Why is it that people think green food is gross? Everytime I have a green smoothie or green juice people think it's disgusting. I don't understand why people think that food shouldn't be green?

IMO green = health. And since most sad eaters don't eat enough greens - they are not healthy and they don't get to enjoy the vitality that the greens give. Sad, very sad...

Isn't it funny that people don't have ANY problems drinking stuff that's brown(coke, coffee etc.) or bright neon colors (sports drinks etc.) but when it's bright, natural green...they freak out! All of a sudden it's "weird" and "gross"
sigh...:rolleyes:

I agree. I will be drinking a green smoothie or eating homemade red sauerkraut and someone will walk up and say What are you eating??!!(as they bite into a twinkie...):rolleyes:

My biggest complaint is how bad grocery store food tastes. Broccoli straight out of the garden is very sweet. When I get it in a store or restaurant it's tasteless or bitter.

A woman I used to work with didn't want me to have it on my desk, but she kept cigarettes on hers.

My experience is that people want to try my foods I bring to work. And when I bring veggies, then even ask for them. I never ask them, they ask me.
Most people don't know how make green veggies taste awesome. They have their typical gross iceburg lettuce salads with vinegar. That's all they know. They wouldn't think to make a salad with avocado's, vine tomatoes, uniquely chopped kale, minced garlic, nuts, seeds, and fresh sea salt...
Even if they make a salad their taste buds are likely numbed from the SAD foods they already eat, so they wouldn't enjoy it like we do. I know that I could eat a green pepper alone and at that moment I wouldn't want anything else.

I have wondered this same thing many times!
People at work always comment on the yuck factor of my smoothies and it seems a natural reaction to green. My kids are yucked by it and it took me some getting used to, now I LOVE my greens! They make me feel so great! Maybe someone out there knows of a reason. :p

I honestly do believe part of it is how many have had overcooked, mushy, canned, processed-to-death greens (& all veggies) FORCED on 'em as kids!
{Popeye may've liked spinich like that, but my brothers sure didn't~! I didn't mind, though, but prefered it raw in salads!}
(I grew up lovin' produce cuz we got to make the salad & put whatever we wanted in it...I always put apple, raisins, & baby mashmellows! Lol! & we had veggies & dip frequently!)
One way I get people to try my green smoothies is I put blueberries in 'em! Hides the greens, & then when I tell 'em there's spinich, or kale, or lettuce or whatever in there, they don't belive me, cuz they can't taste it!

I had some house guests this weekend. When I was making my green smoothie, I put all the fruit in and the spinach in last. One of my guests said that the smoothie looked really good until I put that in. I was thinking that it was the best part :D but she didn't believe me when I told her how good it was. I can only imagine what she would say if she saw the "green" smoothies that I make with blueberries and tons of greens, they look like brown sludge but taste soooooo good! :)

Yeah, I agree that that's part of it. That's definitely a big one. I also think that the color green reminds them of other unappetizing things such as swamp water. Green has gotten a bad rep. The girl from The Exorcist spewed green vomit!! :eek:

In the nearly 6 months I've lived with my roommate, I've never seen him eat a salad or anything resembling greens.

My husband sees me drinking my green smoothie and would NEVER in a million years drink one, on account of the way it looks, which to him looks like pond sludge - LOL! Actually, I ENJOY the way it looks, a very earthy, powerful and nourishing/cleansing elixir. To me, since I love green veggies, green symbolizes life!
