We're coming up on July...summertime is HERE and in full effect!
This is a GREAT time to get started with raw as there are SO many delicious fruits in season and what better way to stay cool on those hot days than to eat fresh, juicy fruit, drink smoothies, make raw ice cream and the like?
So, if you're ready to go for it...to commit to 30 days of raw eatin' for the month of July, just check in right here!
Then, when July arrives, a brand new 30-Day Challenge will commence!
Please be sure to read the rules for the challenge if you are new to the forum and/or the 30-day raw challenge. Just a quick reminder, the purpose and main goal is to eat ALL RAW for 30 days. Sometimes you may slip, sometimes you may consciously decide to incorporate a little bit of cooked food...all your personal choice BUT...we do NOT discuss cooked food, even slip ups here in the challenge threads. That is best for your journal/blog if you have one.
Thanks!

Howdy, everyone! :D
I'm back, & been climbin' my way back up to about 80% raw the last little while, { & let go of another 10 lbs, even with too much on my plate lately!} but KNOW it's time again for 100%!!!
I lost computer access for awhile, but I'm back online, & ready to jump into this month's challenge!
I'm so excited!!!
And can't wait to see who else signs up!
Let's have a RAWlicking month of deliciousness!

I tried this in May and struggled due to lack of preparation/back up plans with a family that eats cooked food. Thankfully, dh and familyl are very supportive and I've been testing recipes and finding what works for me the past few months so I'm ready!
July will be my 100% raw month!

My partner has been so impressed with the changes in my body and outlook over the course of the June challenge, that he's ready to do the July challenge with me. He's a junk food vegetarian who is most nervous about giving up his daily PB&J and pizza, but he's enjoyed the raw recipes I've made over this past month, and has already taken to the morning green smoothie.

Hi,
I am brand new to the raw food life style. I am a culinary school graduate, and I have just finished chemotherapy. I am hoping this month will allow me to detox, find some inner peace, and loose some water weight due to the steroids I was prescribed while on chemo.
Get luck everyone,

We both did this in Feb and lost 20 lbs each! Now, we are ready to let go of another 20 each. My dd is 14 and so sweet. Out in the kitchen right now making some raw chocolate nut balls for us to treat ourselves with the rest of the week. :D She's also making Lemon Chewies so we'll have those, too.
I think key for me is to stop eating by 6pm each night. At my age (49) and approaching menopause, LESS is BEST!;)
Glad to be here for the support. Let's do this!

I'm in for July. I have been transitioning since the beginning of May. I know a lot of recipes I like, now. There is a plethora of delicious fruit and vegetables at the farmer's market, now. My kitchen is so stocked. I'm ready to see what the difference is between 90% and 100%!

I'm in!!! The first few days are going to be rough though. I am going to visit my sisters and although they have all tried raw, they aren't currently raw. I will be bringing my vitamix and picking up some fruit and veggies. I make all of my sons food, so the way I blend things up I know their blender won't hold out but a day or two. I need to heal my skin and I am 100% positive that I can do this eating raw, because I have done it before. The doctors say it Atopic dermatitis. I could have told them that and saved me the $$$. So, here is to staying raw and feeling great. Good Luck to everyone during the 4th of July weekend.

Welcome to the July raw food challenge!
If you are not familiar with how these work, you basically just document your (RAW) intake each day (a new thread will be created by me each day), how you're feeling, etc and give and get support.
Per the rules (sticky posting) you are not to post your cooked food slip-ups here in the challenge threads - those are better suited to your journal and if you're really having a time of it and need some help with cooked food issues, please post about in the main Raw and Living Food Discussion forum area...but please, not here...thanks!
So, have fun and have a wonderful day!

This will be my first day of 100% raw ever, that I know of.
I made most of the food for days 1-3 yesterday (LOLF plan) and this morning I'll pack lunch, snacks, and dinner into a small cooler and take it to work. If I'm running on time, I'll take the bus, otherwise I'll drive so I won't be late to work.
The funniest thing happened a few weeks ago when school was out and the high school kids were in high spirits. My "lunch box" is a red igloo cooler, kind of large for a lunch box though not large for a cooler. This car full of kids passed me as I walked home from the bus stop and each one of them yelled "I like your lunch box!"
The trouble with the lunch box is that it ties up one of my hands. I want some kind of lunch backpack.
Have a good raw day everyone.

Good morning=)
I've never done a challenge before, so I'm going to just edit this one post as the day goes on I think. That way it's easy for me to go back and see what was going on by the day.
Plan-
B-huge salad w/avacado,tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, jalapeno and mixed greens
S-fresh figs
L-fresh peaches
S-pecans &dates
D-Spinach pesto soup
S- way too many pecans=)
What a luxurious day of eating I have to look forward to. I feel alost guilty eating the expensive figs, but I would have defiantely spent more than that eating out on a sad diet, eh? It might seem strange to ahve a huge salad for breakfast, but it kind of replaces my long lingering coffee hour, kwim? I do drink green smoothies, too--but sometimes I eat them instead=)
Catherine
Later, here's what I learned today-
1. I don't need to taste the food im cooking for my family. Ive made it all before, and they will tell me if its underseasoned.
2. If you are too full of pecans, no amount of husband junk foods will sway you...stay full!!
I stayed 100% today.
I started the parasite cleanse today. It gave me diarrhea, but thankfully I saw no worms, yet. I don't really want to see, or look--but poo to a mom is just too fascinating I suppose=)>
I have a lingering sore throat. Ive had it forore than a week. I initially thought it was a gluten response from some 90%ing I did, but now that my family also has it, I guess Im just plain sick. I hope to look back to this post soon and be grateful the sore throat is gone.
I have noticed a rebellious side to me that resists the structure of a challenge, but I stayed raw anyway.

