I've already started posting here but thought I should come back and let you guys know who I am.
I'm a 31 year old female from Texas and I'm a nursing student.
I have thought about the raw diet before and I used to be vegetarian but recently I've had some health issues that made me decide to go on into eating this way and change my life for the better.
I've been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I don't have health insurance and I can't afford nor am I ready to have surgery. I've been told by doctors that I should get a hysterectomy but I'm too young for that.
I recently read a story from a medical doctor who also had uterine fibroids and managed to shrink hers by eating a raw diet and that's what made me really start to research this idea.
After telling my doctors that I was going to try and treat my illness naturally, I was almost laughed at. They told me that it couldn't be done but I'm out to prove that it can be done. I will eventually have to have the surgery but not right now if I can help it.
I'm glad to be here and glad to be learning all about this stuff on this site and I really look forward to getting my health back where it needs to be.

I bet you will heal on raw foods it has helped me tremendously with my PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian syndrome)
Doctors will laugh but what is most important is what you believe to be true and that is all that matters. If you believe raw can help to heal your uterine fibroids I beleive it can.
Welcome to the board.
What a great attitude! You are lucky to have such a wide perspective -- it will help to make you a fantastic nurse. :)

Thank you everyone. It's nice to feel the support here. I will look into the mushrooms and I will read the book when I can. I haven't bought it yet but I did buy a few others
Raw food, the detox diet and
Raw food real world
I'm starting to read them now.
I'm also saving a little money for a dehydrator and a new blender because mine is awful lol.
I know that I really want to be a nurse and I want to be there to help people who are already sick and for those that really need medicine. I currently work in a pharmacy as a technician. I can tell you that what I see is truly sickening. I fill so many scripts in a day and most of them are for antibiotics, blood pressure and cholesterol. I see people freaking out that they can't get their blood pressure medication because it's out of stock or something like that. They think that they can go on about their regular lives if they just swallow a stupid pill. They may need the medicine right now but I don't see them doing anything to change their ways and I think it's down right lazy. If they took the time to research and change their lives then they wouldn't need the medication forever. I just had to vent. I'll write more about what goes on at work in the regular discussion section... you'll probably find it enlightening to say the least.
Thank you everyone for the support... once again, I'm so glad to be here.

Erika,
I was told at age 25 that I would never have children because of my uterine fibroids. I have never used birth control devices thinking I wasn't in danger of pregnancy, but to my amazement, I have 3 beautiful and healthy children. We practise homeopathy in my household, and there is barely any illness among my family.
My path to raw is a slow transition, but as I incorporate more rawness into my daily existence, I'm finding that my body feels sooooooo much better. I hope your journey is successful.
ps~I just turned 54 a week ago!!! Guess I proved that doctor wrong.
