Does anyone know any cracker recipes that are flax-free? I find that flax overwhelms the flavor of crackers. I'd really appreciate it if you could share your recipes. Thanks!

Do you make crackers with mainly chia seeds? I do use chia seeds to replace flax seeds in recipes that call for a small quanitity of flax seeds (the spicey cheezits come to mind).

Thanks!

I'm dehydrating the hemp crusts as we speak. I'll let you guys know how they turn out.

Crawmommy,

What is your recipe for banana bread? I would love to make a good banana bread, but so far have not had luck.

Thanks!

Banana Bread Milkshake is the recipe that I used from goneraw.com I made this into a bread by using oats along with the nuts.
I didnt use cocoa powder. I like the taste, it's not overpowered by banana in my opinion. Let me know if u try it and how it comes out.

The hemp crust did not hold together. They just fell apart when I tried to flip them. Unfortunately, those are a "no go." Also, the taste of them is just so-so. I can see how it would work as a pizza crust where you didn't have to hold it in your hand, and it would be covered with other foods making it more flavorful. But it's not a good recipe for crackers.

OK, so about the chia or hemp seeds.........has anyone experienced bloating, nausea and excessive gas from them?

I made the flax crackers when I first went raw and I ate two and was so excited because they were so filling and tasted good.....but then I got SO nauseated, bloated and had nasty gas for two days so I gave them to our backyared squirrels because even looking at them made me sick.

Anyone, anyone about the chia or hemp seeds because I'd love to find a cracker that works for me.

The thing with Flax for me is when it sits in the dehydrator for too long. It gets this nasty taste. But it is ok when dehydrated by itself when it is spread super thin and dries out quick.

I think it's that time that is sits too long in the heat and it's still wet. It gets kinda rancid.

Anyways. My solution was to mix some ground flax (ground up in the Vita) with water until is like the consistancy of eggs. And after I have dried out the bread or crackers and it is starting to crumble. I "spackle" on the wet flax over the cracks. And make a thin layer over one side. Then flipping after it gets dried and put another thin layer of flax on the other side.

This way the flax dries quicker and isn't present throught the whole bread or cracker.

It has worked for us and we are glad to have bread, crackers and muffins again. And finally make use of all this flax I bought.

We use golden flax. My son thought it was cornbread. The taste does remind me of cornmeal. And to think I had almost given up on flax.

Hi, I bought brown and golden flaxseeds and they're still in the fridge unused. Do you mind posting the recipe with ingredients and steps for the crackers, bread and muffin. (I know that's a lot, but I'm a step-by-step learner.):o

I am trying to make everything I do very simple because I don't have much time.

Soak almonds. Then I made Almond Milk (Which I use later for my Curry Soup). Almond milk is just soaked almonds blended in the Vita Mix with water. One cup of Almonds and 3 cups of water. Then strain the milk out with a nut milk bag, or any cloth bag works. The pulp from the almond milk is the dough. Just stir in the rest of the ingredients.

I don't measure. Just taste the mixture when it's done. Should taste like bread dough...not a really strong flavor.

Tastes like Honey Wheat bread..but there is no wheat

Almond Pulp

Pinch of Salt

Around a table spoon of honey

squeeze of lemon

then dehydrate them until they are dry. They will be crumbly. Then take your flax Spackle (ground up flax in the Vita mixed with water) and spread it lightly on each side and return to the dehydrator. Careful because it thickens up so make sure you add alot more water than flax.

When they are done I butter up with coconut oil.

For the Blueberry muffins I add a bit more honey and added some chopped up figs and blueberries. Oh and scraped some vanilla off the bean into the mix. But the recipe is the same as the bread.

Hope this helps.

I had some avacado on my bread with a slice of tomato and cucumbers. Then sprinkled with seasalt and hemp seeds. I really missed sandwiches and this hit the spot.

If you don't have one, go to a paint store and get a bag that is used for straining paint. They are inexpensive, and work very well. Wash them out, dry them, and they are ready for reuse.
