I overdid it in the garden moving my composter today. My back is screaming~! It seized up on me for awhile and so I lay on the grass and tried to stretch and relax it. Helped somewhat but now I'm so stiff and sore that I can hardly walk.
Any food or bath additive suggestions? I'm trying so hard to stay away from muscle relaxants and such but I have to stay mobile for my family!

Try a bath with epsom salts.
Also, sulfur is great for sore muscles. Many horse trainers feed their race horses MSM for sore muscles. MSM is natural sulfur, as found in rain water and raw plants. If you can't get MSM powder, then try eating lots of sulfur rich foods such as garlic, hot peppers, onions, radishes and mustard greens.
Also, do gentle excersize like walking. You need to keep the blood circulating to flush out the lactic acid that is built up in your back through excersize.

My back does that once in awhile. I just have to sleep it off. Pilates has helped a bit, but I'm ready to get a heavy-duty deep tissue massage to really get rid of the tension in my back. Even when the spasming is gone, I still feel like if I make one wrong move my back will get all crazy.

THanks for the replies. After a few days of taking it a little easy and a total of four Advil my back healed itself. I'm so sure that my nutritional stores were what was able to take care of it.
