Hi all,

I am getting tired of just lemon juice on all my salads. Anyone have any good ideas for salad dressing? Can we even have olive oil? I just bought some raw cider vingear, but not sure what to do with it.

Thanks!

little of that olive oil, cider vinegar and lemon juice...some herbs, little sea salt, maybe some garlic and/or onion and you got yourself a nice lil dressing!

Here is a link to a few ideas...I'm sure you'll get others as well:

This one has a LOT of good ones: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=212&highlight=salad+dressing

One of my favorites...

(no measurements, sorry, I just do it to it!)

small handful of nuts or seeds (cashews or sesame seeds are what I use most often)
onion and garlic powder
sea salt to taste
a little sweetener (honey, dates, agave, whatever you use)
juice of half a lemon
water added a little at time to desired consistency
trying to remember if I add a little olive oil or not...I think sometimes I do, sometimes I don't

Blend well in blender until creamy!

Sometimes I also throw in some red bell pepper or half a tomato into the same dressing above.

My fav is an avocado dressing

1 Avocado
1-2 Tomatos
1/2 Lemon juiced
Sea Salt to taste
Mexican spice to taste (I use to use taco seasoning till I finally got some fresher spices) ;)
Sprinkle or two of Cumin

Blend well and pour on. YUMMY! :p

Somone posted a good dressing recipe with equal parts olive oil, agave nectar and braggs. I've used it as a marinade for veggies and it's great. Haven't tried it on a salad yet personally.

I've been making a tasty dill dressing with 1/4c cashews or pine nuts; 1/4c sunflower seeds; splash of ume plum vinegar or a sprinkle of salt; 1 clove garlic; ground pepper to taste; enough water to dilute to creamy dressing consistency and as much dill as you like. Soak the nuts and seeds then blend. I like to add the dill after blending. Favorite with a tomato cuke and greens salad.

Haven't tried it on a salad yet personally. That was me. But it was Nama Shoyu not Bragg's. I've since tweaked it to be less Nama Shoyu and I'll add some ginger and garlic to make an Asian taste. It's so easy with or without the seasonings.

And, to answer your question, JumpinJax, yes you can buy raw olive oil. Alissa discusses olive oil in her book (I know I sound like a broken record, but ya just gotta get it! It'll answer all your beginner questions!) You can order some great olive oil off her site (click in the top left square of this page just above her name). Beware of oil that's "cold pressed" which doesn't mean raw.
