Let's come together (as Deb suggested) and support each other.

I'm on Day 13 of a 92 day Juice Feast... I could sure use some support.

Anyone else juice feasting?

I'm having a hard time drinking all the green juices they suggest. I like spinach/celery/apple/cucumber - or celery/apple/cucumber - but the other greens are NOT making me happy (although i'm sure my insides are happy about it)...

Any combos that you really love?

I am crazy about my fruit juices:

watermelon with the rind
granny smith apples
pineapple with wheatgrass

they are all amazing... i can drink them like crazy... but those green juices are not working for me. hellllppp

Are MC fasters welcome too?? :)

I would create a thread for MC fasters as their daily intake is different than when you are Juice Feasting. :)

YIPEE! You made the thread!!!!:D

I'm on day 2 of my first juice feast....so far...good...I'm having trouble liking the green juice too....no matter how many apples I put in it...Oh, but whole lemon is good, fresh ginger too....the lemon with rind makes it much more palable for me.....

I love juicing watermelon! Makes so much juice! Do you put the rind thru the juicer too? I know I'm supposed to blend and strain it, but, well, with 3 kiddos and such, it seems easier to put thru the juicer...if okay.....hmmmmm....

I did buy an emema bag...and while everyone was quietly watching t.v., thought I would try to use it...but didn't...'fraid of being interrupted!!! I do feel kind of plugged up.....I also need to get over thinking it is....unnatural and all....

Glad you made the thread Aleesha!

C'mon Juice feasters!!! Deb

you already feel plugged up and it's only day 2? really? i'm still going and it's day 13 :P

anyway, yes i do juice my watermelon rind... i loooove it. i use my champion to make all my juices though... i can't be bothered using my vita-mix and then straining... a waste of time IMO.

at this point... i plan on doing a different feast than the one on david and katrina's site. i'm going more by what jeremy safron says in his book "dining from an empty bowl"

he suggests fruit juices in the morning and evening and a green juice in the afternoon. i'm doing more research before i make a final decision on this last part... i'm thinking of only drinking (for green juices)

celery/cucumber/apple
or
spinach/celery/cucumber/apple

since i like both of them. i spent some time in meditation and realized in the quiet of the moment... i wasn't having a hard time till i tried to up my greens... since then i'm not doing well.

so i'd rather feast longer than stop because of the green juices. make sense? sound healthy?

i saw in jeremy's book that you can fruit fast for 100 days - so why not fruit juice fast? (with the sodium from celery and also the cucumbers)

Hello fellow juice feasters! I'm just finishing up day 6. It's wonderful to know others are feasting at the same time. I look forward to walking this path with you...and I'm here for you!!!

This is my first feast. As of now, I plan to go the full 92 days and then transition consistantly into a high raw diet (I've been bouncing back and forth for a while). So far I'm having zero detox problems, which seems a bit bizarre to me. My theory is that my body is still in shock from all of the juicy nutrients it's getting-and no doubt plotting its next move. I have done the MC in the past and found it brutal (only made it until day 6 I think).

Aleesha, I've been following your blog. I've been your silent supporter for several days now. I'm always excited to see that you've made it through another day! You can do this! WE can do this together!

Oddly enough, it's the fruit juices that weren't working for me in the beginning. They seemed to to send my head spinning. So far I've been able to down the green juices well as long as I add some hot peppers to convince myself I'm eating "raw Mexican." Today was the first time I found myself starting to lose interest.

I've found some good recipes in a book called, "The Complete Book of Juicing" by Michael T. Murry, N.D. I've been modifiying them a bit (always adding celery and cucumber to mine). The books also states the nutritional information for each kind of fruit, each kind of vegetable and each recipe in whole, which I find helpful (calories, protein, vitamins, etc). Recipes are also listed according to veg. or fruit type (e.g. cucumber juice recipes ) or according to what they do well (e.g. "bowel regulater", "bone builder").

Anyway...good luck all!