Hi everyone,
It's a fine, fine day to be raw, sunny and 78 degrees with a slight breeze :D .
Started out today with:
1/2 papaya
strawberries, raspberries and mango
And then moved on to:
Green smoothie w/ banana, mango, parsley, romaine, agave syrup & Boku
We're out to dinner tonight for our 13th Anniversary. There's a great little Bistro we're going to that actually has "organic" fruits and veggies on the menu. I plan to have:
Pear & Walnut mixed green salad

Breakfast - Almond milk, Raw Food Power protein (vanilla) and (2) small bananas

First day, off to a good start with my usual breakfast, a protein shake and fruit (today: hemp protein, ground flax seed and banana smoothie). Then a walk picking some blackberries leading up to a nice 5 1/2 mile run on the trails, followed by picking and eating some black raspberries, blackberries, and mulberries. Had to fight the daddy long leg spiders for the berries! :D
Lunch was a green smoothie (kale, spinach, celery, blackberries, strawberries, hemp, flax seeds).
Dinner will be cucumber, avocado, romaine, celery...not sure what else. Probably some walnuts and almonds today also.
Have a great day everyone!

Happy First Day All!
I'm just going to edit this as I go along. I am only eating when hungry and stopping when I no longer feel hunger pangs, but am wondering if I should incorporate heavier things in? I've been eating lots of fruits...but never really get that "full" feeling...which I guess is not supposed to happen anyway?
I really don't know much about raw food meal planning, just picked up a bags worth of fruit at the stand on the way to work this morning! Any ideas?
So far I've had....
B: Herbal Tea, fruit salad (cantaloupe, honeydew melon, pineapple, grapes, banana)
S: Avocado w/ strawberry
L: Salad greens w/some kind of deliciously spicy edible flower, shredded carrots, plum
S: banana

Glad to be starting a new month of raw!
Breakfast: Green smoothie, with chard, banana, blueberries and pineapple. I always freeze a bunch of chard and kale from the farmer's market so I'm never without it.
I made a fresh corn/daikon/jalapeno/red pepper/cilantro salad with lemon and olive oil yesterday, which will be lunch for today. Now that I no longer eat sugar, I find corn so overly-sweet that it's like a dessert--have to add spicy and bitter to make it palatable as a savory dish!
Took my partner out for his final SAD dinner last night, a deep dish pizza. It looked pretty good, but I was able to appreciate the smell and look of it without wanting to actually eat the darned thing. He started raw today along with me. Did I mention that he is terrified?

I'm off to make us a green smoothie for lunch. We will probably have a salad for dinner.:D

Well my daughter has decided to join me, she is 14, and has dabbled a little with me in the past.
So far, all I have had is my 16 oz water with fresh lemon juice upon arising and half an apple just now. I am planning for some grapes, and I honestly dont know what else, because I have to go to the store still! I planning on a big yummy salad for dinner though, and of course later I will have my green smoothie. I am really beginning to like them, but my dd thinks they are disgusting, but my ds5 likes to share!
TVILLEMOM: I went to your blog, and I am going to get some zukes today and try your zuke hummus. I love hummus! I am excited to not use canned garbanzos for it. I have yet to try sprouted garbanzos for it, though i have sprouted them!
HILLARYLOUISE: I didnt know you could freeze chard/kale. Do you blend it
while it is still frozen? Congrats on influencing your SO, that is what I am trying to do as well. I think he is starting to think about Raw more, now that I have had such dramatic results. (lost 14 pounds in 11 days, and my blood glucose has dropped almost a hundred points!)
Keep it up! What a wonderful way of life. I am so glad to have this forum to share with one another.

Today has so far been like most workdays for me lately. I made about 3/4 of a blender full of green smoothie (2 bananas, a few strawberries, a little water, and then filled to the top with spring mix), filled my 16oz travel cup for work, and then my 12 yr old son and I split the rest for breakfast. When I get to work, I just sip on the green smoothie thoughout the day and also drink green tea and water, and I'm completely satisfied until I get home. Sometimes I also supplement with some other raw snack, which for today is freeze-dried peas (Just Peas). I assume that those are considered raw, but I've searched around and haven't found a definitive answer.
For dinner we'll be having pesto-stuffed portobello mushrooms garnished with sun-dried tomatoes, and blueberry pies/tarts for dessert. I'll try to take some pictures when I get home.

Congrads Stamp on losing 14lbs! :)

First challenge day, but I've been doing this mostly full-on for the last 4 days. I'm starting to notice that my palate and stomach are more sensitive. The taste of things is very complex, mostly in a good way, which I would expect. But I used some frozen blueberries in my smoothie this morning and the whole thing just tasted of "freezer." So disappointing!!
So now I'm "spoiled" to fresh foods. Ha. :)
So far today--
Blueberry/banana/lettuce smoothie
Mock Salmon Pate
Huge yellow tomato with o&v dressing
Small Fuji apple
Big ol' carrot
3 pecan halves and 4 raisins (I didn't really mean to count--just tasting them. I am not obsessive. Really.) ;)
Probably Pad Thai for dinner

Day 23 for me (second time around to doing a 30-day stint)
This time is easier. Signed up for last mo. challenge late in the month although I'd been doing it since June 9th.
Really hot the last few days and didn't eat much, but am making up for it today.;)
Banana
TWO large servings of Green Smoothie (banana, spinach, mixed berries, water)
leftover Butternut 'Spanish Rice' w/Raw dill 'cheese' tortilla & Taco 'meat' PLUS about 5 raw olives
cacao 'ice cream'
a few servings of cherries
about 60 oz. of H20 ...so far
I'll probably have watermelon for dinner again.:D Had some (and cherries) last night and LOVED it!
Keep on, keepin' it RAW!

Well today we met at the park with the homeschool group and brought all our raw goodies and eventually was sharing with everyone around! It was great to share what I am doing (we) with others and had a few say they could tell a difference in how I looked just from last weeks meeting! How cool!
SO for lunch my daughter and I have eaten:
a baby banana
two black plums
two fuji apples
2 YELLOW kiwis These were new to me, they are bigger than the reg kind, and yellow fleshed and sweeter. MUch sweeter, in fact almost too sweet for me now, but everyone else loved them! In fact i cut up two, but really only ate a few bites of them, now that I think of it.
We ate a couple carrots
2 oranges
and some water. Im feeling hungry again, so will have to make our salad soon.
I have to cook for my other family members, and then all the smells will get to me, cant be hungry when I do that!
I did buy my zukes for hummus, i might make that later too.
Day one, almost done!
Thanks for all the encouragement on the weight loss, it sure feels great!

