I'm starting on the 23rd! :) Have you all ever done an MC before? This will be my third and I'm so excited about it. They can be hard, but the sense of clarity control just can't be beat. . . . I can't wait to begin.

Hey everyone. Today I am starting a MC today. I am trying to take it one day at a time, but I would like to do 30+ days in the long run.
Hey do you think we should make a place for us to post? The old one seems kinda quiet now.

Yes i have done 20 day juice feast and 10 day MC in the beginning of the year. Since it's the beginning of summer, i want to start fresh again. At first it was hard the first few days but it became quite simple. I did not have to worry about shopping and preparing food everyday. plus i felt great all over. This week i began preparring myself by eating whole fruits and veggies hoping that will relieve some of the detox symptons

Myself and a friend are interested. Are there any cleanses that are better than others? I'm not sure which one to choose.

I am looking to start one on the 29th, Sunday.
Ihave tried the MC in the past and have never been successful. I truly believe I need to do this for many reasons so having fast buddies would be a huge help.

Hi Hygeia :)
I'll be still going on the 29th so feel free to post here and I'll try remember to check it or send me an email to aliciapaterson@xtra.co.nz
That applies to anyone else fasting of course!
I'm on day three today and feeling so much better than yesterday when my detox headache was in full swing!

Day One
I'm drinking my first bottle of the lemonade....ugh...didn't put enough MS in it. I'll transition to less MS by the end of the cleanse but right now I need it. It's a bit too tart. Oh, and just so you all know, Chocolate Smooth Move is nasty. I wasn't a huge fan of the regular stuff, but the "chocolate" is vile. *shudder* I need to go shopping and get the regular. I tried the Yogi Get Regular tea a couple weeks ago and although it tasted better, it didn't do a blessed thing.
I can't handle the SWF on work mornings--I may try it this weekend though. I've never had success with it before but I'm hoping that it will work this time.

Hi fellow master cleansers, I'll be starting my third MC tommorrow. I'm hoping for buddies since my last MC was very successful with the wonderful support that I recieved from those on this site doing it too. I went 35 days and I'm looking to do about 30 days again. I really need it for so many reasons. Well Good luck to all of you and I will try to check in regularly.
Happy cleansing:)

06-25-2008, 05:12 AM
Wow 35 days? I wish I could make it past 7 days. I have tried a couple of times in the past and haven't made it past the first 2 or 3 days. I obviously wasn't as commited as I thought I was.
I plan on starting this Sunday and wan't to complete at least 10 days but would LOVE to complete a 21 day and a 45 day would be amazing!
I also have many reasons for doing this and I hope they are all strong enough to make me through it.
I wanted to start Saturday but I have a family event that has been planned for a while and it includes tailgating all afternoon at a soccer game so I don't want to set myself up to fail the first day, so Sunday it is.
I'm so happy I found this thread, the support from everyone else here will be a huge help.
Oh and about the SWF? Yuck! There is no way I can tolerate that, at all. I'll be sticking with the laxative tea instead.

Day Two
The headache has started to abate--thank heavens. I've done two of these before and I've NEVER had such horrible caffine withdrawal (and I was drinking it regularly then too.) *shrug* Has me a little worried about today and tomorrow, since the 2nd and 3rd day are typically the worst.
I wonder if being 90% raw over the past two months makes the MC detox worse? Any ideas?
Haven't been able to drink any lemonade this morning. I feel on the verge of vomiting just at the smell of it. I know that I need to drink it....I'm chugging water and trying to get my gag reflex under control. :)

Hygeia: Really do your best to commit to the full 10 days. In the words of Peter Glickman (who wrote a book on the MC):
But having done 20 day, two 17 day, 13 day, two 10 day, 5 day and 3 day (a social event came up and I just quit.) Master Cleanses, I can tell you that anything less than 10 is not good and 3 days is masochistic.
Day 1 doesn't even count. Days 2 and 3 are the very worst. :P Day 7 is not good either. So if you only go 5, you've suffered for 2 and been good on 2 and not even gotten to the point (usually day 8 ) where your head clears and a person's natural sunny disposition appears. "
If I allow myself to think "I'll TRY to make it 10 days," I'd never last. Instead, I establish is it in my mind as a non-negotiable. "I WILL make it 10 days." I don't even allow myself to think about the possibilty of quitting early. With both of my cleanses (16 and 21 days) I started out expecting the 10 days. I made it to 10 and felt so fantastic I set new goals. But you HAVE to get past that first week to feel those benefits...and you have to have the right mindset to get there.

