Celery Question

When you grow your own celery at home, is it okay to eat the little white flower buds? Right now I'm just blending the stalks and leaves in my green smoothies - I remove the tiny flower buds. Is this necessary?

Believe the whole plant (including roots and flowers) are edible. ~ Cathy
