View Full Version : Do you snack throughout the day or eat meals?

I've been noticing that I usually feel better when just nibbling throughout the day without any actual big meals. Not that I usually make it through the day like this, but during the time that I do (usually the morning) is when my digestion feels best. Usually after eating a big meal I feel sluggish and my stomach gets upset, even if it is only a big salad!
I was just wondering if anybody else has noticed any benefit to just eating small amounts of food very frequently instead of meals.

I usually eat one bigger meal a day and then eat smaller meals/snacks all day long. I work 12 hour shifts and I take enough snacks to eat something every two hours.

It's probably better for your digestion to eat smaller meals or graze.. Grazing isn't bad for you when you're doing RAW since you're eating good foods. I'm not eating meals either really. I just eat whenever I'm hungry even though I'm full sooner because I think I've got possibly gas or something making me full even though I haven't eaten much.

I graze all day long.
Seriously! I'll have a smoothie, then some fruit, then lunch, then another "snack", then dinner, then yet another "snack". I eat so much nowadays, it's crazy good!!! :p

Me, too. The only times I go more than a couple hours are when I'm out with the kids and didn't pack anything. Even when we get groceries, we'll all eat an apple in the car or my favorite treat from Whole Foods is to get a few dried figs and dried papaya spears with my stuff. I only buy enough for a snack so I'm not eating "candy" all the time :-)

I like waiting a while before I eat. My food tastes better that way.

I get two 20 min. breaks and one 1/2 hour lunch at work and I always have something to eat. It's usually a small snack like fruit or a laura bar on my breaks and a decent size salad for lunch. Of course I eat breakfast (something light like apples or cherries) and then a green smoothie for dinner

I just eat when I'm hungry. I try to do something around breakfast time, lunch time, and dinner time. But sometimes I'm not hungry then so I don't eat then and sometimes I'm hungry for a lot so I eat a lot and sometime just and apple or something small.

I'm a snacker. I eat simple small meals and eat lots of small things throughout the day. I always have to have things like fruit, crackers, & nuts on me or I get cranky.

It depends. Sometimes I graze, sometimes I eat meals. I do what I feel my body wants on any given day and what is convenient. I do believe that it's healthier to graze or eat small meals 5-6 times per day than to eat 3 or 4 larger meals. Sometimes it's more convenient to do one or the other on a specific day.

I tend to eat my main meal in the afternoon and have fruit in the morning and snacks in the evening.

Most days I eat a good breakfast---4 or 5 pieces of fruit or a gs, a hefty lunch -- big salad, nut cheese or pate`, more fruit, mid-afternoon--more fruit, and then graze through the evening after I've gone swimming or to yoga, or done a bike ride. I fast one day a week--water only, but more like every other week during biking season.

Over time, raw makes me not want to snack. I only eat 2 to 3 meals a day. Or if I eat 2 meals, I might snack once with a Lara bar, because I am in classe when hungry.

I'm definitely a grazer! But I feel like I'm always eating and never really getting full -- and then when I get home at night and don't have my organized little snacks that I've packed for the day - I eat EVERYTHING in sight! Good news is "everything in sight" is raw... but still! A container of brownies - GONE, onion bread - GONE, crackers - GONE, almonds - GONE!
Unfortunately I live in a one bedroom apt. so the kitchen is right there!
ANY SUGGESTIONS TO KEEP THIS GRAZER FROM TURNING INTO A COW??

Since, going Raw I tend to snack and eat more. Not sure why that is yet. But, I do know that the nutrition we are getting should keep us satiated. However, (I forget what thread) someone posted that Raw doesn't feel you full like Sad food so, we might b seeking that same fullness feeling and it seeking it until we get used to a more natural fullness.

I eat frequent small meals whenever I feel like it. I eat a simple and easy lifestyle. I eat fruits for the first part of my day and then later eat veggies and greens. The simpler I do raw the better it works for me.