I'm on Day 5 today and I'm really not finding this cleanse much of a struggle at all - which is a good thing of course :) the only thing that gets me is when my flatmate is cooking and it smells so yum - but nothing cooked tastes as good as raw feels :p
My first MC I was always hungry and tired and feeling pretty ugh so am definitely enjoying this cleanse.
Glad you're starting to feel better Lynie. As for being 90% and the detox being worse, I really have no idea sorry! I would guess that it just depends on how much has detoxed out of your cells already.. I won't speculate because I really just don't know! Hope you're doing well :)

Wow Alicia, glad to hear it's going so easily for you. I hope it goes that way for me. I am so excited to get started, I can't wait.
:D
Good point Lynie.......and I know that too, don't know why I was having the "hope" in there. I know that you have to be determined for it and just do it.

I'm feeling quite sick in the stomach (probably the laxative tea doing it's thing) but it's ok if I don't get heaps of the drink in isn't it? Do I need to be worried about the days that I don't want to drink much?
Hygeia
06-26-2008, 09:21 AM
I've never made as far as you are Alicia but so I don't know the answer to that. I just wanted to say that I hope it passes for you because there is nothing worse then that sicky feeling.
I hope someone else can answer this for you because I'd be curious since I will be starting mine soon.
Stick with it and try to get down what you can.

06-26-2008, 10:09 AM
Alicia--I'm actually having the same experience. It isn't as bad today, but on my first and second day I felt I would vomit if I even looked at lemonade.
I've heard various opinions on this. Ultimately, a lot of the "sick" feelings you experience (along with pains, breakouts, etc) is just detox. According to some, the more lemonade you drink, the gentler the detox will be. That is why a water fast is so harsh---there is nothing to slow down the detox. I've done one of those and it is awful.
Whether or not that's true, it is true that the less you drink, the fewer benefits you'll get from the basic ingredients. You need the lemon to dissolve the gunk in your system, you need the pepper to metabolize your system and grate away at your inner intestine, and you need the MS to give you energy and nutrients. It may not be bad to drink less than the recommended amount, but you may miss out on some of the benefits of the cleanse.
This coming from someone who had less than 2 servings of lemonade yesterday! Like you, I felt sick and I just wasn't hungry. I drank almost a gallon of water, but couldn't stomach the lemonade. I'm going for at least a liter of lemonade today...(approximately 3 servings)
Day Three
My headache is gone--thank HEAVENS. I'm feeling brighter than I was before, which is strange considering day 3 is typically my worst day. Go figure. :) I have a bit of hunger, but the lemonade still just doesn't appeal to me. *shrug*
The major difference between this cleanse and my previous ones is my starting point. With my last two cleanses, I lept into it from a straight-up SAD diet. I was in the middle of a binge-fest, at my high weight, and just wanted a quick fix. It was very effective, to be sure, and I was so happy to do it to put a stop to my binging. I GRATEFULLY pushed the food away.
This time, though, I've been raw for almost 2 months. I love, love, love it. I miss eating this time, where I didn't before. I want a big salad so badly. I miss my avocados and my green smoothies....
Anyway. Oh well.
I ate cooked for for two days before the cleanse (bad, bad, yes, I know) and my weight went up several pounds. It's now down to where it was before I ate the cooked food. *yipee*

