My DH is allergic to nut as well as a number of raw foods (celery, apples, pineapple), and I am allergic to citrus. Are there any recipes for snacks and desserts that do not use nuts, lemon or other citrus juice, sprouted gluten grains, or raw pineapple? I am finding not a lot of choices. I know I could substitute raw apple cider vinegar for lemon juice, but I'm afraid the taste would suffer.

Hi there. Have you tried making flax cake by mixing honey/agave with ground flax, a bit of melted coconut oil and a bit of water? Form it into a loaf and let it harden in the fridge for 30 min before eating. You can add whatever you like to this basic recipe i.e. cinnamon for cinnamon bread, or raisins for raisin bread, or shredded carrot for carrot cake.

Also, nothing beats cut up fruit with a little cinnamon for a tasty sweet snack.

How about Alissa's strawberry Crepes, they can be made with Blueberries and Instead of the cashew filling you can stuff with soemthing else.

Do you have Alissa's book?

I think he can eat raw strawberries as well as peaches. We'll have to experiment. The summer fruit season up here is not good this year, it's been too cold and gray (the highs are still often only in the 50s), and the stuff from California tends to be not so good by the time it makes its way north. Generally, local peaches and such tend not to be available until mid July anyway. Strawberries are usually ready by now though, as well as cherries, but like I said, the crops are not doing so well and are very expensive this year.

I know that when I was watching Alissa's video earlier, it seems like after a while on a 100% raw food diet, a lot of your food allergies will start clearing up.

But, until then, figure out what you CAN eat. If something calls for nuts, maybe try some seeds? There are alot of other grains that might work. Maybe quinoa, millet.

I would try cyder/cider vinegar in place of lemon juice. I think it would just be a slightly more tangy flavour.

I don't think my DH is willing to do 100% raw. He's sort of a skeptic about all things. Also, I don't want to lose too much weight because at 150, I'm fairly slim already (although my stomach still pooches out), and my blood pressure is very low -- usually the top number is between 80 and 88.

FYI: If your top number is between 180 and 188 your blood pressure is HIGH!!!

Oops, sorry about that, I meant 80 and 88.