6:30 pm so far, so good. . .
Breakfast after working in the garden was 1 1/2 bananna, 1 orange, 2T. seseame seed, handful of parsley made into a GS.
Lunch was 2 bananas, handful of almonds, a couple of brazil nuts, and some cashews (can you tell I went shopping and was putting up groceries?).
Supper was small stuffed portabella with 1/2 avacodo and onion, drizzled with Braggs liquid aminos. Banana for dessert later.
It feels good to be doing this 100% again and being accountable.

I started a 21 day smoothie/juice/raw soup plan last week. I'm hopping on the 30 day challenge to keep me accountable. My plan is to transition to whole raw foods after my 21 days.
I've been raw before but ate alot of dehydrated/ high fat foods. This time around I want to keep it simple (hence the smoothies). It's also time to stick to my commitments.
I'll be here the entire 30 days, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

- snack was Raw Revolution bar (spirulina/cashew-yum)
- lunch was salad with spinach, romaine, carrots, cukes, hemp seeds, 1/2 avocado

Howdy~
havin' a slow day, very tired, so I skipped the picnic, knowing I'd be bombarded with temptations, (& ain't great at resisting when I'm so exhausted!)...
...Breakfast: An apple, (& lotsa lemon water) & later, a handful of cashews while I made my smoothie (couldn't wait, shoulda started sooner...)
Brunch? A blender fulla smoothie (all but one cup) with 2 grapefruit, 1 banana, 1 mango, some frozen blueberries & a few raspberries, a a ton of kale
& dinner'll likely be a BIG salad with avacado dressing...either that, or veggies & dip. Not too creative, but it sounds good to me...
Looks like you're all havin' a great first day!
Have a wonderful night, & an excellent day of raw delights tomorrow!

Today was easy- no cravings, got a GREAT deal at the produce stand ( read my blog for details!) and really enjoyed the 'feeling' that has already come over me, like a peace about going raw, being raw, being pure. I feel good! Hope to post sooner in the day tomorrow.
Had fruit and some cashews during the day, and huge salad for dinner. See ya tomorrow!

Hi all. Day 1 went alright for me although I didn't feel great. I doubt it was the food. My sleep wasn't good the night before and allergies flared up. So I was sleepy and headachy most of the day.
As for food, I'd prepared the 4 dishes recommended in LOLF for the first half of week one. I should've subbed in something else for the sweet salad dressing. I never like those. I thought it was tolerable on day 0, but on day 1 I hated it. So I think I'll read through the recipes and make changes sometimes.
The other three dishes were alright. Of course the date nut tort was WONDERFUL. I think the Mock Salmon Pate needed ... something. I couldn't figure out what. Did anyone else try that and have ideas? The other dish was "Fettucini Alfredo". I'd rather call it "Zuchini-ini Nutsauce," but that's just me. It was good food and I used enough garlic to keep vampires at bay.
Finally, I ate more than I thought I would. But that's fine.
Day 2 is coming up. I need to make a salad and dressing, otherwise I'm packing my lunchbox with the same stuff as yesterday.

B-pineapple/parsley smoothie
L-big salad w/ tomato, avacado, alfalfa sprouts, pico de gallo
S-pecans w/ bananas and a bit of salt
D-zucchini rice w/ indian spinach dip sauce, only a few bites-wrapped the rest up for tomorrow--just not hungry
S-walnut brownies-still possible, though Im not hungry atm

HILLARYLOUISE: I didnt know you could freeze chard/kale. Do you blend it
while it is still frozen?
Yes I do! I have a pretty good Hamilton Beach blender, but it's no VitaMix, and I find that the fresh frozen greens are brittle and blend better up than the fresh. I also suspect that greens frozen the day they're fresh from the farmer's market are in better nutritional shape than rubbery week-old greens that have sat in the fridge. I buy two bunches--one to use fresh for the first part of the week, the second to freeze right away and use later. And I always use them up within a week or so.

Today, a blue-green smoothie, carrot juice, a romaine salad w/Miss Ackerly's dressing, and a bowl of cacao nibs, coconut, cashews, and maple syrup.
I made Better than Beef for dinner - will eat this spicy goodness with either celery sticks or as a romaine or green cabbage wrap.
This week is challenging in terms of getting to the gym. But I'm going this afternoon and will make up for what I missed yesterday!

Last night's dinner was Broccoli Soup (LOLF). I loved it!
Today so far, I've had:
Fresh fruit salad--apple, banana, raspberries
Marinated veggies in Alissa's vinaigrette--broccoli, carrots, mushrooms
Mock Salmon Pate
I divided my batch of Salmon Pate in half and added fresh dill and lemon juice to one part. I really liked it the original way, but I wanted to share with one of my friends who likes things very herb-y. I ended up liking both and it will be gone soon!
We're having my sister over later, and I plan to feed her and Mr. Liza an all raw meal--but not point that out. Hee. Dinner tonight will probably be more broccoli soup and a green salad with avocado, heirloom tomatoes, etc., and Date Nut Torte.

Today for breakfast I had a plum and then was busy and didnt eat until about 2.
I made a recipe I saw on Kevin Gianni's website, from the Renegade Health Show. Collard wraps with Tahini sauce. They are sooooooooooooooooooooo delicious! They are rolled up with julienned veggies inside (I used carrots, zucchini, and red peppers) drizzled with the sauce, which is tahini, evoo, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, sea salt, nama shoyu ( I used braggs). Yummy! The Collard leaves were flash blanched just to make them more pliable. I definately will be having this again! Even my 5 year old liked it!
Tonight we are having our green smoothie. With the last of my strawberries:(
ice, water, banana, coconut oil, kale and parsley and spirulina.
Later we may have some pumpkin seeds on the way home from church.
Energy wise, feeling good. got sickness around me, and feeling like I am impervious!
I hope its ok that I mentioned a website??!!If not please tell me, sorry!