charika: have you started yet? How have your first couple of days been?
alicia: have things still been going smoothly? How's the sick feeling?
Hygeia: When are you starting, again? Getting reved up? :)
Hygeia
06-26-2008, 02:55 PM
I plan on starting on this Sunday, the 29th. I am all reved up to go but now having concerns about picking that date to start. Since next weekend is the 4th of July holiday weekend, I'm wondering if I should make it through that first.
I'm not trying to use it as an excuse but I also don't want to set myself up for failure yet again. I know I could make it through but what if we visit family during a bbq or something. And as supportive as my husband is with my going vegetarian and raw and all that, I don't want him to feel like I'm making him miss out on a fun holiday weekend because I'm not eating. He works 6 days a week and works very hard for us so I'm wondering if I should wait another week.
No, I think I'll stick with this Sunday. There will always be another excuse, like my bday on the 9th of July then hubbys at the end of July and so on.

hygeia: I definitely get you about not setting yourself up! I actually delayed my start by a few days because a friend wanted to go out to eat/drink with me on Monday, and I decided to give myself that day. I waited to start the cleanse until the morning after.
If you think you can do it, more power to you. Social obligations are the worst. ...

Hello everybody :) lots of messages since I last looked yesterday, it's nice to hear how you're all getting on.
I am on day 6 today. The sick feeling passed after an hour yesterday. I always get hot flushes and feel sick when toxins are releasing and when they leave my body I'm on top of the world again. I plan to do a salt water flush as it's the weekend tomorrow. I'm not game enough to do them on working days! Last time I did the MC I had to allow an hour after drinking the salt water to be safe to leave the house.
Not sure how long I'm going to go for I'm just going to travel this journey and see how I feel :)

alicia: you're brave----I can't bring myself to do the SWF. I've done it twice and I just couldn't get it to work. I just laid there, feeling bloated and disgusting, and never had a good BM. *shrug* It's Smooth Move for me, all the way.
Hygeia~~Just felt compelled to respond to your comment about setting yourself up for failure due to coming events. You're right, there will always be SOMETHING to derail you...if you LET it. If you want to do the MC, then be positive and fully committed. It's 90% mind & 10% physical!! Your MC should not have any impact on your husband's enjoyment of family, friends, and food. During my last MC, my husband and I were invited to a gathering of old friends. I decided to go (knowing there would be lots of yummy foods, desserts, and drink) and kept reminding myself that I was going for the company. I got to tell a few people about my cleanse and stayed away from the kitchen. I sat and visited with old friends and new and left feeling such a sense of accomplishment and CONTROL!! It can be done...YOU decide how you do it. You can feel left-out and miserable or you can feel in total control and on top of the world. But you have to decide ahead of time how you will handle it. I am also planning to start on Sunday, the 29th. I was going to wait until Monday, but your posts made me decide to commit to the 29th so we can start at the same time. I have put it off long enough. Like you mentioned, there will always be something going on to make me put it off. I can still do everything I want to do while on MC (except EAT!!). I can eat later. Right now I need to cleanse. Hope you will go ahead and start on the 29th...we CAN do this and we WILL!! Thanks for your encouragement and I'm looking forward to being a part of this thread.

Yay for you SuBu that is awesome! :)
I am on day 6 today, still trucking alone nicely but as it is Saturday here I have discovered that I want to eat because I'm around the house more! But that's ok as SuBu said eating can wait. I have a mighty fine rash all over my body from detox - sooo sexy! better out than in! much love to you all :)

Hey guys,
I am on day 9 out of 10 (yeah!!!!) for those who think they cannot make it, well let me tell you my tempted week... day 3 - went to lunch with old friends; day 5 went to a raw potluck; day 8 went to a party were a friend's grandmother cooked great food. I was so tempted to eat on those days but i hung in there. I let everyone know that i was fasting ( of course i got a lot of negatitive responses). Most people said they could not survive after a couple of hours. I had to put up a good debate the benefits of fastings. So if i failed then i could not encourage others to live a healthy lifestyles.

Congratulations to ya'll on doing a MC and getting through it. I tried to drink the MC but after a couple drinks I couldn't drink anymore because of the way the lemon was burning my tongue and my throat was hurting at the time. I then tried to eat a lemon another time but it burned my tongue.. I don't know why it would do this but it made me very unlikely to eat another or put it in my food.

