View Full Version : Does the Tree Of Life have support for people with eating disorders?

I've been battleing with an eating disorder for 2 years and my parents want to admit me to a program. The only problem is that they are going to force me to eat cooked food. I totally believe raw food is the best food for the body and have been mostly raw for over a year. I'm scared that if I go into this program my body will react violently to the cooked food. My body is really sensitive both from eating raw food and not eating enough. My parents also think that I need to eat cooked food inorder to recover.
Are there any raw food centers that work with eating disorder pacients? I have to figure something else out by tomorrow afternoon or I won't have any choice.

dancer, i honestly don't know the answer... i would call TOL first thing in the morning and ask. my suspicion is that they may be able to help as they have MDs on staff... i think the programs with doctors on staff are going to be your best bets, i'm not sure what other centers have them. if they say they don't have an appropriate program for your needs, ask them for other suggestions.
good luck on your recovery, i'll be keeping you in my thoughts. please keep us updated!

I understand that your parents love and want to help you overcome a very serious issue. You can contact Tree of Life. I'd also get in touch with Hippocrates in West Palm Beach. They have psychologists on staff and offer a lot of support to their patients. Gary Null offers retreats in Florida and his program is based primarily on raw foods. If you contact him, I'm sure he'd offer referrals or let you know whether he has a retreat coming up. He's a very motivating person.
I wish you the best. I support your wanting to remain raw. If you did participate in a program which features cooked food, the problem is not only that the food is cooked but it would be cooked food of a particularly low quality. You need to rebuild your body and need expert care.
Please let us know whether any of these recommendations show promise.
