My husband and I have been thinking about doing the Raw Food diet for awhile. I have a few questions.
I have done some research online and am now confused as to if the raw food diet is only eating foods that have never been cooked or if it is basically eating unprocessed foods.
Does the raw food diet include the following, soy milk, tofu, peanut butter, whole wheat flour, beans?
We eat a ton of bread at out house, what will be be able to substitue that with.
I am not sure that we can go 100% raw, will there be a benifit if out diet is 80% raw.
Thanks in advance for your help.:p

Continue to read on this site. Also purchase Alissa's book and DVD.
Raw food is consuming nothing cooked, processed or altered. Dehydration is different. It does not destroy the enzymes. When one consumes foods that are cooked, processed, or altered, the enzymes are destroyed and one has to tape into one's body's enzymes to help digest the foods. When one is NOT tapping into the body's supply, but eating foods that come with their own enzymes, your body can heal (read my testimony).
Does the raw food diet include the following, soy milk, tofu, peanut butter, whole wheat flour, beans? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
Beans can be sprouted, but they are hard on one's body.
Read, read, read... and read some more...
Good luck

I would think that if you found some peanuts butter made from raw peanuts and the processing didn't get to warm, it would be considered raw. Peanuts can be tricky though, due to aflatoxins (which can be on other nuts and grains as well....).

try some other nut butters... but yes, if you got raw peanuts you could totally make peanut butter from them... and it would be raw. :)
may i ask... why do you both want to try raw? are there health issues you want to heal?

The RAW VEGAN diet (the diet promoted on this website) does not include the foods that you mentioned, as veganforlife stated. I have read that raw peanuts don't taste very good, and that is one of the main reasons they are generally not included in this diet. The raw vegan diet is made up of essentially raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and sprouted grains. Raw refers to foods that have not been heated to 112 degrees or higher, as it destroys the enzymes in the food, along with most of the food's vitamins and minerals.
There are many raw bread recipes. Try typing in "bread recipes" in the search box on this site and see what comes up.
Yes, you will experience health benefits from going 80% raw. Needless to say, your benefits will be more profound if you go 100% raw. Don't count out that option.
Good luck!!

and remember... it's more important what you don't eat, than what you do.
removing bread (all wheat products), pasta and white sugar from your diet is step one!

Thanks for the advice.
We are both fairly healthy, but he has random joints that swell. Mainly in his hands, this is very painful for him. He has seem several dr.s who cannot explain why this happend. We have cleaned up our diet a lot in the last 2 years and he seems to have much less trouble with his joints. He is considering the idea that going raw may show further improvments for him. Since I do all the cooking it just makes sense that I would eat the same food he does.
Thanks again.

Raw food is almost everything in the produce section of the grocery store, plus things like dried and frozen fruit, nuts and seeds. There is a handful of other things too like agave nectar, brewers yeast and seaweed.
To substitute bread and pastas you need carbs like fruit, especially dried fruits like raisins and dates.
What your husband has sounds like a food reaction, especially since it's not a constant thing, so changing your diet might help.

I'd put some money on his condition being helped by the RAW diet!

Most raw peanuts are also toxic, so beware! The only safe raw peanuts are jungle peanuts, and I think they taste a bit more like cashews anyway!