Probably because lemons are very acidic; that can't be healthy.
Hello all. Well, I must confess. I didn't start MC on the 29th as planned. My husband decided we were going on a "date" that lasted into the night!!! Now THAT'S something I'd postpone my MC for!!! It was a wonderful day but we did eat and drink way too much. But today I am on my cleanse and ready to feel in control of my life! I made my SM tea and brought it with me to drink on my way to work, replacing my ritual mug of coffee. I haven't started drinking my lemonade yet...I want to find a straw in the office kitchen if possible as I left mine at home. I'm very mentally ready for this and am looking forward to hearing from all of you on your progress. I want to go longer than the six days I did last time. In fact, I'd like to go as long through July as I can. Let's see where this journey takes us all!!
I hope I'm not alone in this journey!!
Rough day for #1. Coffee headache and my thighs are aching (what's that about?). Ready to go home and go to bed! I'll definitely make it an early night tonight and be up early to get in that SWF. Looking forward to that light, empty feeling. Hope you are all doing well and will post your progress. Happy Fasting!

OCEANEE!!!! I'm so glad you're here! I'm hoping we're not alone! Maybe everyone's waiting till after the 4th. Next week we'll have a whole crew to MC with!
The headache's gone today and I'm so relieved. SWF didn't do its job this morning but I'll keep trying. I may try doing the salt in 2 oz of water and chasing with the rest of the quart. I've read that's effective and more tollerable. We shall see.
Keep me updated on your progress. So glad to have a partner on this journey! xo

Hey Subu ~I am excited that you are only one day ahead of me and I am racing to catch up....slurp slurp of the lemonade !
I need one of those bikers camel pacs as I tend to run around at work and not drink....here it is 2 PM and I need to get drinking or else I will be a horrible one to be with tonight !
Who was it when I was fasting last time who came up with "go free toxic fat cells go free.... ( Something like that....) Vivafree?
Love that mantra!!
Anyway, I am always impressed with those that do the swf, I did it my first master cleanse 3 years ago but I can only stomach the sm tea now . I'm good with that.

Hey everyone...yoo hoo....anyone.....???:D I feel great and wow ...why do I ever slip off the raw wagon? Please oh please my dear inner self let those days be behind me now.
Great dreams last night. I find I am very dream active when I do a cleanse...dreaming of past people, past hot men ( hmmmm) and fun weirdness mixed in.
I'll check back later - hope I've got some company !
Oceanee
Hey Oceanee, I'm here!! Wow! Love to hear more about those dreams!!
I think everyone's waiting for next week. What do you think? That's ok. We'll have several days under our belt and be able to assure them they will survive!! Day 3 for me. Not hungry or tired anymore. Ready to exercize. SWF not working well so I'm going to stop getting up at 4 am to do it and just go with SM in the morning and at night. Rather get my sleep! I'll see how that works for a couple of days. Keep me posted!

Well, as hard as it is to admit, I stopped the cleanse on Monday.
This cleanse was different from the rest--and in a way, it was much worse. I actually had fewer "cravings" than normal (except for raw foods!) and rarely felt hungry. I had enough energy to walk 40 minutes each night. However, my body just felt like there was something wrong, like I shouldn't be doing this right now. I don't know what it was. With my former cleanses, I always felt like it was hard but that it was right. With this cleanse, I just kept feeling that this was very wrong. I don't know how to describe it any more than that.
So, I decided to stop. I'm back on all-raw foods and only gained back one pound of the 5 I lost. And, most importantly, my sense of well-being is restored. I hate quitting anything, but I feel that this time it was for the best.
LynieD~~Good for you for listening to your body. Once you determine it's not your mind saying STOP but your body, it's best to listen. Glad you are feeling well...and isn't that what this whole process is all about? Thanks for your encouraging updates along the way.