Greeting Juicers!! I'm only on day 3, but so far, so good! Yesterday I enjoyed spinach, pineapple, carrot, and a tiny bit of fennel. This morning I had beet, carrot, celery, ginger, and orange. It tasted good for me.
Tonight I really needed something tasty and not sweet so I made tomato, alfalfa sprout, celery, daikon, cilantro juice. It was good and spicy! I will have pineapple, spinach, celery, and maybe some cucumber in the morning. I am not following the juice feasting guidelines as I don't have the time or the money to juice a gallon or more a day. I'd say I'm getting about 80 ounces a day so far. I'll try to up it if I start to feel hungry. Does anyone know about juicing bean sprouts? I have adzuki sprouts that are getting big. I doubt my daughter will eat them all and I hate to waste them. What do you think?
Thanks for the thread Aleesha!! You are my juice inspiration!

i just realized i have the book "juicing for life" i'll have to find it and give it a read in a moment.

you sure can juice sprouts!

i can't drink spicy juices. i tried yesterday... and almost threw up. it was horrid.

ellen, we should be finishing up a week apart. WE CAN DO THIS!!!
shash, yippee for three days... keep up the great juicing!

have you two tried granny smith apples with a dash of cinnamon? it's amazzzing.

off to do a papaya facial! (juice the papaya juice - yummers - and then rub the papaya skin on your face. let it dry and then do it again. let it sit for awhile and wash off.)

Hi again, I just read the other thread about setting a time frame. Ginger and Aleesha, I think it is a really good point about having a time goal to keep us going. I don't know why this is so hard for me. I've been just fine these 3 days, but as soon as I try to tell myself to choose a length of days i get all nervous and anxious. Since this is my first time I don't want to experience this as a "failure". So if I don't have a rigid time frame, I can't fail in my mind. Ahh well, it shall unfold.
I'm so glad I have you folks to learn from!

Aleesha Sattva
05-23-2008, 09:48 PM
it's your first one... take it day by day - i know my goal for my first fast was as long as i could possibly continue LOL

it's so important for you to listen to your own body, mind and spirit!

Aleesha,

Oooh. A papya mask! Excellent!

Shashibala,

I know what you mean about the cost of a buying enough juicy produce to make a gallon. Here in northern MN our growing season is short so produce costs a bit more to begin with. Greens are pretty cheap, but certain fruits and veggies are... I can see myself gravitating toward the fruits and veggies that give the most juice for the $$. That said, I have a friend in Alaska who told me he is struggling to eat anything RAW (let alone organic) due to the mad cost of produce there.

I'm going to the farmer's market this weekend but don't expect to find anything ready-except maybe some bedding plants... I've started some veggies in the garden, but they probably won't be ready for harvest until about 2 weeks after my juice feast ends. LOL!

Okay this is what I do. I've spoken to the owners of the veggie markets near me. I told them that I'm raw... and I'm juice feasting for 92 days. I told them all I need to take in and asked them if they have any "turning" veggies and fruit that can assist me.

Today I got 6 heads of butter lettuce for 25 cents a piece... 2 large bags of oranges for $1.50 a piece... and a huge bag of field cucumbers for FREE!

They may no assist you... but if you ask them, they just might!

So when you go to the farmers market or you local market... ASK!!!

I'm not yet doing any juice feasting, but I'm your biggest cheerleaders everyone. Go, go, go.

I too love reading Aleesha's posts and blog.

Ellen, Love your blog too.

I am just about ready to get out there and start talking on communication and how the words we use affects us. Having a blog would be a great way to develop an email list as well so when I am talking in the area people could know.

(OT: blog question: if you do it through wordpress, and don't have domain name yet, I assume I need a host. Right? Who do you all have?)

Greetings Juice Feasters!!!!

I just loooooovvvee this new thread! Such wonderful ideas for juices I haven'ty tried.....I'm going to try the tomato cilantro etc. mix........and Aleesha, wonderful idea of asking for things that are turning! I love it! I will try it too! {btw, thank you about the compliment, but I'm not always smiling LOL! now I'm concerned...yeah....I tried the enema thing and the tea...but not much success...nor did I like either...I've also tried the salt water flush, but barely got that down the hatch, and I wasn't too thrilled about it...maybe I just need to relax...but either I'm pretty clean {but not too sure about that} or seriously blocked....hmmmmm.....if it doesn't straighten out soon I think I'll look into colonics while doing this...anybody else have this problem???}

Shash....I am the same as you about the time frame thing...in my mind I plan on making it 20-30 days...but I'm going with 3 day increments. I love what I am feeling most of the time...I've lost water, feel less bloated, sleeping great...sometimes I get really hungry and it's a problem if I haven't made my juice yet and the kids need something etc. But I am trying to be prepared with my stock...and fruit juice in the morning and evening works good for me, with green in between. In the morning I make all the fruit juice and in the mid afternoon juice my greens....maybe someday we'll be more comfortable with setting a longer time frame...right now I think it is important to be comfortable with what is comfortable for YOU...;)

I have a Champion too....not great for the greens, but works, and certainly does great with fruit! I did a watermelon with rind today...LOVE it!

