View Full Version : Questions about green smoothie fast

I am on day 4 of a green smoothie fast (is that what you call it?)
I love the smoothies ... banana, mango, blueberries, spinach cucumber and kale.
My problem is I keep getting real bad heart burn and a bad tummy ache.
I am supposed to take meds for my stomach which I am not taking. I have a long list of stomach and colon disorders. Crohns, hernia, thinning stomach lining and diverticulitis. I have had colon surgeries and a surgery for a fissure and fistula.
The only time I feel good without meds is when I do the MC or water fast.

I also smoked a lot of pot which seemed to help my tummy and the pain. However I stopped smoking when I started the green smoothie cleanse. I don't want to smoke any longer for a few reasons mainly because its illegal.

My question is how can I stop the heart burn and stomach ache? Is it because of not smoking? Am I detoxing?

Thanks Cibra

Are you sipping the Smoothies and not Gulping. You should also chew the Smoothie before you swollow.

I'm confused. How do you chew liquids? AND WHAT DOES THAT DO?
THANKS AHEAD OF TIME:confused:

Thank You spicefull. I sip the smoothies and I am not chewing. I am going to start asap.

I hope and pray I can heal my colon and tummy by going raw. I do believe I can.

Boy today has been very emotional for me. Crying for no reason. If anyone needs someone to cry with I am your girl.

It gets the digestive process started. I know this from juicing

I'm having a bad few days too. I feel like I can't get it together. I've not been eating great lately since diagnosed with heartburn and whatever it is that is making it hard to eat.. I just don't know how or what to make to eat right now.

cibra: some people find that eating fruits and vegetables together upsets their stomach. This could be due to poor food combining, as technically, fruits and vegetables don't go well together. I personally love green smoothies and fortunately have never had any stomach problems from them. But some people cannot tolerate them as well.

I will try this. I'll have the fruit in the AM and vegetables in the afternoon.

Thanks why didn't I think of that.

Is a tomatoe considered a fruit that doesn't go well with the greens? I'm wondering what my smoothie going to be like if I don't add fruit or tomatoe...

cibra, i wonder if it has to do with the fiber in the smoothies. if you aren't used to getting that much fiber it can aggravate digestive problems.

if it seems like the increase in fiber could be a culprit, maybe you could try incorporating some smoothies and some juices and then slowly work up to all smoothies.

You could also add extra water to the smoothies, so you're not taking in so much fiber at once...
...I think I remember hearing that apple cider vinegar in water helps with heartburn, also, taken just prior to eating...
...I've only had it a few times, when pregnant, & NEVER wanna experience it again!
I'm praying for you both, Cibra & Vaclare79!

Vaclare79: a tomato is an acid fruit and combines fairly with greens, according to the food combining chart in Alissa Cohen's book. I couldn't say for sure if your body will tolerate this combination well or not. That's for you to find out by experimenting.

Vaclare79 and cibra: I must make one thing clear here: I'm a big green smoothie fan and I don't want to turn people off! I generally don't think about food combining, except when I'm having stomach problems or when someone else is. I'm just putting the idea of food combining out there. It may not be the actual cause of the stomach upset that you're experiencing, cibra, but it might be. Hope you feel better.

May I ask why you are doing a green smoothie feast instead of a juice feast? It sounds like your symptoms would be better suited for a juice feast.

Ok. Thank you ya'll for your support and information. I appreciate it!!
I did think of doing a juice feast too. Might be easier on the stomach..? Gives it a rest while feeding the body, but thing is I don't know if I could possibly consume enough juice. I might try this because I'm getting a little desperate for food right now being hungry and not being able to stomach big meals...

might be easier? are you kidding me??? of course it'll be easier. your digestion pretty much shuts down during a juice feast... this gives the body a chance to do GREAT healing. a green smoothie feast requires a lot of digestion energy.

i've done both. but just so you know... i was directing my advice to the OP of this thread ;)

I read about it here ... it was you or Morn. It sounded so good I saved for a month to buy all the produce I need.

Today it seems much better. I chewed not gulped. I didn't have as much yesterday.

Ok I think I found the problem. My doc just put me on BC because of PMDD (my body is so messed up, I grew up in a machine factory and it messed me up) I notice when I take that pill it burns. So I am not going to take BC anymore.

It just dawned on me.

Somedays I feel like giving up. I am 44 too young to have the health issues I do. Now I am crying again. I just want to heal for good. I do believe raw is the way to go.

Big time detox emotionally .... I am feeling sorry for myself. :)

Hey, cibra - same here!!:( I'm 55 and have way too many health issues, many of the same (I don't have Crohn's, but some days I feel like an old lady from all these ailments!)

I have a harder time (I think.. ) with smoothies than juicing, as far as digestion goes (but I'm talking about bathroom calls). You might try regular juicing for a day or two.

{{{{{{{{{BIG hugs to you}}}}}}}}}}} It will get better!

Note to all you young people out there TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES. exercise, eat right and try not let stress get ya. Oh and avoid breathing aluminum dust mixed with coolant.

I am just thankful for the knowledge found here and the many books I have read over the years. I know I can heal. I also know I'm not given anymore then I can handle .... Just sometimes God has more confidence in me then I do. lol

Yes, I second the advice! (except, I never had experience breathing aluminum dust mixed w/coolant! I can, however, list a whole bunch of stuff NOT to do - like telling oneself 'I'll eat this one bag of chips, then I'll never eat any more again'... then somehow more than 30 years disappear..

Just sometimes God has more confidence in me then I do. lol

How true, how true!

i'll help out!

during our green smoothie feast we drank as many as we wanted.
we added chia seeds (soaked) to our smoothies
either hemp or flax oil (1-2 tsp)
and any fruit/green combo we wanted.
i bought a few books to assist with ideas...

mattye's e-book and melissa's e-book both available here:

and

hope that helps you out!

Hello,

I don't have the answers to your questions, but I also had the same experience of stomache discomfort(aches) after smoothies in the beginning. I didn't take anything for it and just continued. After about a week, the discomfort went away by itself. I now can really enjoy my smoothies.

Sure smoking is no good, but do not force Yourself to quit it,nor force Yourself to do "exactly" a smoothie fast, nor any other exact fast with all too measured beforehand.Paul Bragg was saying that organism has its own ways to fix its own problems.Let me advice You since I read it and used as well.If You wish to eat a specific food, eat it.If not,DO NOT.Your own body will hint You what to give it.Yet,keep reading staff on health, then You will not want to consume bad food anyway.Do not eat if not hungry,DO if hungry. Also do not trust Your doctors fully, they are as much ill in general as You(unlike P.Bragg for instance).Pills are not always so necessary.
