This is a big accomplishment! Fortunately there was a bounty of good food, served buffet-style instead of being stuck with sit-down serving. This was a big wedding reception for a dear friend of mine's son's wedding, and the bride's wealthy parents picked up the tab for this pretty fancy affair. Anyhow, I was a little apprehensive about possible food scenarios, and prepared to eat little or nothing if I had to or cave, but there was an area that had plenty of salad greens, fresh fruits and nuts. So I loaded up my plate a couple of times with these, and over by the giant tureen full of boiled shrimp there were plenty of lemon wedges so I could avoid the prepared salad dressings. My only swerve was one piece of California roll-style of vegetarian sushi, so that's not too bad! But you know, when I was filling up my plate with the other good stuff I mentioned, I looked at the cooked things like turkey, vegetarian lasagna, etc. and didn't want them at all! The raw lifestyle is working and changing me so I'm MUCH less tempted than ever before to eat the wrong stuff when I'm out - just thought I'd share since we DO run into challenges out there in the world. It's a process for sure!

THat is soo cool that you were able to find good food to eat and stay raw! So many times we just want to avoid social functions and are surprised when it works out so well. Good for you that you were willing to go and experience life inspite of the unknown!:D

There was no way I was going to miss this wedding affair, after all, a very dear friend of mine from 40 years ago was there, and his family too.
You see, life goes on, and one should not withdraw from it or not go to desired social functions on account of one's diet. The world out there isn't raw, and sometimes it works out that we can find fresh food, and other times we can't. If we really know in advance that the food is going to be a disaster area, then we have to provide for ourselves. Many people who are on very restrictive diets for one reason or another bring something for themselves especially in a potluck situation instead of expecting the host to provide for them.
Just got lucky this time around! But you know, unless a gathering is of hard-core fast-food eaters, there's usually SOMETHING one can eat, even if it's just some fruit from the bowl on the counter - LOL! There are many cooked food eaters who do eat a fair amount of fresh foods in the way of salads and fresh fruits - not all are junkfoodists - LOL! Although I have been to some potluck affairs where there wasn't a single fresh food in sight, or it seemed be all sweet baked stuff - frustrating when one has already had something sweet and wants something fresh and non-sweet.
