Hi everyone. I just love marinated portobellos finished in the dehydrator but I am wondering if I should use the stems too? Would someone please respond to this? Thanks in advance.:)

I alway marinate the stems while I am marinating my portabellas. They don't taste any different and I don't like wasting food if at all possible. I also usually add in my cremini mushrooms, too, some sliced onions or sliced bell peppers with the nama shouyu, water, garlic powder and/or onion powder, and maybe some fresh or dried basil, parsley and/or other herbs for flavoring. I love to add this to my salad!

northerstars - thank you very much - I too don't like to waste food and this sounds like a good plan. I was rushing today, as usual, and didn't use them but I think I will try it your way next time. I know already that these mushrooms - marinated, and dehydrated and used in my salads are absolutely wonderful. Thanks for your suggestions.

Any particular reason why not Lucy? Or you just don't care for them? I was thinking that maybe they aren't as porous as the tops.

I don't like the stems. They are too hard/not porous enough. So I add the stems to my smoothies, in order to avoid wasting :) . I don't notice a taste difference at all.

I dont use the stems to eat as they are very tough but I do soak them in water to make a good broth base for soups.