Hi everyone, yes I decided to wait until after the holiday.
As much as I was really really really ready to start on the 29th (I now really wish I had but it's ok), I decided that I would wait through the holidays.
You had some good points Susan and I agree with them. I wasn't worried about feeling left out or anything, I know I can deal with that because I am committed. But we have many plans for the weekend that we have had for many weeks now, long before I decided I wanted to fast. And many of the plans just will not work while fasting. If it was simply hanging in a friends yard with the casual atmosphere of a bbq or something, yes that I could handle. But some of our plans just wont work while fasting for different reasons.
So as ready as I was, I will be completely ready and clear of other distractions AFTER the holiday.
I can't wait and I hope there are still others here doing it then.

Subu~Love to tell you about my steamy hot dreams but you can check me out on My Space (not)......Glad we are in this together! Hope your night went well. Just think when you read this you'll be on Day 4 and I usually find by then it's clear sailing for awhile. By the way I am impressed that you were getting up at 4AM to do the swf ~ ugg..I just gag thinking about:eek: .....It's all come out ~ not to worry.
LynieD~It is so helpful for all of us to read about other experiences and your stopping the fast because you paid attention and listened to something within telling you to stop is huge. Also, I was just thinking about letting go, going with the flow today due to an experience I am partially creating. It is a lesson isn't it? I mean to realize it's not that you didn't finish you just adjusted your ending. And you didn't quit at all. I don't even know how long you fasted but fasts are of all different lengths of time. Feel accomplished and content.

Hey everyone! i'm starting my Lemonade MC tomorrow/today July 7th. Never done this before. A little anxious about it but i want to clean my colon. I'll do the 10 days cleanse. Hi Joon,
I will be starting a MC this saturday. I was going to start last week but chose to wait until after the holiday and I need to start on a Saturday (that's just me) so it will be the 12th for me.
When you say bootcamp do you mean military bootcamp? I'm no pro at this but if that's what you mean, I know you will be pushed to the limits mentally and physically with that so I'm not sure I would start a MC the same day. You may be fine but I don't know.
You will go through detox with the MC and it could be nothing or it could tire you out mentally and physically as well so not sure if the two should go together.
I'm sure somebody else will give you better advice then I can.
I wish you the best of luck with both.

I'm sorry, should have explained better. No at a gym type boothcamp exercise but the woman who teaches it probably was a marine (lol) she'e tough on ya . Have my first boothcamp exerience 4th of July for 2 hours and she was good!!! I'm still sore today. I'm up at 5:30 ready to drink the salt water flush first while i'll prepare the lemonade for work. Hope all comes out well:D and Best results for you too when you start,

Yikes...be careful with heavy exercise on the MC. I know some people exercise through it but my body usually needs rest or light exercising...In all the reading I have done it is never recommended to do do heavy exercising.Maybe hold off till that is over?
I just finished a short MC as I had done one in May for almost 3 weeks...and on day 6 I was a complete limp noodle....
Good luck~

Just logged back on before leaving for work. I'll see how i feel as the day goes on but i think i screwed up my MC already. Did do the math quite right. I used the 1/8th tsp. for the cayanne pepper, took a little sip  and OMG! I felt the heat baby all the way down my throat. I hope it's okay to have a little more pepper if tolerated--Yes? I can't believe i drank the salt water all in an hour. Difficult to drink large amount of liquids due to gastric bypass surgery 2 yrs. ago. I think i'll dilute the MC with water today to minimize the heat. Will log on tonight after exercise or work.

Hi everyone :)
I went away last week and although i wanted to do the MC while on vacation, it didn't work out. I just got back and plan to start tomorrow (July 8th). I will check in then to post how my day 1 goes. It's good to see you again Oceanee:D i know you said this will be a short fast for you this time around. So not sure if you will be here during mine, but I'm glad to see you're doing well.

Charika~ Glad you posted ! I wish I was doing this the same time as you but 6 days was long enough this time.My body was really telling me to spend time eating raw and start exercising.... Funny as you loose that high going off the MC...at least I do even on a little one. I wish I could do it all the time ! I'll be reading as you send those toxic fat cells free:D !!

