Has anyone had any luck getting rid of this on a raw diet?

Thanks.

I got rid of mine simply by eliminating soy and cutting back severely on the goitrogenic foods.

No luck for me so far...maybe with time it will get better though...raw takes awhile to balance and heal the body

I did, when I went 100% a few years back. (I am not 100% anymore).

No, and in fact my thyroid has gotten worse! Not sure if there are other mitigating factors with my health though so I would not give up!

This is kind of interesting, my thyroid meds dosage went up right before I started eating raw foods & now (about 2 years later), my dosage has just recently been decreased. So, I'm hoping it will be decreased further in another 2 years.

Read my testimony below.
Incorporate lots of sea greens in your diet.
Green smoothies.
After 6 years of thyroid meds (up and down dosages) I am not totally off ALL meds.
Oh, also cured my 54 years of migraines AND dropped about 50+ pounds.

Aren't ypu supposed to avoid all things like spinach, kale, chard...things one would make a green smoothie with? I often wondered if I was sabotaging my healing since I chose to ignore that warning and continue to make my smoothies with the aforementioned greens...

I avoid nothing! If I want to eat it, I'm gonna. Who says to avoid it? The docs? Oh, THAT is comforting.

It's not confusing. It's very simple. Six years of up and down with those so-called meds that would "help" me and they didn't. 11 months 100% raw eating whatever I wanted "HEALED" me.

I eat sea greens every day too to get my iodine to kickstart my thyroid.

It works.

I dare any medical professional to question what I'm doing.

Let's see. 6 years on meds nothing. 11 MONTHS eating RAW = healed. You do the math!

Lucy, how much sea greens? I sprinkle some dulse powder in my green smoothies and have a raw nori wrap every day. Is that enough? I also take a multi with that has iodine from kelp (150mcg), though, which you probably don't...

btw, I did the iodine patch test on my skin and it still disappears in about 6 hours which means I still need more iodine? I don't want to overdo it...

Well, I don't necessarily believe what the docs say, but I was on thyroid meds for years, went off for 6mo, was raw with plenty of seaweed, GS's and the like, and my thyroid was retested(I was having some issues) and it was much WORSE! I am not giving up, though. I am on Armour Thyroid now and though it is not vegan, I feel it is a better choice for me until I can be off it completely. I am not trying to negate your experience, because I hope to someday be off all thyroid stuff as you are, but just sharing as every body is different.

I don't follow the 'avoid xyz foods if you are hypo' BS, I just wondered if you did. Thanks for the reply! :)

just a quick one on goitrogens: these are from the cruciferae family: broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, mustard, maca, radishes, wasabi etx. AVOID them!! the goitrogents are more or less inactivated by boiling, so consumption of these veggies raw: problems in hypothyroid states.

Increase: sea vegetables, kelp, algae.

I have a heaping tablespoon daily of dulse, kelp, and spirulina. I 'eat' some type of sea green daily - be it just chunking off bits of dry sea greens and chewing on them or sea veggie salads. I also have blue/green algae that I eat daily.

I can't answer if that is enough for you...sorry...

I just know what has worked for me (and others)...

Thanks! I appreciate knowing what you're eating :-) I am sure your body is getting plenty of good trace minerals with all of that variety, too.
