Hello,
I am new to the raw foods lifestlye (started around mid-january) and I am 3 months pregnant. Unfortunately, some of the smells are making really sick to my stomach. Especially GARLIC!! (which I use to love). This has made it very hard for me - so once or twice I have fallen back to cooked (comfort foods).
Any advise would be greatly appreciated. And another problem is I am so tired. I know that this will pass but I wish there was a way to just boost everything along....
Thanks
Danielle

hey danielle! congratulations!!!!!:)
yes, changes in food cravings and aversions are completely normal. try to sort out what you are craving and if you can, look for the raw option.
for example, craving the sour taste usually indicates a calcium/mineral deficiency - (hence the pickles and ice cream) - do you have alissa's book? there are so many great recipes out there that give raw versions of comfort food that are very satisfying.
what you need most is to pay attention to what is going on with your body and just stay in tune with that. if garlic turns you off, then stay away from it. garlic, while a potent antibiotic and a staple in some cultures, is used more medicinally in other cultures, so it wouldn't be consumed often at all in the latter. so just hang in there. fatigue is completely normal, too. your body is preparing for a wonderful new phase!
and at some point when you think you are losing brain cells because you are being so forgetful, just know that you will get those back after birth, too. :)
i was lucky enough to have a savvy midwife who made me protein shakes througout my labor so i could keep my strength up. (i had a home birth - and i heard this is not the way in hospitals, where you'd be hard pressed to find a nurse that will give you fresh juice!) try to find a birth team that supports what your vision is for you and your baby.
good luck!! we're here to support you!

I presume this is your first Child. Smells making you sick is Normal, its part of the 9 month, although I can't remember if it last that long. Things WILL get better. CONGRATULATIONS...........