Hi everyone! This is day 8 for me. Longest I've stuck to one before. Pretty proud of myself! Of course, I did deviate this past weekend and slipped into the juice feasting thread. Juicing got me through the cookouts. It made me feel like I was having something special. I stuck pretty much with the MC, though and am back on it. I will transition into juicing when I finish with the MC or I'll keep doing both. I still do the SWF every morning and SM tea morning and night.
Just want to holler from the rooftops! Today is my 1 yr anniversary on raw! I first heard of raw and Alissa Cohen on 7/4/07 and jumped right in on 7/7/07. Straight from the SAD world. Was sooo good for months and then got cocky! Thought I could dabble and ride the fence. Doesn't seem to work that way if you want to be healthy, fit, and thin! Well, this MC is for cleaning old gunk out and starting a fresh, raw journey. I'll do the MC until I don't think I should anymore. Liquids are addictive! I love that light feeling I get without solids in me. But it's a means to an end...and that end is to be RAW. Hope to be here when everyone gets started and we can all ride this train together. Support can be beautiful! And once we all get going there'll be plenty of support!
Happy Fasting!

I can't wait to get started!!!!!! I figure if I start Saturday then I'll have two full days where I have no plans and I can adjust, meditate and just flat out have the peace to listen to my body and be ready to do it as long as my feels it needs it.
I really hope this will finally throw me back into high raw like I used to be. I know how wonderful it feels and I really need to get back there.
I am so excited to do this, I know I will be successful this time. And I will need all the support that is around here.

OK!!! First day did not go well. First of all, i did not do the math and put way too much pepper in my lemonade:eek:  My body was on fire. Had to throw away. Will not put pepper in till ready to drink. So today will be the first. Started off with the salt water-done! Now, on with the drinks- attempting 12- 8ozs today along with water. I'll need a paddle with all these fluids:D Went to Bootcamp for an hour:eek: Sore but feel wonderful. Will walk today as this is the first fast day. Take care will communicate tomorrow.

Ok it's Friday night and I'm all set to start tomorrow. I got my SM tea (I absolutely can not do the SWF, have tried many times) and my lemons and maple syrup and it's all set up on the counter.
Woo hoo!!! I'm going to be successful this time, I can just feel it.
I'll check in sometime tommorow.

I am finishing up Day 10 now! I hope to go for 20 days, but am making mini-goals. (14, 17, 20 days). So.. now my focus is just reaching the 14-day mark! At that point I will re-assess and decide if I will shoot for 17 days, etc..
Good luck everyone... :D

Hi, I'm about to begin the MC tomorrow, & just wanted to ask if anyone can share the best sites/links for learning more about exactly how to do this, & more about the process...
It's been awhile sinse I attempted it, & read about it, & I have lotsa questions...for example, I have this vague memory of reading about some people doing it & having WORMS come out!!!
Anyone experience THAT???

Hi everyone............I haven't checked in until now because I have been sick.
First I'll let you know that I am not still on the MC. I remember now why I haven't been succesful in the past with it, I just can't stomach the lemonaid. It is so gross to me, even lifting it to my mouth to sip makes me gag when I smell it. Has anyone else ever had problems with this? I never hear anyone complain about the lemonaid but for some reason it makes me sick.
So my first day, Saturday, was pretty rough. Since I couldn't stand the lemonaid I was drinking more water and not enough of the lemonaid. But because of this I was feeling dizzy and exhausted by mid afternoon. I fell asleep for a few hours in the early evening and when I woke up I kept feeling nausaus. I knew this was because I wasn't getting enough of the juice so I tried to drink more and again I couldn't get it down. Later in the evening I started throwing up for about a half hour and oddly enough felt a bit better after that.
So off to bed I went and began day two pretty much the same. By early evening I realized I can't do the MC if I am unable to drink the lemonaid. Because I was feeling dizzy and exhausted again since I wasn't drinking enough of it.
So off the fast I went. I am so disapointed and I don't know why it is so gross to me. Detox I could deal with but not being unable to drink the lemonaid and not getting the nutrients I need to make it through the day I couldn't deal with.
:(
I am sooooooooooooooooo jealous of you who are able to do this.
I think I need to look into a juice fast, I know I could drink that everyday. LOL