Make a juiceful day everyone! Deb

HI Everyone! This thread is fun! I had pineapple, spinach, cucumber this morning. I drank a whole quart. Then I let myself go too long without juice and got really hungry! I was out and got home at about 2:00 and made my next juice really fast! I had apple, celery, carrot, kale. Phew!! I gulped it down. Tonight I plan to have another tomato based juice. I bought a piece of what I hope is horseradish for the bloody mary effect! I also have added an oil blend. Flax, borage, primrose. I think I need a bit of oil. I'm trying to take a digestive enzyme when I remember to do so. I guess my mind could change, but for now I'm not concerned about the enema issue. I think the juice will do the trick. If elimination becomes a problem, I might consider that Oxy-powder cleanse. No enemas for me thanks.
Happy Juice day!!!

I am just starting today. I thought I'd check here on "raw food talk" for some support and any advice I could find.

How cool to find a recent thread on juice feasting!

My husband is not too sure about how to afford the drinking of a gallon of produce a day. So maybe I'll not do quite that much but, I do need to do this with hopes to clear up a certain area that has a growth. I really want this to work! We have 3 children and if we decide to have more I want to free and clear of this problem.

I am cheating a bit by adding some stevia in order to make the green juice more palatable.

I have the following available to juice:

Veggies:
Mixed Greens
Spinach
Kale
Parsley
Dandelion Greens
Radishes w/green tops (from our own garden)
Celery
Carrots

Fruits:
Apples
Oranges
Lemons

I should try to get more variety to keep it tasty and interesting.

Hola, fellow feasters!
This thread was just the inspiration I needed today. Thanks to all for your insightful posts! Kudos to all of you for loving yourselves enough to do this wonderful thing for your health and well-being!

Carolg,

No host for me (blogger). But yes, you do need a host with wordpress software, unless you're blogging on wordpress.com. (which is similar to blogger, in that it's a multi-user version of wordpress. Go to wordpress.org for more info on hosts.

Aleesha,

What a fabtastic idea! I will certainly ask next time-thanks! So glad you're feeling better today. Btw, I know you're taking MSM. Are you planning on taking any Flax/Hemp/Coconut Oils during your feast? I've picked up some flax seed oil, but I really don't feel like I need it yet. It seems to me that it may be more useful during the rebuilidng stages of a 92-day feast (days 45 to 50 and beyond). Any thoughts?

Anybody have thoughts on taking any dietary suppliments? I'm curious as to what other are doing/planning...

Shash,

The bloody Mary effect....I likey the way you think! I wonder how adding a splash of raw olive juice would taste...

Today's favorite juice for me was "Liver Mover". Beets w/tops and apples. Promotes the flow of bile and fat to and from the liver (according to my juice recipe book). It's supposed to be useful in promoting weight loss and in supporting the liver. Turns your tongue a pretty color, too:p

I am adding a tsp of hemp oil to my juices... I just started! :)

I have some coconut oil that I bought from Matt Monarch's site but honestly I can't stand the taste... tastes like bile *eeeeeewwwwwwwwww* so until I have the cash, I'll be using hemp only.

As for the cost of the feast... have your read Melissa's blog on how little it costs her to feast? She does it on less than $10 a day!!!

http://rawmom.blogspot.com/

Today I picked up a HUGE pineapple... juiced that puppy adding in a tsp of spirulina (my new addition) and wheatgrass juice... so yummers... you have to try it.

I hear parsley and apple is an amazing mix... I'm hoping to do that one tomorrow. Remember your herbs are like eating 2 greens! They are THAT good for ya! So don't forget to add them to your juices.

I love this thread... just what I needed. Thanks to Deb for suggesting it!