First the day 2 report. Was modestly hungry in the morning, ravenous at lunch, modestly hungry at dinner. The date nut tort that was supposed to last 3 days is gone in two days.
Mock Salmon Pate, "Fettucini Alfredo", Date Nut Torte, cherries, plums, fruit salad, "Real Cream Cheese", carrots, cucumber, salad with lemon/evoo dressing. There was a lot of food packed in my lunch box and I didn't eat it all. I may eat leftovers for breakfast.
I don't think I like having the same recipes for three days straight, but that's my workweek and it's hard to spend much more time on food prep on Tues-Thursday. I think I'll make a little more food (more recipes) this weekend and freeze some portions. Then I can overlap enjoy a bit more variety in the workweek.
My belly has felt over-full the last couple of days, and there's definitely a digestive adjustment going on. I've wanted a huge amount of food. When I see some of the mostly-fruit days that people post, I think that I wouldn't be satisfied with that. It will be interesting to see where this process leads.
Day 3 should be about the same in terms of what I eat.
Have a good day, everyone.

Good morning!
So this morning I headed to the gym and had a great workout. I started training for another marathon and this will be my firs marathon while 100% raw! I'm pretty excited. I've been raw since December but have not trained seriously since starting.
For breakfast I had my standard raw oatmeal. For lunch and snacks I have pineapple, watermelon, and apple with almond butter. I also have fresh apple/carrot/giner juice. I highly recommend this combo.
I am traveling north for the long weekend. I am going on a three day canoe trip with my husband and brother. I stocked up on a bunch of raw goodies for the weekend so I won't be tempted while the boys cook
Well, I hope everyone has a great 4th! Enjoy the fireworks and watermellon!

It has helped me so much that at least one other human cares even a little bit if I stay raw. Thank you guys!
To all those that have not yet posted today, or yesterday..This is called a challenge for a reason--it can be really hard! It is okay to not be perfect. It is okay to continue on with this challenge even if you messed up--just don't post that food on the the thread--just keep going. Once you get a few victories under your belt, it will get easier and easier. Don't give up now!
Have a great day!

Good morning!
So this morning I headed to the gym and had a great workout. I started training for another marathon and this will be my firs marathon while 100% raw! I'm pretty excited. I've been raw since December but have not trained seriously since starting.
For breakfast I had my standard raw oatmeal.
I'd love to know what kind of oatmeal you have in the morning, and how you prepare it. I'm thinking that as I step up my own running program, I'll need something like this to keep from eating too many Larabars!

hillarylouise:
The oatmeal is fantastic and has been a staple in my raw lifestyle.
You can buy raw oat flakes on-line at Alissa's store. The co-op where I live also sell them.
I soak 1/2-3/4c raw oat flakes over night in water. In the morning I food process the oats with 1 banana and a little cinnamon. Serve with a bowl with fresh berries on top.
Sometimes I substitute the banana for 4-5 dates. Other times I add a little raw agave instead of the cinnimon.
If I'm going for a long run or workout I add a little almond butter and raisins to the oatmeal.
Ok, hope that helps! I really is great and the consistency is just like cooked oatmeal.
Enjoy.

yesterday i made a delicious fruit pie with left over fruit i needed to use. the crust i made out of almonds and sunflower seeds, then i pureed blackberries and strawberries and poured it on top, lastly i topped it with fresh thinly sliced bananas. it turned out so good! sadly, i broke my coffee grinder while making this pie, so i think i am going to have to splurge and buy a food processor!
drinking a yummy kale/carrot/pear GS. actually, it was a little too green for me, so i added two slices of orange, and now it is perfect!
will probably have nori rolls later today, and going out to dinner at an organic restaurant that has a HUGE salad bar later today. yippee. happy raw!

I'm having a very philosphical day. Mr.Liza and I are listening to Eckhart Tolle read The New Earth on our work commute.
On top of that, I've been reading about satiety and raw diet and how that feeling of full/satisfied changes and you have to allow yourself to change with it.
I thought I'd post about it on the discussion board....

Hope everyone is having a GREAT raw day.
Was running late today so I didn't have time to make a big salad for lunch and snacks. Luckly I had a little salad left over from yesterday and I took that with me. Not quite enough to satisify me, but helped me to stay on track
B - (1) apple
S - (2) bananas
L - small salad
S - Laura bar
S - Just ate an apple
D - Will be a green smoothie
Saxmaam - the reason I eat simply is because I'm too lazy to make anything. I'd be happy to help you eat your left overs. Your menu sounds so good.

Hi everybody!
Well, it was bound to happen.... I woke up this morning with a SPLITTING headache and general feelings of yuk. I know it's caffeine withdrawal, and, my allergies were also having a field day... I took some benadryl and some advil (sorry, I know, I only take meds if I'm really hurting- eventually I won't need it anymore!) and went back to sleep. I woke up 6 HOURS later!!! And now I feel so much better!!! If that is all the caffeine withdrawal I'm gonna get- Hallelujah!! I knew if i could just ride it out, I'd be okay, and I am!
Have only had a 1/2 banana so far (It's 3 pm west coast) I need to get up and eat some fruit!
I'm glad everyone is sill here and doing great on raw. I LOVE RAW!

Hi everyone - my back has really been bothering me today, so I'm grumpy. But I had a pretty good day raw-wise.
B: GS with bananas, pineapple, kale
S: lara bar
S: apple, banana
Need to go shopping - I'm starving and hubby is making a pizza. Stomach is growling, but I won't give in. My Mom's here and she's doing raw with me this weekend - so that will be a huge help. Planning on making Ani Phyo's taco nut meat tonight.
had to get a muscle relaxant at doctor's office, so hopefully will feel better soon :( (please pardon lack of sentence structure)

So great to read about everyone's day! I'm still here and plugging along :D I have July 4th planned as my big kitchen day! I picked up a couple of new raw books on InterLibrary loan and am about to sit down with my sticky note flags and plan my day of uncooking for tomorrow. Honestly, it's been a bit rough and I'm so looking forward to having a bunch of raw goodies at hand for me.
I also plan to make some enticing desserts for the littles, too. I have some irish moss soaking in the fridge for a yet undecided Cafe Gratitude pie. Yum.
I don't know if I'll be able to check in over the holiday weekend, so if not...Have a great long weekend fellow rawbies!!!