Here is a link to the full text of the Master Cleanse book written by Burroughs. Its a fast and fascinating read, and a MUST read if you are planning on trying the Master Cleanse. http://www.blackdoctor.org/TheMasterCleanse.pdf
This is a pretty good forum for asking questions and learning from the experiences of others. http://www.therawfoodsite.com/forum/index.php Warning, reading people's personal logs where they detail all their cravings for junk food is not always the best idea while you are actually in the throes yourself! :p
I just started today, this is the anniversary of my first MC that brought me to raw foods last year. I went 11 days last year, will do 15 days this year (end of the month).

Hygeia,
There are plenty of other ways to cleanse so don't worry. (Is it the cayenne? I have to take that in a shot of water separately so as not to ruin the lemonade...if it is the maple, you might try using stevia for half the sweetness as I do, or taking syrup/molasses/etc on the side and sweetening entirely with stevia. I just love the maple). Juice fasts, as you mentioned, are excellent. Back when I was a student without a juicer, I did a one week all-grape cleanse during grape season in CA. It felt very similiar to my body compared to the MC.

I don't know if it's the maple or the cayenne, but the smell of it is just so horrible that everytime I realized I needed to drink more I got those shivery goose bumps and dreded the thought of it.
Oh well, I guess the MC just isnt' for me. There are plenty of other ways to detox so I think I just need to jump into full raw and go with it. Then later do a juice fast.
I am so happy to hear from those of you who are successful with the MC, keep it up and keep sharing with us.

Maybe just try plain lemon juice in water or with another sweetner in addition to your regular raw diet? That might still help you lose weight and stay healthy detoxing somewhat.

When you go to the bathroom you have diarrhea all the time and I have read about "butt pee".. is that diarrhea or what???

Hi everyone,
I'm new to forums, haven't gone raw yet but am starting MC today (I figured it's a good way to get started on eating healthy). Tried the MC once before got in 9 days (cheated once) would like to get much further this time with your support. Besides the obvious swf that is distasteful I also don't like the groung cayenne pepper so I use it very sparingly. I just found out there is a liquid available. Does anyone know if it better?

Demiro -- the liquid cayenne that I've seen is a tinture -- mixed with a slight amount of alcohol. but... cayenne is cayenne.. and it's still gunna be spicy and hot...
Maybe if you start out with just a little bit - then over a few days up the amount a little at a time... the cayenne really helps clear the toxins out of your system... so it is very important to take it (even just a teeny bit is better than none!)
Also -- I don't do the swf... I swell up like a balloon... I use the Yogi Get Regular Tea... Morn uses the Smooth Move tea I believe... you can also get a capsule from the hfs called... cascara sagrada... it helps to stimulate the peristaltic action of the colon and encourages bowel movements... I use that quite often instead of the swf... and I can almost time the BM so that makes it a little easier for my work schedule...
good luck on the MC.. i'll be posting probably almost everyday -- it helps me stay on the fast -- by being accountable and... there's also so much encouragement and support -- and while fasting -- that's always helpful!

that is so interesting.. I never realized that would stimulate the bowels. I don't drink apple juice cuz it really affects me (the natural sugars gives me a major crash about 20min after I drink it)... very interesting though - and way better I would imagine than a laxative tea. hmmm....
okay... MC report for yesterday (day 1 for me)... I had about 16oz of MC drink (I had a 32oz bottle - but my boss swiped about 8oz of it) grrrr...
Since I had only planned on drinking the 32oz at work - i was unprepared to make any more. Sooo for the rest of the day I had about 136oz of water or so.... that's like four 32oz bottles of water plus another 8oz glass before bed.
This morning I'm starting out with a 32oz bottle of water with a smidge of maple syrup in it (about 1 teaspoon). I will be having the MC drink around lunch time I think - then finish off the day with water again. So far so good... I managed 6 hours of hula yesterday and felt strong. Good thing is that by next monday - I will have 'hit my stride' and be past the major detox symptoms so I should do just fine in hula again...

