Since I started the raw thing trying to gain weight, I lost about 10 pounds but I look bigger and healthier. Is this me losing the false self, the years of bad fats and such?

It's been about 2 months with some SAD fall-outs. I'm exercising pretty much every day.

I try to eat my biggest meal late at night. I'm eating more hemp oil and seeds. My routine is basically, a fruit snack in the morning with a table spoon of hemp oil and a table spoon of hemp seeds. Then a 1-2 pints of green smoothy with an avocado on the side. Fruit throughout the day, maybe a Lara. At night I eat a big salad, another avocado, a cob of corn and fruits.

I feel if I eat any more I'd be spending too much time just eating.

What about nuts? Are you deliberately avoiding them? Because they are pretty high in calories if you want to gain.

Nuts are quite expensive unless you know something I don't. And I don't see much in the way of raw nuts around here. I'm on a impoverished budget. I'll try to eat more Avocados.

I am underweight and have found that monomeals help. Boutenko suggests this too. Monomeals=gaining weight. I don't do many nuts/seeds b/c they make me really tired but I do try and do avocados and hemp seeds. Chia seeds are really cheap, check those out. Add olive oil to EVERYTHING.

Hi Raene -

the cheapest Chia Seeds I have found are for about $6.50/lb. Have you found them cheaper?

Flax, sesame and sunflower seeds are pretty cheap as well $2 - $4/lb for organic.

What do you mean by mono-meals? Like a meal of only apples. Or a meal of only lettuce? What kind of mono-meals do you have?

Thanks for the chia seed suggestion. :D

Yup, that's what I mean. For instance, I ate only watermelon for breakfast. I'm now snacking on grapes. Plain, nothing added, nothing mixed in...and yes, I've been known to eat a head of lettuce by itself. :)

Calorie for calorie, coconuts are a great deal. For $1.50 I can buy either a coconut or 1-1.5 avocados. I do both, but avocados less.

Here the chias are $8.99/lb...so you have it lucky I guess, but still, they're very cheap considering they expand x7.

Hello. I've read in several sources that people who go raw trying to gain weight first lose weight - as part of detox. Then they start gaining until they are at a healthy weight. I think it's perfectly normal. Good luck!

RawPaw, check this article out...it's about 1/2way down the page on gaining weight.

She talks about how eating a big meal at night actually isn't a good solution and you should eat your biggest meal in the morning.