Lunch today was a banana and a nectarine with pecans

Oooh! A special message for me:)
I felt amazing today. I was almost hyperactive. I can't say I CHANNELED that energy very well, but it felt good to feel good. There is one thing aside from RAW that might account for it, which is that I am taking some enzyme supplements. I realize that they may be redundant on the raw diet, but I got really sold on trying them when I read Karen DeFelice's (sp?) book.
I hope the grocery store is open tomorrow (4th). I want to do more food prep.

Hi everyone,
Been out of town, but staying raw! Today will be a challenge, going to a bar-b-que, traditional. I plan to bring a corn salad, sunflower pate and crackers, and yes, we plan to share with everyone! :p
Lately I've been loving simple green smoothies with mangos, bananas and spinach and some hemp seed for protein. Mostly there are so many wonderful fruits and veggies I'm finding myself opting for swirling up a quarter of a watermelon or a whole small cantaloupe with a lime or lemon in it and sipping on it for the entire morning. A simple salad with avocados, tomatoes, cukes with some EVOO and lemon - sprinkle some hemp seeds on top and I'm a happy camper.
Berry puddings have been a favorite around here too! My husband loves them. I put strawberries, blueberries, mangos and a banana in my small food processor. I'll dice up some avocado and pour the berry mixture over the avocado and mash it up.
Okay, I'm getting hungry and still have to workout.
Have a great 4th everyone! :)

italian salad dressing (hold the honey)

collard wraps
banana ice cream (with lots of cinnamon)

My digestion is adjusting to raw + enzyme supplements so my belly is growling every now and then. Slept well for 2nd night in a row and felt unusually good yesterday. That makes me feel hopeful! Could these improvements really continue? I have 36# to lose plus some health annoyances.
Have a nice day, everyone.

Good morning=)
I'm not worried at all about going to 4th festivites today. I really have 100% confidence in myself, its great!=) After so many occasions in the past couple of months with 90%ing, I just know that a bite here or there will make me feel overly heavy and bad. Not just that, but I much prefer my raw food to anything cooked at his point. Who said that?=)
Today's plan-
B-pineapple
S-walnuts
L-curry coleslaw
S-watermelon
S-chocolate truffles
D=red white and blue fruit salad w/strawberries,blueberries and a banana
S-macadamia nuts during fireworks (very popcornish, and very indulgent in the midst of all the "treats")
Have a good day you guys, and good luck with all your relatives and friends!=)

We're going to a barbeque too, and bringing raw food to share with everyone. Probably a few things, as it's an all day thing with fireworks. It's a pool party, so the fact that I am back to being bikini-sized thanks to raw will be all the motivation I need to stay true.

I have a wedding to go to this afternoon but I am bringing some fruit and veggies with me because I am not sure what they will be having. For breakfast I had a gs, snack will be a fruit smoothie, dinner will be a salad and I will snack on fresh fruit, nuts, and watermellon for the day. I also need to figure out how to get some exercise in between the wedding and the BBQ tonight. Hope everyone has a great day.

Hmmm. Maybe it's psychological, maybe it's cuz I was busy, or maybe it's that I ate a truly big dinner last night, but I didn't get hungry till almost noon today. Ha!
I'm going to start listing my food with last night's dinner and then today's breakfast and lunch. I don't like to edit yesterday's entry....
Last night
D--
huge salad of zucchini, raw corn, red onion, tomato, parsely, and avocado
olive oil and lime juice dressing
topped with walnut taco "meat" (Ani Phyo) with much less olive oil than she calls for (it still seems oily to me, but you know, in a good way:D )
Today
B--
noon smoothie:
1 c homemade almond milk (Ani Phyo) (contains dates; I don't strain it)
1 banana
1/2 mango
1/2 c ice
I meant to put spinach in the smoothie, but I only have a part of a box left, so I'm planning to use it in the next meal, which will be salad with the walnut taco stuff.
Speaking of the taco stuff, I substituted pumpkin seeds for the almonds, because pumpkin seeds seem so Mexican to me and because they are one of my very favorite things. Was it ever good!

I got to leave early from work today so I headed over to Trader Joe's. I don't normally buy blackberries because they are so expensive but I decided to treat myself today. They are very yummy! Not sure whats on the menu today.
So far:
B - Soaked chia seeds in water, added blueberries and honey
S - Laura bar
S - Right now eating blackberries
Probably a GS later and who know what else. Going to look through some salad dressing receipes, all my salad's have been tasting the same. Need some new options.
Hope everyone has a great 4th :)

i am moving from the town i have lived in for the past 5 years. my best friend, who knows i am raw, uncooked an entire 4th of july lunch for us to share! it was SO good! lettuce tacos with corn, onions, tomatoes, walnut taco meat, avocado and cilantro, and home made pesto with dehydrated flax crackers. and then i shared some of my delicious berry pie for dessert.
that was my breakfast/lunch. then for snack/lunch i had a mango/strawberry/banana smoothie with flaxseed. (i struck gold today at a road side fruit stand!)
then for dinner, went out for japanese food. i really wanted sushi, and i asked for it without the rice, and the server FREAKED OUT. she acted like i was a complete idiot, or some kind of freak. she ended up coming back and saying that the sushi chef couldn't make the sushi without the rice, and so they made it wrapped in cucumber. i really wanted my nori, but oh well.
i am very full and tired from cleaning and packing all day. happy 4th everyone!

Wow, day 5!
I just stayed home and did chores and food prep yesterday, so I didn't have the challenges some of you did at gatherings.
The food prep is taking more time than I would like; it leaves so many dirty dishes! Maybe I can be more efficient somehow.
For now I think I need to have substantial/filling food prepared. I still can't imagine being satisfied on a mono-meals of watermelon or similar. A lot of yesterday I felt stuffed but still wanted more calories. Adjustments.
Anyway, so far so good. Best to everyone.

