Hey everyone. I've been lurking around here for a while. I have a question: has anyone ever combined the MC and a juice fast?

Is that a good idea, bad idea? My thoughts were about if you are doing a MC and losing weight what if your skin starts to get saggy cuz you don't have all the nutrients you'd have from jucing to help your skin heal as well???

I'm not sure if that is a dumb question but I know here all questions are welcome :)

So to do it together or not, and why?

Thanks!!:D

Hey there..............yes, all questions are welcome.

The answer to your questions is no, you can't do both. They are two completely different kinds of fast. With the MC you have nothing but the lemonaid, therefore, no juicing is allowed.

The lemonaid gives you all the nutrients that you need while doing it, so don't worry about that.

You can always do a juice fast later in time.

cool thanks for answering. I was wondering if the MC lemonaid was enough nutrients for your body. How much of it is one supposed to drink a day?

You are supposed to have at least 6 glasses of the lemonaid a day and nothing else except a laxative tea at night and plenty of plain water too.

Don't take vitamins or any suppliments, the lemonaid will provide you with all the vitamins and nutrients that you need.

How you break the fast is very important also.

I suggest you get the book and fully reading it before doing the fast, it gives a ton of helpful information.

I did both for 9 days (both juice and MC) just recently....minus the salt flush. The way I look at it is the MC is just watered down juice so when I get tired of the juice, I switch to lemonade for a day. It works for me.

Try it and see how you feel.

I don't understand that. The MC is a specific fast and is not to be alterred from at all. I mean, that's the point of it.

If it works for you then that's awesome......but then you aren't truly doing a MC, you're doing a juice fast.

Both have their benefits the way I see it so definately do what works for you.

I have done the MC (alone) and I also juice feast and to tell you the truth....I get the same results. I detox with both, I cleanse with both, so naturally I started combining both. In the MC book that I have it says you can slow down your detox with a little fruit so why couldn't you use a little fruit juice? I have, and like I said the results are the same AND it is easier to stick with the program for the recommended time frame.

That's good to know. So it didn't slow down the MC or take away the effects or benefit of it?

Someone posted somewhere that Matt Monarch (I think it was him don't hold me to it though!) said while on the MC you should drink the juice of a head of celery every day.

On the juice feasting website they say to drink the juice of a head of celery every day too. It also says that you can use the master cleanse lemonade instead of a juice when you're running short of time or just can't be bothered juicing! So in my opinion combing the two will still cause detox as you won't be consuming fibre. It's a personal choice I guess :)

No, it sure didn't. For some reason I get a more concentrated detox when I combine both and I can fast much longer. Right now, my face is broken out, I just got over a huge cold sore on my mouth and a three day headache. Also I would like to make mention of the fact that if I do the MC alone, I tend to gain weight back rather easily but if I add juice to it, I don't. Very strange but I think the added nutrition in the juice helps to increase my metabolism.

That is funny that I am reading this cause I too have in the past combined them (and thought I was the lonely one). When I fast on the lemonade alone (for a long time) I personally get tired of it and need more variety so I end up switching over to juice and I do both as well. However, if I am tight on time the MC lemonade works well and I do just that. I would call it more of a juice fast though instead of just a MC. I also consume coconut water too. I am on a fast right now doing the MC limeaide and water from a young coconut daily. IN a few days I might switch over to fruit juices cause I am already getting sick of the lemonade. I think it is because I have done so many Master Cleanses before I get tired of the lemonade quick.

I also think I have more energy with fruit and veggie juices and feel overall better than just with the MC lemonade. But again I say if I get busy it sure is nice to go back to the lemonade.

Alright, you guys answer my question. I too get tired of drinking lemonade all the time.

I like the MC fast to cleanse you out and to discipline you for the first 4 days, but then I feel like I want switch over to juice fasting once I can feel that my intestines are empty.

What about combining water fasting and the MC?
I'm on Day 11 of a 30-day cleanse and would like to use this opportunity to try water fasting for the first time. Would taking 3 days off and drinking only water greatly alter the effects of my cleanse? If so, any reason why I couldn't water fast for the last week of the cleanse (21 days MC + 7 days water fasting)?

thanks,

i really don't know anything about the MC but i can't imagine it would be harmful in any way. it would just take you to a deeper level of detox.

anyone else? anyone know?

I have done master cleanse before. The fast I just finished I started off as a master cleanse and ended with water. During the water part of it I did not do the SWF (I was able to go potty on my own without it ). I would also think it would be ok to combine both - for me the water cleanse was a much deeper cleanse and the detox effects for me were much greater than on just a master cleanse.

My thoughts exactly, ladies. Thank you both for your input.
I'll be sure to share how it goes.

I tried water fasting for the first time ever yesterday. Everything went fine until around 5pm when I noticed my energy really sink and I got a slight headache. I had a get-together with some friends and couldn't face trudging through the snow 20 minutes both ways in my current condition so I mixed up some lemonade and after that I was fine.

I'm thinking of giving the water fast another try tomorrow. I was wondering what the minimum amount of time is in order for the fast to begin detoxing. I mean, was the mini water fast I did yesterday good for anything at all or was it too brief?

I recently completed a 14 day MC. This was my first ever fast and I had planned to go 40 days, but really didn't know if I could make it 2 days! :o

(Side bar - there were some days that I only wanted water, and that's all I drank...)

My results were awesome!

Day 2 - I passed gall stones (i looked them up on the web)

Baby soft skin after day 2

Complete emotional bliss (big change from my usual Type A, cranky behavior)

My migranes vanished after Day 1

My stomach did not hurt at all the entire time (I suffered from major tummy aches every day of my life as far back as I can remember)

Why did I stop? I got bored with the LA. So I went to a 90% raw diet with lots of juicing! (Cooked food gives me a headache and tummy ache)

I plan to start up a fast again next week. So that I can *go! all! the! way!* ;) this time, I'll do a few days of MC, and add juice when I feel like it. Some days will be water.

WOW! It's funny how one little statement or question can open up a whole new world!

Even though I am just tagging along here, thanks so much to everyone for contributing to this thread!

I am going to start a MC very soon...like tomorrow or Thursday. Somewhere, someone posted a recipe for using the capsules of cayenne with about 3 whole lemons, etc. so you make enough for the whole day.

Anybody? I can't remember all the measurements of like the Maple syrup...etc. HELP! WHO MAKES THEIR MC UP FOR A WHOLE DAYS WORTH AND USES THE CAYENNE CAPSULES?? Thanks...in advance.
