I was diagnosed with GERD last summer. I'm taking Nexium but plan on stopping as soon as possible Often after eating I'll feel this discomfort in the middle of my stomach, it feels like something is just sitting there. It's horrible really and I feel it throughout my whole body, tired, moody, etc.

Anyways, since eating vegan and as much raw as possible, it has been getting better. I have to eat smaller portions more often but it helps. But still sometimes I can feel it. Like just now I had a salad with mixed greens, some broccoli, and some olives, and a handful of nuts/raisins. Now I feel crappy and wish I hadn't eaten anything at all.

It has been getting better as I improve my diet but I still get discouraged once in awhile. Has anybody been able to completely overcome GERD, or know what foods may be triggers for it?

Thanks for any advice!

I have it too. I just recently developed it and I don't take any medicine for it because I hate taking medicines and I didn't want to just cover it up by taking medicines. I have read enough information that I believe the only way to correct it is by eating raw although lately I haven't been doing that. I haven't been eating much of anything just eating a few things at a time to see if it sets me off into pain/heartburn. I understand your pain though.

Have you tried taking a glass of water with a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar before meals (like about 20 minutes before)? I know it sounds like it would increase the acid, but actually it shocks your body into alkalinity.
