hey there... i'm chris and i'm new to this forum so i thought i'd introduce myself.

i'm also new to eating raw and am currently eating raw for breakfast and lunch only. i have read a fair bit about raw diet and am very excited about it, though i have a terrible time parting from my cooked food ways - hence my resistance to 100% raw at this time.

i have always struggled with my weight and right now i am at my heaviest ever. a recent outing to look for bridesmaid dresses (i'm in a wedding this august) kicked me into gear.

since then (2 weeks ago) i have had green smoothies for breakfast & lunch with the exception of last weekend (2 days). i feel great and have already lost 5lbs this way.

i found this forum hoping to surround myself with raw food enthusiasts as a way to support my recent change and to keep on track. every one else in my life follows a SAD diet and though they support my efforts towards health they look at me sideways when i have a green smoothie in hand or pass up having some bbq. i hear a lot of "oh come on... a little bit isn't going to hurt you" from my step dad and that was only after stopping to eat meat. i do not even mention raw to my family. even mom would not know what to do with that since cooking for her family has been a huge part of how she shows her love.

anyways... thanks for reading! i look forward to reading about all of you & your experiences. who knows... one day i may even become 100% raw.

cheers
chris :)

Welcome!!! I know what you mean about not telling people about your raw food adventure. I didn't tell people at first. Cooking food is so much a part of our social/emotional life. And a very pleasurable part. Sometimes people feel very threatened by the though of losing that. They will come around as they see you feeling great and losing weight! Take care of you and the rest will follow!

Welcome!!!!
You are definitely among friends, so save all your raw talk for this forum. :)
I live in a city where I can't find any friendly fellow raw enthusiasts :( , so I am on my own too (Rochester, NY) - mind you, it doesn't seem to deter me from talking about raw food anyway, but I often get everything from blank stares to sarcasm. whatever! I can only know I'm doing the best for me.
My family LOVES the food I prepare for me (I think if I tried to impose it I would get the opposite effect) and always eat it, but they still ask for non-raw stuff constantly, which I happily make - thinking the whole time --- now what yummy raw dish will I be making next for myself....? I'm just happy they actually try the raw stuff - and I never talk ingredients! My daughter would pass out if she knew her favorite raw chocolate cake frosting was made with avocados.:D