Day four...Just to add.... I had so much energy today that i almost injured myself! I dug a large garden area and emptied 2 years worth of beautiful compost from my big compost "cage" and then wheeled it all over to the garden and spread it. I have been avoiding the compost task all spring because I thought it was too hard for me.

Good Mornin' my Juice friends!

I am beginning to understand why juicing is Spiritual as well...I love the relaxing sleep at night {other than being woken by my 2 year old...we co-sleep and are working on the not nursing at night thing....}...I feel so grounded...calm......and interestingly, this seems easier than when I first tried 30 days Raw.....maybe it's the not having to stress about what to eat and all the prep for certain yummy foods.....? I've been exploring Raw for almost 2 years now and bouncing back and forth between Raw and mainly cooked Vegan...with some dairy now and again.....But, I am looking to jump start back into 100% Raw doing this, as well as for the health and weight loss benefits. I've been tempted to break fast now and again, but tell myself that my 20 day goal is really short in the long run. I am taking it a few days at a time. Today is day 4, and somehow making it to day 5 will be a milestone...

Just drank a quart of watermelon juice and rind [my favorite] that I had left from last night...and am getting ready to make my stash for the day: another whole watermelon, orange and honeydew melon, spinach.. celelry,..romaine...lemon...and some apples....maybe some parsely.

It amazes me how my counterful and fridge of produce and fruit has dissapeared so quickly....and is all in my body [and hasn't left yet! Ha!}].....and is noursishing all my cells!.......I haven't felt the energy surge that folks talk about...just mellow...calm...clear......

Make a wonderful Juiceful Day!
warmly, Deb

yippppeeeeee for pooping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so you are nursing AND juice feasting? that's certainly not a choice i would make for myself or my child... have you done a ton of research on this?

have you considered doing a "modified juice feast"? that's where you juice two meals and eat one simple raw meal? it would be less cleansing and release less toxins into your milk.

if it were me (which it isn't) i would choose to do a modified green smoothie feast instead for 14 days. (two green smoothies and a raw meal) that way minimal toxins would be released. but ultimately it IS your choice... and your little one's...

i nursed my kids till they weaned by choice. years each in fact (four and a half being the longest) and co-slept... so i understand the night waking!

my dreams are weird right now. really weird. last night i was trying on dresses and bras... in a very fancy store and when i had to pee...i just peed on the floor... ??? what the heck?

the night before i made juices all night long. hundreds of them.

i've been having 'juicing' dreams for about a week.

well, today is day 15... the start of a new week of juicing for me since i began on mother's day (sunday). i'm ready willing and able to do this with minimal grouchiness and maximum ease!

Hi everyone! I worked so hard yesterday that I actually slept til 9:00 this morning. Aleesha, my dreams are also changing on this fast. Last night I had the Craziest dream!!! I was at some kind of lodge or inn out in the country. It was kind of rustic, a runown. There was a restaurant and it seemed to be closing time. Somebody said "hey there's a snake under this bench." I, who likes snakes, took a look. It was a common black rat snake and I said just give it space and it will go back outside. Thennn.... The snake spotted ME!!!! It grew to be about 15 feet ling and clearly tuned into a poisonous cobra. It wanted me. Nobody else, just me! It chased me around that place for hours. I found a machete and was prepared to lop its head off if it got close to me. After what seemed like hours of running and hiding and climbing in and out of small places, the snake seemed to die. It just went limp on the floor. Some strangers gathered around it and I overheard them say that this was a fake snake that had been programmed by some bad men to pursue ME. Someone wanted to scare me into leaving or giving up on something. I didn't know what it could be. Still not quite sure. No wonder I slept in, I didn't get any rest last night!!
Yikes!!! What am I doing that i fear retaliation for? Maybe I'm not doing it yet, but need to start building my courage for a project that will be challenged by others?? Who do I think is out to get me? Is it my past chasing me around? I need to ponder. I will do so while planting my garden.
Have a beautiful day!!!

I too am nursing an almost 2 year old (22 months). I figured a juice feast should be okay since she doesn't actually have to be dependant on me for her food, even though it's her place of cuddling and comfort. She doesn't want to do without it yet.

I've been doing more green juices than fruit juices even though I, of course, don't prefer them over the other. However, my husband just mentioned to me tonight that fruits are the cleanser and greens are the healers.

