Anyone have great raw treatments for chicken pox? I exposed my daughter last week so we should be expecting spots next week. I read that brown vinegar helps, but what is this? Would apple cider vinegar be a better (and more easily located) option? Also, what about coconut oil. I know it's great, so it couldn't hurt right? Any ideas?

I can't advise you on any treatment. Just don't let her Scratch, it will leave premanent scars. You can help this by putting Sock or Gloves on. How old is She? FYI...I do know you don't mix Asprin with C. P. Hope someone post the answer you are looking for.

When my kids had chicken pox they enjoyed having oatmeal baths, just oats in a warm (or whatever temperature feels best to them) bath. The soaking really helped. I wasn't prepared for them to be as sick as they were. I don't remember feeling sick w/ the chicken pox as a kid but my kids were VERY ill. Give her lots of love. It was absolutely heartbreaking for me to see them in so much pain. Best wishes.

They can run a fever and be pretty miserable. You can process oats in your VM till finely ground and then put them in a sock or the foot of pantyhose and throw it in the bathtub....if you want to keep them out of your drain/pipes. Works great~

Raene - how I wish I could expose mine! How do you find anyone anymore with chicken pox!!!? My mom got them as a young adult and almost went blind from one on her eye. Anyway, I know it is much better to get it over with.

My 22 month old has just showed up with the chicken pox. I wouldn't know what else it could be. It looks just like it. She had a few blisters on the side of her head. Then, last night I felt a blister in her scalp. Now this morning she has a bunch more on her face and scalp. I have only noticed a few here and there on the rest of her body. Most of it is concentrated on her head at this point.
So hang tight....here we go......two older children (6 & 4) who could join her since they have never had the chicken pox yet.
I wondered about feeling sick with them but my daughter so far has been running around like usual.....time will tell.

I live in a place where most people don't vaccinate. However, even with that being said, I've waited 2 years to find them! Someone at my daughter's preschool caught them and had about 50 kids over for a pox party. :) The younger the better, and my daughter's 4, so I'm glad to get them out of the way. I was 7 when I got them and they weren't bad but I gave them to my mom and she had shingles.

Rinda,
By the time we exposed my daughter, it was actually her playmate's younger sister who had them, who is 2. She was playing outside, running around, and having a blast, although completely covered with spots. She was naked running around which seemed to help so that clothes weren't aggravating the spots, but aside from occasional itching, she was a real trooper.
Crossing my fingers it will be the same for my daughter.
Also, have heard that kids who are exposed at a party or for a brief contact period don't have as awful a time with them as kids who are in contact for long periods with someone who has them (meaning siblings, or parents, etc). So the 2nd kid of yours to catch them will likely have a worser case, while the first should have a mild one. Always exceptions, of course.

Raene,
Well, by now I definitely know that my 22 mo daughter has the chicken pox. Thankfully she is doing great with them, probably about like that 2 year old that you talked about. Her face, scalp and diaper area are more concentrated with them at this point.
It was a surprise to me because I hadn't even heard of them going around....had no idea she was exposed.
I hope it will go smoothly with your daughter....hoping that she'll actually get them and sail through without discomfort. ;)
