Hi all,

After some considerable thought I have decided to part with my beautiful Egyptian Mau, Acacia. I have been having difficulties with her since the arrival of my other male Mau, Temu. They play well together but Acacia continuously marks her "territory", as she sees it as belonging to her before the arrival of Temu and has a bit of abandonment issues she brought with her from the breeder's home. While I understand that and have tried to work with her I am at my wits end, so that being said, does anyone know of any great animal rescues that don't kill, or sites where I can (I'm going to post on PetFinders) post some pics and information about her so she can live with someone wonderful that will give her the same level of care I'm giving her? I also have to take into consideration that the person or family that takes her in must keep up with her raw feeding diet.

Thanks for any help.

Are they neutered (or spaded)?? because that might solve the problem.. I am not an expert or anything but my kitty started going crazy and marking his territory because another cat was always around my house.. and when i started asking people about a solution.. they said to get his neutered (or spaded).. (i still don't know which one is for a girl and which one is for a boy:p). But that definitely solved the problem.. because he sprayed everywhere and miaued all the time!
.. if that doesn't help you than im sry you have to get rid of the kitty! :(

Thanks! A few other people said that and they are about to get their spay and neuter surgery within the month. Acacia is the girl, the laid back, debonair (sp?) boy is Temu. :D

Aye , that should really healp.

I am a huge proponent of spaying and neutering all pets anyway:D

I have several rescued cats. (Or should I say, they have ME...!)

They are ALL spayed and neutered.

I am also a strong advocate for spaying/neutering.

It does calm down the territorial marking and also most aggressions. It takes a bit more time for females to recover from the surgery since spaying is a bit more intensive, but they should both benefit. You're doing them a great service by getting them spayed & neutered!

I hope it helps your little girl, Acacia and her territorial marking!

I've also noticed for my cat clan, that giving the 'new' cat MORE attention since they are generally a bit more scared, etc., is part of the reason that the others will get territorial or mark. I know it has to do with their 'space', but also with their 'human'. So, be sure to give Acacia LOTS of positive attention. Hopefully, that will help her to feel secure. Sometimes territory marking is about lack of security.

Would really love to know how it goes for you.