Day 1 and I am detoxing with a mild headache and peeing a lot. I won't do the salt water flush since am afraid of bloating. My body can't take a lot of salt.

Hi, everyone! I'm on Day 16 of the MC. So far so good, but I started to struggle a bit yesterday. I hope that today is easier.
I somehow manage to drink the salt water in about 20-25 minutes, but the salty stays with me the WHOLE day! No matter how many times I brush my teeth, use mouthwash, drink water, drink the lemonade, I still have the salt in my head. I just can't seem to get used to it.
I started out using just a teensy bit of cayenne, and slowly built up. This method has worked well for me.
Get It Going by The Republic of Tea is the laxative tea that I use. One day, because of an early morning appointment, I drank the tea instead of the SWF. The tea just didn't have nearly the same effect on my body as the SWF. Not even close.
I usually get up 2 1/2 hours before my first student comes (I'm a math tutor) so that I have time to finish with the morning cleansing, which means I'm up at 6:00 drinking the salt water *cocktail*.
I sat and visited with old friends and new and left feeling such a sense of accomplishment and CONTROL!! It can be done...YOU decide how you do it. You can feel left-out and miserable or you can feel in total control and on top of the world. But you have to decide ahead of time how you will handle it.
SuBu, this is so empowering! Wonderful attitude! Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day! Happy cleansing!

Since last Thursday, I have lost 8lbs so far. I am doing this until August 16th. I did cheat with some veggie "broth". My tongue couldn't take the sweetness and tartness of the lemonade. Drinking water or unsweetened tea didn't help to get rid of that shriveled up tongue feeling from drinking sweet lemonade for 5 days straight.

I'm contemplating starting this. Anyone still on it or willing to start and be a buddy?
I tried it a few years ago and couldn't handle it. The detox was so bad. I was pale, had a headacke, sick to my stomach, very weak and sweating. They sent me home from work because I looked so bad. I made it a whole day and a half. I was (still am) strict vegan but still got my butt kicked by detox. I've been raw almost 10 weeks and am hoping it won't be so bad this time. I'm also in training for the LA Marathon and hope I will be able to continue some training while on the fast. I want to do it now while I'm at 5 or 6 miles and not when I'm doing 20 some miles.
Chime in if you're still on or thinking about it, please.

I am on my 18th day, going for 21 this time, so almost done. I feel great, but for last 3 days I didnt to SWF, but senna tea and l lost 1 more lb.
I noticed that tea works for me better than SWF... I just hate BM for whole day long.
In almost 3 weeks I lost only 4 lbs even I did everything what possible to make my weight go down... NO way! But I am happy, almost done and going for Juice Fast next week :) or for a month or so:)

I want to start now, but I have a really long drive on Saturday, so wonder if I should wait til Sunday. I get tired driving already... and that would be my third day. I've never managed a fast longer than one day before. I get headachey and all I want to do is sleep. This time I feel like I HAVE to do it, for a variety of reasons.

I'm looking to start Monday. I have marathon training Sat. and lots to do on Sunday. I'm not sure I can handle the fast but in case I can, I want to detox and feel like crap mid-week. Of course, I'm hoping I don't feel like crap but just in case I do, I want to time it the best I can. I used to be able to fast for weeks at a time but that changed. I'm hoping after being raw for several weeks, I'll be able to handle it again.

I am now on day 10 of my first master cleanse. Other than some aches in my legs I feel pretty good (even only running on a few hours of sleep!), and I have lost 2 inches in my waist:D I guess I can stop tommorow but I am going to try to make it to at least 14 days. I am trying to heal candida overgrowth and I want to really make sure everything is back to normal before I eat again. I think just knowing I can stop at any point now might make things a bit easier.
