and I lived to tell about it!!!! :p Ok so it was not as "green" as some of your smoothies but it was a real step of faith for me to try it.

It was not totally raw because I wanted to use up some canned pineapple I had in the fridge so I used three rings in the smoothie

I used two medium sized romaine lettuce leaves, a couple chunks of avacado, a chilled banana, the 3 rings of cheater pineapple, some water and ice, and a generous sprinkle of unsweetened coconut from the HFS (don't know if dried coconut counts as raw really but again it was on hand). This was really tasty and I bet it would be even better with fresh pineapple. The banana and avocado made it nice and creamy. This would have been awesome with coconut oil instead of dry coconut but I used the last of our coconut up last week.

I think I might actually do this again. I will slowly up the greenery level as I get used to it. :)

I had my second green smoothie for breakfast this morning. I upped the greenery to 3 romaine leaves. Baby steps :) It was very good and I find the greens add a very refreshing aspect. My dd tried it as well and she begged me to make more and bragged to her brothers about how good it was "even with lettuce in it".

I can grocery shop this weekend and I will be picking up some goodies for green smoothies!

Very cool update!!

If it's helpful -- I like to keep some frozen bananas around because they taste sweeter that way. :) Always good for the smoothie's texture for me.

I absolutely love green smoothies. I finally have a Vita-mix blender so I can make green smoothies and not green lumpies. I have about two quarts of green smoothie a day. My energy is much, much better thanks to green smoothies. I carry around my blender in my vehicle and make green smoothies for my housecleaning clients. I'm a green smoothie missionary.

OK That's funny -- and pretty cool. Do you bring a cooler around with you or what??

Yeah, I do carry a cooler around in my van. I stop by the store and buy makings for a green smoothies. I have a large supply of quart jars that I just loan to my clients, who have become my friends, many of whom are well into their eighties, and I'm so pleased that they are open-minded to this. This small handful of folks are only consuming two quarts of green smoothie a week, but, hey, that's something; it's a start. It's helped me to hone my speaking skills to promote this cause without being controversial too. I don't talk about giving up any food, as they already know that, but rather focus on what to incorporate into their diet: fresh, magical greens.

That is so cool.

Next thing we know, ghostly kisses will have four leaves in her GS, and soon she'll (he'll??) be a GS Missionary with a cooler and VitaMix in the car too!

LOL! So cool...
