Hello All,
My name is Maria and I need a lifestyle makeover. I am going to be 30 this year so I think I need to get off my butt (literally) and get healthy. We live in CT now, but are hoping to head to TX by the end of the summer. I have 2 little ones, 3 and 6, and a wonderful husband who would also like to start this journey with me.
I worked at Barnes and Noble for a while and every time I passed the Diet and Nutrition Isle I saw Natalia Rose's book Raw Food Diet and it kept calling out to me, so I decided to have a looksee into what a "raw" diet was and found lots of information online and these great online communities. I am ready to go for it and can't wait to get rid of the old cookbooks and start using some "raw" cookbooks and recipes.
I also can't wait to get to know some of you and glean as much knowledge as I can from you all :-)

Welcome!!! You'll find so much info here. I've found it to be a loving and supportive board.
Good luck on your move, too. Depending on where you'll be in Texas, you should have access to lots of great raw foods.
Ask away. We all love questions and if we don't know the answers we're probably having the same questions, so ask anything food/health related :)

Welcome to this new journey. It's worthwhile. You will have lots of support here. Tons of recipes and pictures to be found. Look forward to being an inspiration to you but you will find I am not alone. Try seeing if there is a meetup or raw vegan grounds in your area. Look at livingnutrition.com as I think they have listing of places possibly in your area. I do this lifestyle regardless at business meeting, at a church or among new/old friends. My husband had a seizure over 30 years ago. He wasn't interested in changing, but did then, with total victory in 6 weeks. We're committed to living this way--it's our choice. We are 99% raw, many times 100% but we don't beat ourselves up on the percent.

Both are Melissa's blogs. Alisha here is helping with these blogs as Melissa may be homeless as I write.

If you liked the raw food book you read, you have to get Alissa's book and DVD....both you and your husband will love them. They will give you all the information to help you be successful with raw and living foods. Good Luck.
