You have always been so helpful and I love your thyroid success story. As I told Mindi in the above thread, I realize I have been using a lot of Brassica veg in my green smoothies (collards, kale, arugula, turnip greens, cabbage, etc) and in my meals. A lot. Maybe this explains why my iodine skin patch tests are worse now than a year ago (before raw) and my thyroid dose apparently needs to increase again. I am going to try using other greens only for awhile (romaine, spinach, etc) to see what happens. Lucy, do you use crucifers quite a bit? I was reading that increased iodine (like from sea veg) can make up for some intake of goitrogens but only up to a point so I think I've been really overdoing it. I am so thankful to have free access to health info online and to know of others' experiences.

I have heard that radishes are the only brassica family that is not hard on the thyroid.

Thanks for bumping. I don't eat a lot of the Brassica veggies (crucifers). I DO however eat a good amount of sea greens. At least daily. It's hard to say what worked for me, may NOT be right for you and your body. Back off of the crucifers and use milder greens, like spinach, romaine, etc. and see what happens. Use less sea greens (if you think you're over-doing it.) Our bodies are machines. Each different. While I may be a VW (convertible of course), you may be a Mercedes.
Experiment until you see what is right...

Thanks! Good to know you don't load up on kale as i've been doing. Yes, I'm backing way down. I love the sea veggies for now and don't feel I'm consuming too much at all (a shake of dulse, a raw nori sheet or two). I know that when the idea or smell gives me that yucko feeling then I've had enough :-)
