I have not had good luck with grapefruits in green smoothies. Something about their bitter/sour flavor didn't pair well with my collards or spinach :-( But I love grapefruits so I am happy to eat them as is...
Oranges, however, I adore in all green smoothies

I love grapefruit, orange, pineapple and lemon together as juice so I wonder what some baby spinach would taste like with it. Im juice feasting right now so maybe I will try it tomorrow as a juice. I will let you know how it comes out.

yeah, I thought it was just me, but I too always enjoy them by themselves.

I have several that won't last if I eat one a day, so I thought I would use two or three as part of a quart of GS, since I don't feel like eating that many whole grapefruits..

JEN< lemmie know, if you try it...

any other recipes?:o

In the kitchen, I have kale, parsley, alfalfa sprouts, goji berries, fujis, bananas, limes, strawberries, oranges and blueberries.

Well, the juice is really good. Here is what I did:
over half of a pineapple (had to save some for my little one:D )
2 grapefruits
2 oranges
2 lemons
2 handfuls baby spinach

Delish!!! I do want to add that I juice my citrus with my breville citrus juicer then add it in. I dont like citrus thru my greenstar or in my blender, with the exception of lemons. The rind makes it bitter and citrus juicers keep the bitterness out. Best of luck to you!!

Agreed. I juice 1-2 grapefruits, 2-3 oranges, and a lime on my old fashioned citrus juicer. Then add whatever else I want in my GS to this liquid base. Very good. Not too sweet; not too tart.

Ok, i have the best best green smoothie recipe using pink grapefruit. it is Sarma's recipe from Pure Food and Wine, but I have been making it so long the measurements may not be exactly likes hers:

1 pink grapefruit, peeled (use your knife, much easier than peeling by hand)
1/2 to 1 cup pineapple
1/2 peeled cucumber
1-2 handfuls cilantro
dash of cinnamon
dash of vanilla
agave to taste ( i use about 1/2 tablespoon )
1 cup ice

blend in vita-mix..
i love this! it reminds me of a thai-based shake

enjoy..

I should say that Sarma posted her exact recipe on welikeitraw.com if you want to check the measurements.
