View Full Version : Solar Dehydrating

My dehydrator is packed away and lost in on of three storage units. I'm looking for alternatives.

My oven won't work, it either stays too cool or gets too hot, no in between. My rice cooker is 80-100 degrees, but tiny. Maybe good for nut burgers or raw yogurt, but I haven't tried it yet.

Putting things out in the sun seems risky. (bugs and bird droppings) Maybe sandwiched between two screens or in a box?

I read somewhere that you can use the dashboard of your car.

Anyone dehydrating without the appliance?

I personally think the car would heat up WAY too hot. You could always have a thermometer in there to check...
