In fairfax county, in Vienna, is Sunflower Vegetarian Restaurant. They have lots of salads, miso soup, fresh juice and one lone raw entree LOL. It is a quaint, funky place and the people are really nice. It is right off of rt. 123. For those who are not raw, they have a ton of vegan options.

There is also a Whole Foods Market in Vienna, so afterwards, you can just drive down the road to the store and stock up on essentials.

In Loudoun county, on Saturdays, in Leesburg, is a large farmers market.

Thanks, Andra. We were so busy this visit that we didn't venture out for a RAW restaurant. However, my 17 y.o. granddaughter who is a vegetarian suggested that we go the next time I'm in town ---which will be next march. We'll do it then---go to:) Sunflower.

Wow, I can't believe someone came to Loudoun and Fairfax on vacation. I've lived in Fairfax for 8 Years and Loudoun for 15, born in Arlington.
So, yes, when you come back you MUST go to Sunflower. This is me and my hubby's most favorite place in the world, we go there so often the staff know us on a first name basis.
Sunflower has a huge array of vegan food, but most of it is cooked. They have two delish salads that I get now, the Raw World and the MultiColored Salad with avocado added. SO good! If you want, you can see their menu at the webbie: www.crystalsunflower.com.

I wish we had more in the way of raw here, but alas, its about the same as anywhere else: salad bars, etc. We do have MOM's (My Organic Market) that has a lot of fresh and raw stuff, but its not a restaurant.

Another nice thing about sunflower is that they have two fresh squeezed juices via a juicer machine--carrot and orange; both are raw. They have one raw "entree" on the specials page called "Raw World". I actually got this once and did not like it--it was a large salad with a lot of different raw seaweeds and ingredients I was not familiar with and such......I prefer their simple salads, actually. But the raw entree is nice to know about.

Vienna has a farmers market also, I think it is on Saturdays. If you come in March, it will be closed. But, Whole Foods is right down the street so you can stock up on stuff.

Fruitandveggies--I wish Sunflower would have more raw, too. Great Sage in Maryland used to always have a raw soup--every time I would go and order it, the soup would be awesome. But then they changed management and they dropped that. At the Roots market in Olney, Maryland (which I prefer over WFM), they have a lot of raw products--I bought flax crackers and sprouted grain cracker/bread items (since I dont have a dehydrator).