What direction do you take for juicing? More greens, fruits, or about half and half?

before i post on anything i just want to mention:

regardless of how long your little ones are nursing they ARE nursing. and if you are simply pumping toxins into them... even for a short period of time... to me that's not putting their needs first, which i think every nursing mom needs to do.

i really like your idea of slowing down your juice feast till he discontinues nursing altogether. adding in the pulp makes it a smoothie and that's so much less cleansing. :D but i would like to see you adding in some raw foods as well. we don't want to make your little one sick from your 30 (or however old you are) years of toxins.

okay now i'm off to read the other posts...

i guess i covered this in the post above... as someone who's nursed three myself... it doesn't matter that they are eating... they are still taking in your milk, as just as our juices assimilate completely into our bodies... your milk is doing the same... and i know you don't want to gift her a belly full of toxins

What does your feast look like? that is, what day and how long do you plan to go? Deb

Only on day 2. Hopefully will go for 30 days and then make the decision to go further or not.

Today I did mostly greens: Dandelion, radish greens, kale, parsley, celery, carrots, romaine.

Then, I had some orange juice a couple of times. Not a whole lot of fruit to juice in the house. Need to stock up on some pineapples, grapefruits, tomatoes and other juicy fruits.

I will take your opinion into consideration. I will talk it over with my husband and see what he thinks. I have done a lot of intestinal cleansing in the past and have remained on the intestinal cleanser up to the point of starting this juice feast. So, as far as being loaded with toxins like the average person would be...I don't know.

I definitely don't want to be pumping toxins into my child so, off to my husband I go, to talk it over with him. (He's a Certified Natural Health Professional).

I would like to have more greens than fruits, but though I do some greens every time, they just don't supply the volume of juice that I need to feel satisfied. I am now using pineapple, apples, carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes for the bulk of the juice with greens along with them. I can't wait for more greens to be in season here. It should be soon! I've got lots in the garden, but they're just babies.

Thanks for your concern! I appreciate it!

you've been doing intestinal cleansing while you are nursing as well? http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x87/recyclinggoddess/thththud11.gif

if you've been doing cleansing you have been pumping toxins into your child. sorry but i have to say it... you have. i'm very surprised that your hubby... as a certified natural health professional would have you do that when you are nursing.

Hello juicy feasters! I hope you have all had a wonderful walk on your journey today!

Welcome to the group, Rinda! So glad you could join us!

Deberaw: January? Me, too! I'm a happy cappy who turned 39 on the 8th. Your beautiful smiling face is an inspiration!

Aleesha: Gasp! I was down 11 lbs this morning! I nearly keeled over! Not 11 lbs of fat mind you, but hey, my body so appreciates not carrying around that extra weight no matter what it's composed of.

So today was interesting. I picked up a pH test kit to test my urine and saliva. My mom has stage lV cervical cancer that I'm convinced results from (among other things) the acid state of her body. Ever since researching her cancer, I've been concerned about my own body's pH. (I've talked with her (gently) about what she thinks about the possibility of healing through juicing and raw foods, but she isn't open to changing her diet).

Anyway, one of the zillions of reasons I wanted to do this feast was to correct my own pH problems. I'm happy to report that both my urine and saliva were in the neutral to slightly alkaline state. This is highly variable depending on what you eat throughout the day, etc., but at least I know I can get my body into a healing state and keep it there with healthy foods

Bok Choi today! Super juicy-lots of water content plus bonus greens. Mild flavor. Highly recommend...

The "spicy" juice tastes a bit yucky today. I'm feeling great, but I started psyching myself out thinking about 92 days of nothing but juice and before you know it, I was freaking myself out. One day at a time, Ellen. One day at a time...

Nothing to add about the breast feeding (kittys here, not kiddies), but I'm enjoying the dialogue. Very interesting...these are things that women like me don't ever think about and I so admire all of you trying to sort it out. You guys are amazing! Don't envy, but truely do admire!

Ahem. Need to go poo soon. Nothing is moving. I started cascara sagarda today and had a psyllium/bentonite shake. Don't know how long I should expect to wait until things get rolling...anyone else having issues?

Have a juicy night!

