I live in NYC and it gets awfully cold here in the winter. I usually crave warming/spicy foods when it gets cold, so I am worried about continuing the diet throughout the entire year. I tried starting raw foods back at the beginning of the new year, but that was a complete failure. I hope to pick up some momentum during the warm months and learn some tricks to hold myself throughtout the cold season.
Thanks for your help!

Hi there. Not only did I set out whatever produce I was going to eat for dinner early (set it out on the counter, about 1 hour before preparation) but, I also added some jalapeno's and cayenne pepper to my meals. That warmed it up a bit. Also, if I was particularly cold, I warmed up soup in a pot (used finger touch) and also, I was able to stick my plate filled with veggies and a sauce, directly into the dehydrator. This warmed it to room temp pretty quickly.
Hope this helps for next winter!

There's also a book called Warming Up to Living Foods by Elyse Markowitz that exactly addresses this issue.
Also, I suggest going 100% raw now (if you haven't already), and, by the time the weather cools, you'll be experienced enough to approach the season change with confidence and knowledge.
Best of luck -- it's an incredibly rewarding path you're starting on.

... add ginger to cayenne and jalapeno (not all at the same time though ~ probably).
