Hey everyone,
I know this may sound crazy but every time I have tried to make one of Alissa's nut recipes, it shuts down my Vita Mix- Really. I have to stop every 2 seconds to unclog the blades, I end up adding 10 times more water than the recipes asks for to the mix just to get it to barely blend but I can never get it smooth- and it takes me up to 30 minutes to even get it chunky! I know this sounds ridiculous YET it is true. Its driving me nuts, pun intended, and I am getting really frustrated. What is the procedure for blending soaked nuts with very little liquid in the VitaMix so it comes out smooth and doesn't take 30 minutes? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Hi there~
I have a VM and use it every day...what recipes are you making??

I don't care what the manufacturer says--the Vita-Mix is only good for blending things with water (and then it works great!). A food processor will work much better for making nut butters and pates and for chopping.

yes, pls... can you let us know which recipe you are attempting to make?

I've made nut butters, creams and dips in my Vita-Mix just fine...though, I will say that it did take a bit of trial and error to determine good ratios. It can be done.

how much water is very little and with what amount of nuts were you trying to blend?
