I'm new to raw, new to vegan, and new to this forum. :)
I am a 34 year old woman, living in the SF Bay Area, and I have a long way to go to get healthy and fit. Even though my bloodwork (cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc) is good now, it won't be for long with a BMI of around 45 and an unhealthy diet. At my current weight, it's really difficult to be active, and I think that really short-changes my 4 kids.
A few weeks ago, I started on a combination of the Mediterranean Diet and the Omega Diet (They are very similar) and started incorporating more fruits and veggies and Omega-3's into my diet. I've always been a meat eater, especially for the last 7 years or so since I've been married, and on that diet I really started to reduce that and didn't really missed it much. Then, about a week and a half ago, I was doing some research on veggie recipes and healthy eating, and happened across a raw-vegan site. I immediately became adsorbed in the idea, and read all I could from different sites, and I decided to start incorporating these foods the next day. I've been about 90% raw for the past week, and hoping to convert my husband soon. :) I've already lost about 6 pounds, and my clothes are fitting looser, and other than a few symptoms that I assume are from detoxing, I feel fantastic! I have so much more energy and focus. I do have some headaches and some strange body aches and a few hives, but I'm a trooper, and I will NOT be discouraged!
Anyway, I'll probably be around here alot. Do I have to wait till the 1st to join a 30-day challenge? Where do I find info on how to do a cleanse?
