at 30 posts you go from seedling to sprout
at 100 posts you go from sprout to root

I've noticed some status now say banned. Does this occur because of spamming or what?

Spamming, disorderly conduct, blatent violation of board rules, if a person writes and requests to be "taken off of the site" - there is no other way to do remove a person's membership but to ban them...amongst a few other reasons. It doesn't happen often, though.
