Help!

I have more than one medical problem, and I'm trying to improve some, if not all, first with fasting, then with raw food.

First, I have a fistula which may require surgery. For that, I'm scared $#!^less - I had a colon resection about 4 or 5 yrs ago and the recovery was very painful. It's a very delicate operation to say the least.

I also have diverticulitis, which may have led to the previous and perhaps current fistula(s). Because of an horrible recent attack I started juice fasting, along with two powerful antibiotics to prevent emergency surgery. And I have high blood pressure and fibromyalgia.

Wow, do I ever sound like a basket case!!!

Right now I've been fasting for a week - mostly juice fast, but some days just water and herbal tea (maybe I should eliminate the tea, but I have NO money right now - and our water tastes awful... a water filter is, hopefully, in my future).

Just wanted some input on whether I should continue with the juice fast (the juicer I picked up doesn't do greens very well at all) or go into raw foods.

I need to improve my health fast - and lose weight as fast as possible, also.

Thanks, gingincal & spicyfull!

I'm making sure I do prayer/relaxing/mediation times - I check my BP before & after, and it really makes a difference.

I know that 55 yrs of bad eating/bad health won't go away overnight. And I'm giving myself a pat on the back for fasting this long - never thought I'd ever be able to do it!

hmmm i don't feel like anyone really answered your question...

i would juice feast. it doesn't have to be expensive. you can juice and even squeeze out the pulp from your juicer to make sure you are getting the most juice for your buck!

watermelon juice goes a long way and is super yummy. great for cleansing your bladder!

if you need health fast and relief fast... juicing is the way to go!

but that is simply my opinion... doesn't mean i'm right.

Thanks so much.

I decided it was time to break my fast. I am SOOOOO happy - I did it for more than a week - more than I could have ever imagined, and food never tasted so good to me.

Have to share this: I went to my primary care yesterday - I lost 12 lbs!!! Woo-hoo!! (Last time I saw her, I had lost 5 lbs - but since then, after fracturing my elbow & getting really depressed as a result, I gained 9. But that was before raw...)

Last night I had just a piece of cantaloupe (so easy to digest) - oh, and I found an awesome recipe for a pea-hummus. I had to use self control to only eat a little bit.

If I had the right type of juicer, I may have been able to last longer - but I know well (did hours upon hours of research yrs ago before I bought my Green Star.. now gone, :( ) that the cheap, whirly juicers kill the enyzmes fruits and veggies - frankly, I don't think I was getting much nutrition, and the tap water didn't help. I did pick up a couple of gallons of spring water, as that's all I can afford right now. A water filter is in my future.... as well as a dehydrator and one of those spiral cutting thingys. :)

In the meantime, I'm holding off on the new beta-blocker my dr gave me, using everything I can that's natural to bring my BP down.

I'm a very happy lass today!

hey, threedogs, are you still around?

i want to know what happened... i'm struggling with an undiagnosed source fistula right now that seems to be spreading, and i'm curious to know what's helped other people.

i keep finding these old forum posts of people with their questions from years ago that echo the questions in my head, and i want to know what the results of action were!
