Hello friends! I have been a big fan of Alissa for awhile now. I'm embarrassed to say I have been an "off-and-oner"... would love to say that I am 100% raw all the time! But that's ok. I wanted to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Brooke and I'm from Salt Lake City, UT. My body has been screaming at me to do a cleanse and go raw for a few weeks now, which I love because then I know I'm ready. I'm getting really tired of my achy neck and back, my hurting wrists, my greasy hair, my zits (yuck), my weight, my lathargic feeling... etc.!

Since I last went raw, I have aquired a dehydrator, a Green Star and a cool slicer, so I feel MUCH more prepared. I swear, it's almost impossible to go 100% raw without these tools!

Anyway, I'm in the prep stage, working on building my dehydrated snacks, breads, etc. and will be posting my experience once I get started. It's so nice to have this so that we can not only look back on our progress (and remember why we should be raw), but also to help eachother! I need that desparately!

I had a couple of questions... are there any of you who have spouses that do NOT want to go raw? If so, do you have any coping methods? That is usually the reason why I don't stay, like when we go out to dinner or I make dinner, things like that. Any advice?

Also, I hoping to start trying to get pregnant at the end of this year. I would really like to stay raw during my pregnancy (of course with strict adherence to my diet to make sure I get plenty of every nutrient). Has anyone on this forum done that or know of any resources for pregnant raw mothers?

Thanks you guys! Can't wait to get this show on the road.

My partner isn't raw, and makes fun of me most of the time. Doesn't really support me that much, sadly. So, I usually don't make his dinner anymore. If it interfers with what I am making for myself, I don't make him anything.

Although, my partner has helped me get a veg garden going so I can have fresh veg.

I really wish he would go raw as well. He is always low energy, needs tons of sleep. He gets headaches all the time and has this weird regurgitating thing that he does which is gross and scares me. I might eventually be able to get him to go about 70 to 90%, but never 100%.

My coping method is this site, and others like it. It helps keep me focused, and gives me a lot of support! The people on here are great and wonderful resources for inspiration and ideas.

My husband is a cookie monster. He loves sweets. I do get him to drink my breakfast smoothie-superfoods,strawberries, bananas. He won't go without it. He likes the Larabars too. I'm trying to round up a dehydrator to make him some snacks. He is a big veggie eater. He likes raw veggies on a salad. Unfortunately, I found a Hostess cupcake wrapper under the car seat the other day. Oh well! He has to start somewhere.

I just make something for me and make something for the rest of the family. They are definitely not interested. This works for me. No, I'm not 100%, but it is way better than my "before" way of eating. Weekends are tough, we like to go out, I just try to stay as close to raw as possible, or at least vegan.

Good luck on thinking about YOU and doing this for YOU!!

Hey, Whitepeacock, if you haven't been to Omar's Living Cuisine in Sugarhouse make it a priority to go check it out. Yummy raw foods! My partner isn't raw but very supportive and when we lived in SLC we ate at Omar's frequently. Best wishes.

Welcome!! I wish you the best of rawesome health! My hubster is not raw, so what I like to do is meal combining. I base our meals on what I am going to eat and then prepare some small "sides" for him of the things he likes that compliment what I have prepared.