Hi EBCL! You sound great! 11 pounds! Wonderful! What day are you on again?
Yes, one day at a time....manageable goals...like making it 3-5 days..one week...just for today...again tomorrow etc....that kind of thing works best for me.......yes, I've had the pooping issue...I've blabbered about it the past few days....for me, I'm hoping that modifying my feast will not only be better for my son, but also for my elimination......I do believe I read on the Juicefeasters site that enemas are part of the regime, I think {but not sure} along with a lax.tea....and if enemas can't be done, then lax tea a.m. and p.m. ....now I can see why!......sweet dreams! warmly, Deb

ellen is just finishing up on day 8 i believe... nice weight release for that amount of time. mine has slowed and stopped... which is fine. i'd prefer to release slowly anyway... that way it won't decide it misses me too much and come back for a visit LOL

i hear ya on the big babies girlfriend... my last one was *gulp* 11 lbs 5 oz. ya you read that right... no typo. i was diabetic and didn't know it. she's a little amazon warrior princess... always has been. way taller than any other kids her age... 24" at birth mind you so it's not like she was short LOL 2nd largest baby in that hospital... largest girl :P

as for enemas. my raw coach (melissa gilbert) who's done a lot of fasts and feasts (she fasted more days than she ate last year and again this year) never does an enema before day 50! she allows her body to do things on it's own first. this time, she's going to let her body be totally natural and see how it does.

so although we 'think' we need to poop daily... we really don't. think about it... it's not like we are eating 3 meals a day right now LOL

i've had two large BMs since i started this feast and i feel great. when i get the feeling i have to go... i usually do within about 48 hours. no struggle really although sometimes i do read a book while i wait LOL (oh i don't sit on the toilet for 48 hours LOL i just read that back... *giggling* how funny would that be... *snort*)

so i'm very stretched from a big baby as well but i'm hoping the MSM i take daily will assist the skin to stretch back??? well, i can hope can't i? i hear other obese people have had their skin go back to normal eating raw and releasing weight so why not us?

Deb & Aleesha,

Thanks for sending good vibes my mom's way. She can use all of the love and light she can get right now (*hugs to you both*). Deb. So sorry to hear about your Mom. Glad you got tested. Nice to know your risk isn't above average. In our case, so much loss experienced over the past couple of years is a MAJOR reason that we (me and my hubby) are cleaning up our acts (I'm the Guinea pig. If all goes well with me--hubby jumps in, too :p ) At least making these changes empowers us!

Aleesha,

As for the Bok choi, I just threw it in with my "everything but the kitchen sink" green mix. I tasted some on its own...that's why I say it seemed mild in flavor to me. Bok choi is also high in water content. My juicer isn't super efficient, so it seems to take quite a lot of produce for me to get the volume of greens I need. That's why I pretty much open the fridge, and if it's green, it goes in! Still, the pulp it produces is minimal and seems really dry to me (my compost pile loves it :) I do dilute my fruit juices (sans melon) with a bit of water, but my greens I drink straight. I'm not doing the blender/milk nut bag method (ordeal). My blender is and el cheapo with blades as dull as butter knives. I read a post you answered where you gave someone a juice recipe. I can't recall exactly, but you said it made like 50 ounces. I was amazed! All that juice from only the few ingredients you listed. Zowie!

...No worries about the poo. I'm not opposed to enemas....I do use them. I've just been holding out for the past few days to see what my body will do on its own. I'm on some low dose HRT (due to early menopause at age 30) which is notorious for slowing down the flow of things...Normally (when not feasting) I eat vast amounts of fiber (love those Ezekiel 4:9 tortillas) so I'm super duper regular. This just feels odd to me 'cause normally things move out more quickly than this...(whooosh!)

Deb...sounds like you've earned those grays to me!!!! Embrace! Embrace!

Great to read all of your posts feasters!

My husband said it's absolutely not recommened to start any kind of detox when pregnant or nursing. But what I have been doing with the intestinal cleanser has been just a maintenance thing to keep the bowels cleaned out.......rather than colonics.....it's working from the inside out, not outside in.

I started my aim at cleaning house about 9 years ago. Then, off and on since. So, he doesn't see any problem with me doing the juice feast since he knows me and what type of cleansing I've gone through in the past. Now if I had not done cleaning the previous 9 years, then it would be a NO.

