Trader Joes...can I get Nama Shoyu there?

I'm going to go to a Trader Joes up in Chicago Wednesday. Can I buy the Nama Shoyu there? I wanted to check before I order it on-line.

I've not seen it there. Maybe Karyn's carries it? Our TJ's doesn't carry it nor does Whole Foods.

No, but you CAN buy it at Sherwyn's, which is not that far from Trader Joe's. Its near the intersection of Broadway, Clark, and Diversey.

Thanks, Bethany. We're actually going to be going to the TJ's that is by Brookfield. I think I may just have to order it. I wonder if Wild Oats has it. I know there is a Wild Oats where we get off on the expressway. Think I'll have to make a phone call.

I can understand Trader Joe's not carrying it because they will only carry products which they can off for less money (and put their brand on it ~ often) than anywhere else. What I cannot see is why Wild Oats and Whole Foods don't. I've requested it at "my" WF's and not received a response yet. They are carrying more and more raw yet, not all the "essentials" for preparation. Maybe we can all (who want it) start requesting it at the various stores ~ or write the Corporate office? Whatcha think?

Wild Oats does NOT carry it. In fact, I think they're a pitiful excuse for a health food store when it comes to raw. Or ... shall I speak frankly? ;)

You DON'T want that! I used to be diplomatic -- in another life, another career I was even paid to be so. It it's not apparent -- straightforward and plainspoken are what I appreciate now. So ... in case I hadn't made myself clear (;)) ... Wild Oats sucks!!

Thanks, Rawtruth. You saved me a phone call to Wild Oats. And it will save me from stopping.

I think I will have to order it. There is one store I haven't tried that is south of me in Lafayette...but, even if they have it I don't have any plans on going there in the next few weeks. It's the one thing I have yet to find. I did find Bragg's, but haven't used it after hearing all the negative things about it.

Here in Austin we can get Nama Shoyu at the main Whole Foods, but not at the other one. Perhaps that's due to the size of the building and space requirements, but it was disappointing.

I went to a WF's in Chicago (Arlington Heights?) and was very dissapointed in the support (complete lack of) they had at the store.

Mother's carries it for anyone who lives in Orange County, CA. That's where I get mine.

Yeah, they do.

But, I still prefer to give my business to Robin at The Living Temple -- to help keep small (raw) businesses alive.

Can't beat Mother's for the selection of ready-made raw foods, though.
