hey everyone!!!

i went raw on feb 6, 2008 and not only lost 50lbs but lost health problems too and overall have never felt better..i won't get into detail but let's just say i'm a new healthy person. right now i am feeling scared though, and i'm looking for support, words of wisdom, even shock therapy so i can nip this in the bud

the first time i ate cooked at all was last wednesday at indian restaurant, had a cooked vegetable medley. then saturday was at a pub and they brought me wrong meal and took forever getting right one. i was starrvvving and date (same guy incidentally) only had french fries that i could eat and guess what? i had one. then i could not stop. he was as shocked as i but i couldn't stop myself...i ate the rest of his and ordered another side, then barely touched the salad i ordered as my meal!!!

i think i had binge eating problem before raw and these fries set me off. after pub on way home alone i wasn't even hungry then stopped at mcbarfy d's (helloo i haven't been there in months) and got more fries. then sunday, and today, more. aggghhhh

i feel like i'm falling and i could really use support. i have family visiting from out of town and all i want to do is eat what they're eating. i swear there's something addictive in cooked food for me and i'm soo afraid i'll ruin my health again. right now i am so sick and full from 3 large mcdonalds crappp fries

Take a picture of yourself with the fries containers. Print it out and write about what you just told us on the paper next to the picture. I don't want you to forget.

It's always easier to say no to the first *french fry* than the 2nd, 3rd--and for the rest of the week etc.

It sounds to me like you are being too restrictive with your raw eating. Do you eat nuts, avacadoes and salt? I know there are addictive chemicals in most fries--but part of the problem could be you need salt and fat.

What is your plan for how youre going to stop?

I'll do that too. I'll go to family dinners and eat outside my diet and then the cravings hit over the next few days and I devour stuff that I wish that I hadn't - like an addict.

Thanks Thick!!!! This and your suggestion are very helpful. I feel like a crack junkie right now. Taking a picture is perfect, because guess what? I woke up with a cold sore the day after I ate the fries. could be coincidental, but i doubt it.....my body is saying GET THESE OUT but all i did was feed it with more everyday since. i hate abusing myself this way and feel out of control. i know i am in the right place to stop the craziness here though..thank you again : )

Cherries....you are wonderful for sharing, I feel less alone now. we are in this together, we will get to where we want to be. hang in!!

btw i did at least have wherewithall to ask the McManager (who happened to be serving me): are your fries only potatoes and oil?
him: yes, real potatoes and vegetable oils
me: ok, no salt on mine please....but what about that video SuperSizeMe?
~confused look on his face, but another customer laughing~
me: real potatoes don't take that long to digest!!
him: there's no such movie (laughing and walking away)

If I need to get back to a clean diet, I buy a watermelon and cut it all up. I put it in containers and eat all of it in one day. It feels so cleansing and healthy that by the time it's gone I don't want anything heavy. It it's evening and my watermelon is gone, I might have a nice salad. I feel really good the next day which makes me want to stay clear and raw. I wish you the best! You can do it!

How'reya doin' today, Pitaya? better, I trust!
Keep pressin' on, one day at a time, & victory comes before you know it!

& Shashibala, I love your watermelon day idea, makes total sense, & I'll definately be keeping it in mind...
{not that I'm planning to break raw or anything!!! Thank-goodness we finally moved away from M'Death's!!!}

it sounds to me that the truth of the power of raw foods have awakened you already. you know the beauty, health and happiness that comes with raw.

so this is just a set back, almost inevitable. we all will experience times like that.

but it sounds to me like you have a tremendous amount of strength in you. and you will pull yourself back in line.

i find a couple days of not seeing people/restaurants is all i need to regain my strength.

focus on your favourite raw treats and you will be back.

get victoria boutenko's '12 steps to raw' book awesome tips on how to deal.

hey there...
So im not alone!! i have been struggling with raw ever since i started ... i know that it really is the best choice for me but i work in a restraunt and there are always "extra" baskets of fries... most of the time i say no but then every once in a while i say oh its just a potato! (usually when i have pms or have worked all day with nothing to eat!!) and in 2 minutes flat there gone! i really feel like i have a problem with this! it makes me feel so bad about myself... i have been vegan for a year and a half and i am really trying to make the transition to raw but i keep coming to this place:( i have been aprox 75% raw and then i ruin it all with the ff's!!! it sounds like your doing great so dont beat yourself up! as long as you keep trying you havent failed!! thats at least what i tell myself!!