I decided not to post until AFTER the fourth of July...this is my first time raw at all, and to go in attempting 100% is something that I am proud of...
Yesterday, i had to decline several invitations to attend BBQ's...i know I can't avoid them forever, and i won't, but while in this beginning stage, I am keeping my surroundings, my environment, and those I allow in my space..down to a few, and keeping it simple.
I stayed home, did some reading, and some writing, had green drinks, and mango and papaya, and salads, and I have to say, this is a good feeling I am having.

D ~ Might skip dinner, actually, & just make some carrot/apple/celery/spinich juice...or, I guess that would be my dinner! (Still think of a meal as something you CHEW!)

Hi all. Yesterday was fine and I slept like a baby. Wonderful.
I think I'm learning that I don't like salad dressings with ACV. I like lemon juice a lot better. Sometimes I use old, sour kombucha (k-vinegar) instead of vinegar, and now I wonder if I would like it instead of ACV in a dressing recipe.
I ate all the collard wraps yesterday ... I left out the chopped lettuce and wrapped the other ingredients in cabbage leaves from my garden, so they didn't seem big enough for a lot of extra greens.
So I'm rambling and I better stop before I complain that the scale was WAY up last night.
Have a good day, y'all :)

I do like it on it's own, since I know how good it is for me. If you like lemon, also try lime, graprefruit and orange juice on a salad. My favorite salad dressing is a salted avacado=)
Brewcat- You are such an asset to our challenge with your excellent planning and positive attitude, thank you so much=)
Raw4u- I think the GS and watermelon ideas are so good. How many nuts is too many nuts? Are you eating until you are overly full? You could try preportioning them in little sacks instead of the big bulk bin bag (im guilty of this=)
Have a good day everyone=)

My dreams are so much more vivid! I never could remember my dreams before but they have been so clear.
I made a lovely chinese salad for lunch. I spiralised some courgettes, added some chopped red pepper and pinenuts and chopped cabbage. Made a dressing from raw tahini and miso with a splash of tamari and found I had made an amazing chinese style dish!
I'm going to make it again another time and add some bean sprouts.
More than staying raw, I'm so proud that I haven't had a cup of black tea with milk all week. This is such a big achievement for me (until last week I was a several cups a day person).
At my friends house earlier they were all eating cakes and I had my lovely banana and I didn't feel a twinge of missing out. I prefered my banana :)

Hi all!
I've been keeping at this raw thing and feel great! BUT... I got invited to go on a last minute camping trip and I really need some nature! I don't really have time to plan or anything, but I'm just gonna do my best! I am going to take a lot of fruit and nuts/seeds and just see how it goes...
Have a wonderful RAW week!!!

Happy Sunday
Not sure why, but I had a hard time yesterday. Got throught it tho. I had lots of fresh whole foods to eat, but was too lazy to fix anything. Oh well, today will be better. Just ate some cherries, next is a gs. Might have 2 gs's today or maybe a salad.
Everyone sounds like they are doing well. Keep up the great work. :)

Thank goodness for the day of rest. I have been listless today...though the last several days were intense, busy and very (happily) productive work days. I can tell I am detoxing by the extreme lack of energy.
~ Go free toxic fat cells~
I am slowly adding foods back after last week doing the MC. I wanted to post here as well since I knew I wouldn't be cleansing that long since I just did a 2 1/2 week one in May.
I have had
1 yummy pink grapefruit
2 small oranges
8 kalmata olives
Later perhaps a peach, athena melon and blueberries....
Sounds like everyone did really well over the 4th ~ that's the best tribute to freedom in the USA don't you think? I mean being one less to attribute to the environmental and etc. destruction.
Yeah raw !

It's funny, I'm never really really hungry when I'm raw. It feels great. The only thing that ever really craves anything is the mind, and once I realize that I can really imagine being raw forever. I did Windsor Pilates this AM and am now enjoying a berry smoothie with avocado, honey, and dates... No milk or anything. Avocados kind of act as smoothers and don't affect the taste. YUM!!! For dinner I'm having Jicama Spicy Fries and/or guacamole. Snacks: Watermelon :-)
I always feel so wonderful raw, it's the way to live a longer and more fulfilling life. I hope that this time will be 30 years! (GO WILL!!!)
Have a great week everyone!!!

Hi Rawbies!
It's GREAT to read everyone's post. Last month it was quite empty in the challenge forum. My weekend has been absolutely fabulous. July 4th? When was July 4th? My family went out of town and I stayed in town. I didn't have to deal with the cooked food challenge and at this point it wouldn't matter, because the food they eat just doesn't appeal to me as much or at all.
Today I had a HUGE piece of watermelon; it was OH so sweet - "YUMMO" as Rachel Ray says! I also had, a lara bar for the first time and I'll post my thoughts on the other discussion board. I had a salad with avocado and Alissa's basic ACV, lemon and honey dressing though I used agave. A great day! I won't let the fact that I'm not drinking enough water make me feel bad!
Have a great evening all! Smell ya tomorrow! :D

Hello all! Today went pretty well. I've been resisting a lot of cravings, which makes me a little nervous. I've also had very little energy, which is hopefully just a sign of detox. What I had today:
B: GS with bananas, 2 kiwis, spinach, ice
S: lemon lara bar - OMG, amazing!!
L/D: celery stalks with Ani Phyo's taco nut meat; salad with romaine, spinach, spring mix, cukes, tomatoes, carrots
S: orange, grapes
I wasn't feeling hungry for most of the day, so I didn't eat as much as usual. I've been a little bloated/constipated, so eating less is a good thing.
My weight loss is not as impressive as I had expected - but I think my body is going through an adjustment right now. Hopefully the scale will bring a smile to my face soon. :)
I hope that more of our 100% challenge friends will check in now that the holiday weekend is over. :)

I'm still here ... about to start my 3d food-prep day. Lots of household chores to do, too.
Yesterday I picked a neighbor's plum tree and ate a bunch of yummy plums. My teeth got sensitive and still feel that way. I'm pretty sure it's the acid rather than the sugar. So here I am with pounds and pounds of ready-to-eat plums and I don't know if I can stand to eat them. They are as small as cherries and the flesh clings to the stones, so pitting them and cooking/freezing would take more time than I have to spend. Any ideas?
I guess I'm going to try to de-emphasize sweet fruits and sour salad dressings for the next little while, until my teeth are happy again.

