your enema. but don't wait to start your enemas.

of course eventually going to hydro colon therepy will be very beneficial.
also sweating it out helps, not as much as through the intestines thought.
skin brush every day and go to a sauna whenever possible. of course drink TONS of water (especially when cleaning the intestines)

you do all that and you just might go through the whole 'tranisitioning/detox' phase hardly feeling it.

Thanks, ya'll, sooo much. The page with your name on it isn't in front of me, but I think it is rawstrength - you said your detoxing symptoms lasted for a couple of days, maybe once a month, I believe. Is that typical for anyone else? I ask because the lips thing was a little out of hand. What happened was I used an off brand of Chapstick on a day when I was outside quite a bit ( I work outside) and OMG, they were really messed up! Blistery things, dry, really a mess. And they stayed that way for a while! The swelling of the eye part did only last two days and stopped, but I am definitely freaked out by this. Thanks for your responses - it helps so much! The herbal cleanse is a great idea! Thanks again!!

The lip symptoms sound like a allergic reaction. Perhaps to the chapstick?
Drink plenty of water. If you need something for your lips, stick to natural substances like coconut oil. Keep on going! I wish you the best!

REST when you're detoxing! & exercising can help sweat it out quicker, & help you feel better...
...chapstick in the sun can mess up your lips, for sure! Ever read the list of ingredients?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burt's beeswax makes a great lipbalm!

Start your morning's with a glass or 3 of lemon water...gentle, but effective!
Stick with it, keep goin', & press on to the other side! Once you get through it, you'll be amazed at the difference!

My detox generally lasts a week at a time, and consists of severe headaches (comparable to migraines) and lots of general aches and pains in my arthritic joints...

Once I'm through a week of "hell", then I have 75% smooth sailing, 25% bumps and rough spots.

Which is 75% better than when I'm eating SAD!!! :D

Hang in there, and DO NOT EAT COOKED FOOD. It only PROLONGS the agony/detox for later!!! :D

I've been thinking about this since it happened - when my symptoms got to be too much, I started eating little bits of cooked food to try to slow it down - I got a little out of hand with it - anyway, I have renewed faith that I can make it through detoxing my body with ya'lls help. So, today, I made it through the day 100% raw and am hopefully back on the right path. However, what helped me was when I had decided to go ahead and get something cooked, "Don't eat cooked food" came through loud and clear. It was in response to my first post - it helped! I am digging this site sooo much. This is the only way to go and stay raw!!!!!:D
