What are you doing to prepare?

I tanked in May when I tried the challenge, mostly in the evenings on cooked veggies (thankfully, no SAD foods...our garden is so productive and I have a family of 5 that still eats cooked foods). So, I let it go and spent May and June doing what felt right with raw (80- 90%), eating cooked veggies/rice when I craved it and experimenting with raw food goodies.

Going into July's challenge I am making sure to keep things on hand that I know will help me in a pinch. I will be sure to have:

~raw crackers
~nut cheese
~all manner of washed and cut veggies (I know, duh, but sometimes the simple things escape me)
~tahini sauce
~portobellos for dishes/dehydrator recipes (meaty)
~fruit for sweets
~plenty of smoothie/GS recipes for morning and sweet tooth cravings

I also have my journal and art journal at the ready.

What are you doing to prep?

The only thing keeping me from doing the July challenge is a cup of tea in the morning. Could I consider it a condiment=)?

I will follow the 28 day plan in Alissa's book. This past week I've been trying to use up leftovers. Today I shopped and made the designated 4 recipes plus green smoothies and a big fruit salad to last the next three work days. I meant to make a big green salad too, but it was getting late and my feet started to complain.

Well, personally, I have no problem with tea and consider it a beneficial transition drink when hot. I cold brew herb tea each day and consider it raw. I'm sure there are things I'm missing in terms of the raw police, but dried herbs cold steeped in water sounds raw to me. I don't buy irradiated foods, etc, so hopefully there are still enzymes there.

Join in! Condiment it is :p

I have switched to herbal tea from a long standing coffee habit. I no longer use any soymilk or anything in it.

WendyLouWho, how do you cold process your tea? I've been thinking about buying fresh herbs and making sun tea, also.

OK, I'm in. Thanks for making me feel included=)>

Today was my first official day. For July, I plan on drinking green smoothies 2 times a day and one large salad for lunch. I plan on keeping this as simple as possible and as inexpensive as possible since I still have my family to cook for. But they are going to be eating alot more fruit and vegies with me.
I have nuts, dates, and raw fruit to munch on in between meals. The green smoothies keep my full for hours. I added 1 teas. of coconut oil and 1 Tb flax seed to keep my feeling fuller longer

To prepare, I'm going to keep it simple. Juicy fruits in the mornings, GS for lunch, and fresh veggies and salads in the evenings. And yes, I still have to fix something for the SAD eating family, and will try not to eat any cooked this month. Was having a hard time, but ready for the challenge. And to make it easier I always plan the whole week for them so I know exactly what I'm fixing and so I don't want it.

Here's to a good month!

These are the things I'm doing:

~ Challenged my daughter to join in, (offered her extra spending $ at camp as an initiative!) so I can rid the house of anything but RAW!

~ Committing to checking in here daily, & blogging at least every 3 days...weighing in weekly, & taking my measurements today, & on the first of next month.

~ Letting people in my life know I'm doing the challenge {for extra accountability!}

~I paid a little less on bills & went to the health food store & got a few treats, {things I can never normally afford!}

~ Cleared space & gathered everything to begin longer workouts daily, including using the treadmill I have access to.

I'm also going to keep my eating simple, (but will try a few new recipes) & try to get to the Farmer's Market weekly, & keep the fridge, coldroom & counters full of a variety of produce!

Let's all have a rawsome month!!!

I've been hanging strong at 90-100% RAW for 65 days now.

I have pretty powerful motivation... eating RAW is the only way I can survive the pace I have to keep up right now. :) I have ZERO energy when eating SAD food... and I also get far more headaches, back pain, etc when on SAD.

Working 4 jobs, going to school, and doing interviews/articles/research for the children's organization prevents me from having much "me" time... plus, I take on extra projects constantly. Dumb-me, I know. ;)

But I believe in a full life.

And I live a full life.

RAW is the only way I can do that. :)

And I also have a VERY understanding life-mate who is keeping me strong, too. :) Thank you, John. *hug*

P.S. I meant "I'm excit(ed)... LOL"
