We juice over a dozen veggies and try to add new ones occasionally.
A couple of weeks ago I bought broccoli rabe at Whole Foods, but the next morning it was really smelly and the leaves were spoiled (like radish leaves get). I chalked it up to being older when I purchased, which I didn't think it was at the time.

This week I tried it again, carefully choosing the best bunch...same results. At 2.49 each, I went back the next day and they refunded my money.

Has anyone else experienced this ? Maybe it just has a very short shelf life.

Hey, a fellow broccoli rabe (or rappini) potential fan!

Yeah, at $2.99 here, it's a bit much to let it spoil. My purchases lasted at least 3-4 days, unlike yours. But, if you can, maybe they will split the bundle in half, for half the price, and use it the day you bring it home. It is a worthy addition to a juice menu.

I do like variety, but until the prices come down on the "specialty" greens, I'm sticking with Kale at .99 per pound. Can't beat it! I'll also check out the smaller collards, not the huge ones, because I've read somewhere the smaller ones are less bitter.

If I could grow my own, that's where I'd be. But it's way too hot for these crops here in south Florida, so I'm dependent on the grocery store.

Have you tried stuff like sweet potato, calabaza, other squashes like butternut? Also asparagus, fennel and those cute red radishes (with the greens if you can get them) make great juice additions.

I also add either lemon or lime and a small chunk of ginger to all my juice creations. Mmmmm-mmmmm good!

Have fun!
