Hi, everyone,
I'm new to posting here, but I've been lurking since last summer (!) when I went 90% raw for about 8 weeks. I wanted then primarily to lose weight and I lost so little and so slowly that I was not motivated to continue.
This summer, I am having more health problems than the weight (oh, as if being overweight is not enough!). I remember how improved were my skin, my ability to sleep, my moods, and my energy level.
What really turned my attention back to this way of eating was reading --somewhere-- that it is sometimes difficult for an unhealthy body to let go of excess weight until a certain level of health is regained. I was definitely not a healthy person last summer, even more so this summer. On top of this the worsening of my rosacea. And on top of this is that I have begun to sleep poorly.
All the research I've done on rosacea points to an alkaline diet as a major component in treatment. So here I am, much less concerned with how fast I might lose weight and much more concerned with my painful skin and lack of sleep. I really want to lose, but I will back-burner that (hey, a joke!).
I started a couple of weeks ago to transition some of my meals. I like to slide into new things slowly and sideways. Normally, I eat/cook vegetarian, usually vegan at home. I've cut down on the omnivore restaurant meals. I've been having lovely, raw breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. I've had recent days where I've been up to 80% raw (by volume). So I'm ready to cross the line and be "high" raw all the time. How close to 100% can I get? We'll see!
Thanks for being here!
