Hey all.

My name is Clare and I'm new to this whole raw foods journey. I've been at 100% for 14 days now and I am feeling pretty great. I've been vegetarian for 10 months and vegan on and off since last October. I jumped on the raw foods bandwagon after reading about people being able to get off insulin using a raw food diet.

I've been at Type 1 (juvenile) diabetic for about 4 years now. I am insulin dependent and love to travel. These things dont mix too well. I am also an actress and dancer and have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I came to raw foods primarily for weight loss but after reading about people curing thier diabetes I was sold.

I am currently studying at Pacific Lutheran University persuing a BFA in Theatre with a triple minor in Dance, Philosophy and French. Acting and dance are truly my passion but being an overweight diabetic has really held me back in a lot of respects. I am looking forward to releasing all of my excess weight (baggage) and uncovering my true self through raw foods!

So here is to an exciting and wonerful journey! (aka the rest of my life!)

Starfire is right! Pick up Alissa's book and dvd's. They'll set you on the path to eating raw. SO much information.

Upcoming is a DVD on Diabete and what happened after 30 days of eating raw. You can see the 8 minute trailer here: http://RawkinRadio.com. Just scroll down a bit to the vid if it's not on your screen at first.

I know how you feel. I just started on insulin a couple of months ago and it's a royal pain. Daughter wants to go on vacation but I don't see how we can do it, except perhaps for a one day stay somewhere near because of the insulin. I'm type 2 and so far am using quite a lot of the Lantus due to insulin resistance. Also use Novolog after each meal. Saw the Dr. today and he is talking about adding Smylin. More shots. Woo! Think I'll change my name to pincushion.