Yesterday we went to a raw potluck right in our neighborhood, which we found on meetup.com, We got to try some great recipes, and I was happy to find a mix of everything from hardcore raw foodists to dabblers. It was, I noticed, an extremely fit and good looking crowd. Someone made raw eggplant "bacon," which was mind bogglingly good, as was the Cafe Gratitude onion bread someone else made.
Our host is planning to open a raw fast food business called RawDaddy (sample menu at www.rawdaddy.com), and he was making samples of his signature concept--a flax cone, like an ice cream cone, in this case filled with a savory corn and jicama salad and drizzled with mole. I hope for selfish reasons he is able to open his raw cone joint soon!

I lOVE that, Kick all cooked to the curb! Really sums it up!
Well, here I am up all night again, it's almost 8 am, I'll lay down in a few hours for a few hours & then try to go to bed early tonight, was hopin' I'd be sleeping better by now...
...& when I'm this exhausticated, I have little appetite...
...I do, however, have some melons, grapefruits, strawberries & TONS of raspberries I need to eat before they spoil, so I think it may just be a fruit day...
...maybe some green smoothie, too...
...or maybe I'll have to freeze some berries so they don't spoil, for future smoothies...i really don't wanna eat if I ain't hungry, cuz my digestive system seems to half shut down when this happens...:(
*YAWN* (Weird, I just re-read this for typo's, & just READING the word YAWN made me yawn!)
***Warning: Lame Brainstorm ahead!***
Juice the plums, maybe? Dehydrate 'em? Make a big plummy smoothie? Give 'em to a plumber??? Put 'em on a plum-line? Offer 'em to someone who's plum-p? (Ok, that one was bad...never mind, I'll stop now...:o )
...I guess you could throw 'em in a salad...& make a plum sauce for dressing! OOOHHH, plum sauce...I know, I know, make egg raw's, (roll's, get it?) & dip 'em in plum sauce! Why, that'd be plum delicious!!! :p
(Don't mind me, I get like this on no sleep...I'm really done this time... )
Anyways, hope y'all have a really wonderful day today!

I haven't even sat down at my computer in a few days, which for me is amazing! I've had so much energy to get out and do things and take care of my neglected house. I haven't felt this way in like 10 years. :)
Anyway, last night we had awesome spring rolls with thai peanut sauce, and raw stawberry-banana ice cream. Today will be a big green smoothie, green tea (which I make with warm water, not boiling or hot), and plenty of water. My spiral slicer and hemp seeds will be delivered from Amazon today (Yay!), so I'll probably have zuchinni spaghetti tonight, maybe with hemp pesto.
:)
Hi all,
Wow, what a day thus far. I've had a salad of cabbages, cilantro, parsley, green onion, etc with a marinade and avocado, a green smoothie of collards, spinach, apple and for the first time I threw in the rest of a bit of almond milk I had. It was good, but definitely toooo good, so I'll only do that every now and then. :) I have blueberries, cherries, plums and a lara bar for later if need be.
HANG IN THERE THICK!!! :D

Hi everyone!
It feels so good to have all this energy when it is hot & muggy outside. There was a time when I would be slogging through the "soupy mess" with a huge sinus headache to boot. Not today :p ! I've got energy to spare, even with a little detox on the side, it's so much better than ever before.
On the menu today:
B - watermelon smoothie with a couple celery stalks and a lime
L- creamy kale salad
D- raw corn salad (love this salad, can't get enough!)
S - cacao pudding :D
OMG
Before I forget. My DH and I opened up our first DURIAN yesterday afternoon. The smell about knocked us out of the kitchen. But,. . . BUT, the raw cacao pudding we made, bestest ever! We'll finish up the last of that tonight. It was totally worth the cost, about $9 and :o the smell!
PS Even our cats were intrigued and wanted in on the fun.

Hi everyone! one week down, 3 to go!
i have had a headache and wonder if its detoxing? my blood sugars are soo good this week! They have come down about a hundred points since going raw! I am anxious to weigh again. Energy levels are definately up.
Friday will be my first date (with hubby) since all raw... I dont know what to do/where to go!
BREWCAT: can you tell me your raw corn salad recipe? I make a cold corn salad that I love, and was just wondering if I can make it raw, wasnt sure if corn can be eaten that way or not.
so far
breakfast gs with sberries, two baby bananas, kale, spirulina and carob powder.
no coconut oil. I have read conflicting info. dont mix fat/oil with fruit, slows down the digestive process which is bad for you. Do mix in the coconut oil so that it DOES slow it down and doesnt spike the blood sugars... Any thoughts on this ????
snacked on
sberries while washing and cutting and freezing for smoothies, an apricot, a plum,
Lunch 4 small valencia oranges. The other day had heirloom oranges and those were soooo good!
snack; a banana dipped in carob powder mixed with maple syrup and sea salt (just a pinch)
i wonder if mixing it with coconut oil next time would be good.
Dinner: spinach salad, but i want some fajitas with jalapeno cheese sauce! i just read the recipe... mmm good. will have to pick up some supplies for later this week.
I have been making the collard wraps sooo good!

broccoli
red onion
mushrooms
sunflower seeds
lemon and olive oil
S--pecans and raisins, small handful
S--1/3 small banana

Now it's time to pack the giant lunch and snack and dinner cooler and catch the bus to work.
Yesterday I prepared: Mock Turkey Loaf, Cauliflower Rice, Pasta+Marinara, Salad Greens, Caesar Dressing (I think I'm going to like this one:D ).
I squished a bunch of those teeny, very ripe plums between my fingers and stirred in probiotic powder yesterday, leaving the result out on the counter. I'm hoping for plum vinegar. It filled about 2/3's of a gallon jar with a paper towel covering the top.
Staying raw hasn't been a problem so far since I haven't had any social traps to fall into and have been able to block out the food prep time. BF is totally supportive. Saturday night he broiled a fish, which he ate with my raw dishes on the side. And we have had a couple of "cooking dates" -- the idea is one person does the planning and shopping, and we put the meal together with that person "in charge". I dunno how that's going to work if I stay raw. I dunno that PLANNING a raw meal is something he wants to do.
Have a good day, y'all.

