Well, we went to TJ yesterday while in Brookfield, Illinois. I wish I had taken two coolers with me as their organic produce was just great. I bought a few things from that section, but had to limit myself since we just had one cooler.

Bought two big bags of raw cashews and one bag of raw macadamia. 10 Lara Bars. Some Olives, which I'm not real sure are raw, but looked good. My hubby bought several non-raw things  . One thing I went for was the almond butter. I had intended to buy at least two jars, but decided to just buy one. I should have read the jar more carefully because what I brought home is not raw......thought the label reads as Raw Creamy Unsalted. I should have questioned it at the store since it was only 4.50 a jar. I seem to remember here that the raw almond butter at TJ cost about 7.00.

For anyone who does have TJ's true raw almond butter....what does the label say? My says Raw Creamy...but, when you read the ingrediets I find it's made with roasted almonds.

Thanks, Jodi

I have Trader Joe's Raw Almond Butter and the only ingredients are "Raw almonds" -the jar was only $4.50

Of course, I don't know if it's truely raw, but it says "raw"

Under ingredients on my jar it says: roasted almonds. I must have grabbed a wrong jar...I'm sure they had different kinds.

Thanks, Jodi

Could someone tell me what a Lara bar is? FYI: Whole Foods' raw almond butter is nearly $9.00. Thanks...

okay, I actually just came back from Trader Joe's - my jar in the fridge is a month old or so, and it looks like since I was last at TJ's, they changed their almond butters. Kinda weird.

ANyways, they didn't have the jar I have already (even though it's their brand). They had "raw" almond butter, and the ingredients listed as yours - roasted almonds, which was $4.99 or thereabouts. They had "organic raw" almond butter with the ingredients listed as raw almonds - this jar was $8.99.
I bought this jar, and will probably give away my old jar to my boyfriend. Now I am a little confused, though.

I just went last night and experienced this same thing---2 different jars were both labelled "Raw Almond Butter..." One was $4.50 & one was $7.99... After reading this post, I knew to look more carefully though... And sure enough, the cheaper one was "Raw roasted almonds" (wtf?) and the more expensive one was raw-raw. I got the $7.99 one, of course...

Fine Trophy Wife,

Lara Bars are the equivalent of raw power bars. You can get them at TJ's, Whole Foods, or any health food store. They are perfect for those of us who don't cook--like myself! I take them to work and always keep one with me in case I get in a jam. There are several wonderful flavors--my favorite being the apple pie.

TJ's has 3 different kinds of almond butter:

1. Raw Almond butter which is sold for $4-something
2. ORGANIC Raw almond butter which is sold for $7 something
3. Roasted Almond butter which is the same price as the (inorganic) raw one.

I buy #1 the most and LOVE it! :) I've made the mistake of buying roasted by not reading the jar carefully. I honestly think the ingredient list was a typo. When I accidentally bought the roasted almond butter, I tasted it and it was a totally different taste than the raw one I normally buy. They just got new labels, so I think it is a typo...but you can contact them to be sure.

So you think my label was typed wrong...since the front says Raw Creamy? Think I'll make a phone call to TJ's.

Hm, I'll be glad if it is a typo! $3 is a big difference & while I'd LOVE to buy the all-organic every time, struggling college student = not realistic right now... I'll have to look again/ask next time I go!
