I went to my twin brother's home a few weeks ago. I didn't bring my vitamix and all he had was this cheapo Braun blender. I had to have my green smoothie so I reluctantly used his blender.

Well, was I ever amazed!
It uses a glas pitcher in which the stuff is blended which is a positive (no chemicals leaching into the drink).

I was amazed at how well it did.

Whenever I blend almonds or raisins in my metal vitamix there are always lots of raisins not blended or pieces of almonds left. But in the Braun blender everything gets blended. It does ice cubes too!

It just goes to prove that for just $49.00 or less you can get as good or better blender than a vitamix.

Now I must be fair and say I don't know if the braun can blend sprouted wheat seeds in large amounts to make flat bread yet as I have not tried that. It puts a strain on my vitamix to do large batches so I'm pretty sure the braun won't be able to do that unless I make smaller batches.

The braun also blends the greens to a much smaller microsize also. With the vitamix I often would have large pieces of stems from my vegies left but not with the braun. I just start it up and feed stuff into it.

For some reason, my body is telling me that my stuff tastes better too since nothing is leaching into the drink since it is done in glass.

Also, for those of you who like making almond milk shakes, this Braun is great! It blends the almonds completely unlike the vitamix. And it blends ice cubes completely.

Have fun blending!

Nice to know about the Braun. Might get one for traveling BUT, unless the plastic is heated, nothing is leaching into our drinks, especially with the new containers AND, I've had no problems with the VM not blending EVERYTHING ~ no partial anything. Methinks, if you've got a metal container (older model, correct?), you might want to change the blades.

How big is the container for the Braun?

Thank you for the review.

Very interesting! ...I will definately look into that. Very relieving that it's glass too, I hate having to trust any type of plastic....but that's just me, I have my reasons.

That would surprise me if your vita-mix didn't blend as well as a braun. because mine does so much better! i never have any bits left and it makes nuts so smooth and breaks down ice in like 30 seconds. but i have the newest version of the vita-mix.

Hi Revvell,
I have one of the older VM's that is all metal and has the spout near the bottom at the front.
According to Hulda Clark Ph.D N.D., she stated that one should not use any stainless steel since the manufacturers mix nickel in with the steel to make it stainless. The nickel is extremely carcinogenic.

I thought Vita Mix was making a different plastic container to ensure that no poison would leach into the fluids.

Thanks for posting this. I might get one to take up north to our cabin. But.... I love my Vita Mix for soup making! Could you post the model number if you have it?

Hi rawlinda, here is a source at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_k?url=search-alias%3Dgarden&field-keywords=Braun+mx2050

It is the Braun MX2050 PowerMax 525-Watt 58-Ounce Jug Blender

That's what it looks like.

I'm still using my old one from about 12 years back but got some new containers. They are VERY cool! Got a large one and a smaller one.

i'm thinking it's your vita-mix blades as well. i find it very hard to believe a 525 watt blender would do better than a 2.4 HP vita-mix. i never have any chunks at all when i use my vita-mix.

:) i'd definitely be investing in a new jug if i were you :)

and yes, vita-mix has brought out a new container... it's not released in canada yet though. i believe july is the release date up here.

It's available in Canada if you buy through ebay....technically. Don't know if they sell just the containers on ebay though.
