Trader Joes Raw Almonds

I went to Trader Joes the other day and the almonds were a great price. $3.99 a lb.

I am not sure why the price was around $4.00 less per lb then what I pay at my local health food store.

But the almonds said Pasteurized. The girl said that the California almonds had an outbreak of simonela.

Does anyone know if Trader Joes does truely carry raw almonds?

and if anyone has heard about the simonela outbreak?

Please any information that you could provide me would be appreciated.

I am just searching for ways to get the bulk foods cheaper. Mostly the almonds, dates and cashews.

Trader Joe's now calls their almonds "Almost Raw" because they are now pasturized. Awhile back there was a salmonella outbreak and their raw almonds were recalled. Since then, no more raw almonds. They've never carried organic almonds btw.
