I have read accounts on some people who have actually gained a half inch to an inch doing yoga...
do you know anyone who has??? how is this possible?
or is it just because yoga betters your posture???
(thinking: 5'6 would be nice!:) )

I believe it.
Yoga is one of the oldest forms of exercise and it's still one of the best.

I am ready to SIGN UP. You have My full attention. I dislike going to classes. I have to work on BEING STILL. I like to bounce around. I guess I'll start watching the Class on Oxygen.
Thanks Angelia and Ladies for this Post. I will seriouly look into Yoga NOW. I walk and sit straight but 5'5 would be RAWmarkable.............

my sister (already slim and quite tall at 5'11") is now 6" after 5 years of nearly daily ashtanga yoga practice. its not just better posture, you create space between your vertebrae, making the "cushions" in between them less compressed.

Consider this ~ what is holding your spine up? Not much. What's pulling it down ~ Gravity.
When one does yoga, one is extending the spine, making it more flexible and naturally aligning it so gravity doesn't do as much damage.
I got my 1 1/2 inches back I'd lost from doing everything BUT yoga.

yup, I gained about an inch. I was about 5'5" and am now 5'6".
I couldn't understand why I weighed about 10 lbs more than normal yet still wore the same size in clothes (all my clothes still fit) and it's because I gained an inch in height + plus muscle mass. Also, yoga helps you gain in all the right places it seems! I have long slender arms and legs but now my butt actually exists!!! Yay, yoga butt rules!!

I really haven't measured myself but I do feel taller....be it better posture or even that you learn to lengthen your spine and actually do gain heighth.

OK you guys are tempting me to join a yoga class now! Is it REALLY that great? I have only heard great things about yoga but haven't actually tried it.

So, if I do yoga and grow an inch, they have to accept me into the tall women's club where the minimum is 5'10". I wonder if that's worth it? On the other hand, yoga would be good for more than just an inch in height, huh?

I agree.. Just gotta get the motivation up to actually go and DO it. (I am kinda lazy, I must admit!).
But I have been thinking about it for a few weeks, and may just go for it soon. :D

Yes, and it's a medical fact recorded for me. My whole life I'd been measured at 5'3" and 3/4 at the doctor's office. After two years of only half-hearted yoga, I last measured 5'4" and 1/2!!!!! And that's at the age of 36, considering I've read we start shrinking in only our early 30's.
We are all so blessed to be able to choose to live in a healthy manner.
