3 Months raw and today I have THE worst case of excema on my scalp:(
Any reasons why this is occurring now?
Any home remedies, please?
It itches like crazy and is very flaky, too.
Thank you for your replies/concern.

Are you sure it's eczema and not something else?
Have you had instances of eczema on your skin or scalp prior to raw? If so, did you use medications (topical or internal) to treat it?
What types of hair care products (shampoos/conditioners, gels, sprays, etc.) do you use on your hair?

Umm, I think it's some form of Dermatatis, and I've had Excema before, and it cleared up with topical Hydrocortizone Creme. It was fine for about a year. Now, three months into raw, here it is again!!:( It's the worst case I've had so far.
I use Aubrey Organics exclusively. I use the Caluagula Shampoo for problem scalps, and the Henna Rinse and the Primrose styling spray mist for setting my hair in rollers.
Thanks so much!:D
Hey Betsy -- I don't know if this would help for you or not, but it has helped me with a similar issue. I have been doing the "no poo" for almost a year now, and I started to get some flakiness but didn't want to resort to the dandruff shampoos or whatever.
I read that others (instead of -- not in addition to) were using the following remedy to wash -- about a tablespoon of baking soda in a cup of water. Just pour it over your head in the shower. Then follow with a cup of water with about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar.
This removed the flakiness in one go.
Again, I don't know if it would help your problem. But it's cheap and easy enough to give it a try if you think it might help you. :)

Oh okay...well, the reason I asked if you had ever had it before and treated it is because it "could" be a retracing.
Oftentimes when we medicate and mask the symptoms, once we do something cleansing such as eating raw, those things may creep up again in order for the body to be able to heal itself properly.
So, if you ever applied the cortizone cream to your scalp, it's a high probability that it's retracing that you're going through. I don't know if you recall me ever mentioning how I used to get CHRONIC yeast infections and I always treated them with Monistat, etc. and then when I went raw, I ended up with a MAJOR yeast infection as my body was clearing from all of that including the meds I had previously used.
After that, I haven't had one since although if I end up eating something I ought not to, I can sometimes sense minute symptoms of it trying to pop up again. But as long as I'm raw, nothing!
You can try the remedy that Eva suggested and see if that helps! But I honestly think it's just one of those things you may have to endure for a bit until your body fully clears of this condition.
Perhaps you may want to lay off the Henna for a while until things get better too.

I'm gonna try the baking soda/vinegar route.
Retracing? That is like detox, just the same, isn't it?
Ummm, I was thinking that maybe I should also take some form of amino acids, too. And, more water.
I didn't mention that my skin is itchy all over, too. It's not all the time, just now and then I feel it itching.
Rawkinlocks, how did your yeast infection manifest itself? How did you tolerate/endure the waiting period between the time you started to have the retracing yeast infection until it went away?> That must have been miserable.
Thank you very much.