Good Morning sweet rawbies~
OMG~my energy is back after 2 days of zippo....and my emotions back on....Had a bazaar dream ( I have many when I am raw) but this one I was smoking:eek: .....haven't smoked in years !! I don't remember actually puffing but I know I felt like I should go run in a closet so no one would see me.....
I ate more yesterday afternoon as I left work and that is part of what I needed I think...coming off that mini MC I just needed food....at least my body ....seemed to think so....
Funny ...how as soon as I start raw again I loose that weighty depressive mind set. I mean I gain a sense of peace and contentment that is carried through other areas of my life ( which can be a bit challenging these days). My journal has pages of positive affirmation statements for whenever I feel like I could cave but I have absolutely no intention. I just have to buck up, grin and bear the difficult times and know that the horizon is ever so sweet. This is a process and does not become habitual over night. I read and read and read some more. Thank you guys , all of you on this site as you all help so much.
Today ~ lemonade,GS w/spinach/blueberries/peaches/maca/flax, oranges,and tonight a nice big lovely mixed salad.....
Thick~Hope today is better for you:) .

The weight loss has slowed considerably in my second month of raw, something I'm actually a bit glad of. I am viewing this as a long term lifestyle, and if I were still dropping as much weight as I did in the first 30 days, I'd be worried about long term sustainability.
I have met me intial goal of fitting into my old clothes, and now would like to feel a bit lighter still in my running shoes, and be leaner for health reasons.
I was hungry all day yesterday, made miso soup for breakfast, and chomped on greens, sprouts and fruit like a horse through lunch, then had a handful of dates for dinner, thinking the carbs might finally settle me down, and they did. I have learned that it's okay to eat a handful of this or that for a meal, or eat at strange times, which is a big breakthrough.

BREWCAT: can you tell me your raw corn salad recipe? I make a cold corn salad that I love, and was just wondering if I can make it raw, wasnt sure if corn can be eaten that way or not.
Absolutely you can eat raw corn, right off the cob! I was reluctant at first too, but it is so Yummy this way. Anyway, off the top of my head, this is what I put in my salad:
4 ears of corn - (corn shaved off the cob)
2 scallions
1/2 sweet red pepper
1 basket cherry tomatoes
romaine lettuce
Marinate for 1 hour:
3 portobello mushroom caps in
2 Tbsps balsamic vinegar
1/4 cup olive oil
2 Tbsps. agave syrup
Mix together the corn, chopped scallions, chopped pepper and whole cherry tomatoes. Chop up romaine lettuce and put a heaping portion of the corn salad on top. Top the corn salad with the marinated mushroom mixture.
I whipped up an easy lemon, olive oil, pinch of sea salt, pinch of agave syrup, dressing to toss the romaine lettuce in. You could also dress the corn mixture if you wanted to, I like it plain myself. :D
This is not my own recipe, it's an adaptation from one of my raw recipe books. ;)

Congratulations to you hillarylouise! I have about 8 more pounds to go . . .
Last night my DH announced he wants to go VEGAN. This from a man who suffered a heartattack a year ago and who continued to love his steak, eggs, lamb, chicken livers, fried pork sandwiches (Yuck :o ). Thank you so much for your encouraging words=) Here's today=

L-butternut squash spanish rice
almond rawfried beans
guacamole
fresh salsa
S-banana, pears
D-salad w/ garlicky olive oil, cucumbers and pecans

I made the fudge balls, I didn't like them nearly as much as the walnut/cocoa/honey/salt/vanilla brownies--so for now Im sticking with what I know I like. It's irritating to make someting with $15 of ingredients and then not like it that much. So, Im going to take my own advice and only make a fractional portion of any future experimental recipes.
What kind of flax crackers or other crackers have you guys made, and liked?=)
Hi all,
Thick: I don't really like flax crackers. I tend to stick with sesame crackers, and I grind up flax seeds to bind the other ingredients like green onion, cilantro, and parsley. Maybe I'll try flax crackers again but probably no time soon!
WOW Brew', that's WONDERFUL! I'm happy for your hubby and you! Let us know how it goes.
Today is a good day! I ate two pears that really got me.....uh....GOIN', then had some sunflower seeds, then for lunch had cabbage salad with avocado, and am munching on deeelish cherries now I bought from the farmer's mkt., which I'm noticing are a lot smaller than the store bought cherries. ...hmmm, makes me wonder about genetic engineering. I rarely see organic cherries.

My friend, who is very supportive of my raw program, told me today that it was too bad that with my eating raw, I was missing all the nice summer vegetables. I was kind of stunned, and said, "like what?"
She said, corn...and I told her I'd been eating it all weekend. She said squash...and I told her I'd been eating that, too. In fact, I couldn't think of anything that there wasn't a way to prepare raw. Don't know if I'd care for it, but it would be possible!
After a few minutes, she said, "well, I betcha you don't eat okra!"
But you know, it could probably be dehydrated to crunchiness, like those onions I've been wanting to try.
Maybe I'll experiment with that!
Had a hungry, nibbly day!
B--
missed it!
1 mug 1/2 decaf coffee with ff cream

Big ol' cafeteria salad like yesterdays, minus the avo
1 tbs commercial dressing

Three huge mushrooms stuffed with
3 Tbs pesto
3 thick slices tomato
big handful arugula
I still feel a little empty, but I think it's psychological...

today was a crazy busy day!
this is what i had to eat:
1 mango
lettuce wraps with carrots, cilantro, and mint
3 bananas
2 coconut/date rolls
BIG salad with avocado, spicy walnut/sunflower seed meat, tomatoes, red pepper, sprouts
i ate my BIG salad after a 3 mile walk, so it was very satisfying!
the one thing i really like about raw is that i never get to that STARVING mode, where my blood sugar drops and i am on survival mode--i would eat anything! instead, my body just tells me "it is time to eat." and then i eat. and that's that.
:)