It makes me think, though, about these women who care nothing about what they put in their bodies and they are pregnant or nursing. At least I'm putting live juices in instead.

I do feel really good today! clearer and more energy...maybe it's the modified juice feast?! LOL! I look forward to picking up more fruits and produce today...I have a craving for pineapple, oranges, will get more melons and strawberries! Need to get some greens too!

So good to read all of your posts as we are moving along on our journeys together (((hugs)))

Aleesha! WOW 11 lbs! amazing...! I don't know a lot about MSM but know it's recommended to break up scar tissue and decrease inflammation...? You know folks who have wayyyyyy stretched skin go back to normal from Raw???? Like really normal?? Flat and all? I know my stretch marks won't go away...but I'd love the sag to go! It's disproportionate to the rest of me...I even get asked now and again if I'm expecting! My docs. say only plastic surgery will help...but it is sooooo encouraging to hear that from you!

Ellen! What are doing up so late at night posting? LOL! Oh wait, where are you? Time change could explain!:D....I'm with you on the not going poo so often feeling strange....I'm usually pretty regular too...but as Aleesha said...not like we're eating 3 meals a day! hee-hee!

Rinda: Thank you for sharing what you hubby said......yeah, if I was just new to Raw and had a strong history of SAD ...then I for sure wouldn't be doing this now either....I'm Blessed with growing up overseas in Brasil...most of our food was fresh and minimal to no additives etc....

Rinda,

I hear ya... if you've been living clean and healthy for 9 years then a juice feast or more cleansing wouldn't have the same effects. It's important though... for us to make that clear as it is not okay for the average SAD eater to come here and start fasting/feasting while she is feeding another human.

deb,

glad your modified juice feast is working for you already.

shash,

clink clink! woke up drinking my usual 40 oz of water and fresh squeezed orange juice with 1T of MSM - then i finished off my watermelon/strawberry DREAM juice from last night. oh man it was goooooood.

then i made a celery/fennel/cucumber/apple (pink lady apples... these are absolutely divine!) for after yoga. i have a reiki client coming right away so i need to have it ready to drink... won't have much time to get ready for her.

i'm feeling great this morning. i'm still having a very hard time in the evenings (4pm and on) but i've contact david and katrina to ask them some questions... to get an idea of how to move through this. i'll keep you all posted.

oh and my tummy looks so nice this morning. i've officially lost my boobs. they left in the last couple of days. but that's okay cause i look better with only a little on top. so i'm cool with this. but i look better in my yoga gear than i ever have!!!

so.......... let's JUICE!!!

edited to add: just had a nice easy BM - no enemas, colonics or herbal assistants... just my body doing what it's meant to do. ;) i am loving this process of trusting my body!!!

Good morning feasters!

Rainy here again today...and frost warnings (eek!)

Deb,
I'm in northern MN. My husband and I work nights so a 2-3 am bedtime is the norm around here.

Shash,
Thanks for the input about my mom. She thinks she eats pretty healthy already because she doesn't eat much, but IMO, she and my dad just eat small portions of really bad food. She will not give up coffee in the morning, and she will not give up having her little small bowl of ice cream before she goes to bed. Acid, acid, acid. She does eat fruit for breakfast, but she also eats out a lot. Says she doesn't have the "discipline" to change her diet, and likes to use my dad as an excuse for her inability to change  She isn't overweight. The chemo pretty much took care of that.

I found her choices difficult to deal with at first. Now, it just is what it is. She has very old-fashioned ideas about how all of this is going to play out. People get cancer. They take chemo and radiation. They don't EVER question their doctors (especially in her small town clinic). And if the chemo doesn’t work it just wasn't meant to be. All I can do is respect her choices and try to "plant seeds" whenever possible. If she feels like her choices are being questioned at all, she just shuts down and stops communicating. I would rather keep lines of communication open at this point. I'm hoping I can lead by example...so I'll keep trying. I've gone to most of her appointments with her, and I will say that I found it weird that her doctor never once brought up nutrition to her (and he's my age). She received a bunch of handouts on what to eat, but there was never any real discussion. Duh? Anyway...no more rambling on...back to the topic at hand...:) Getting juicy!!!
---------------------

Still no poop here (funny talking about BM, isn't it?) I am optimistic for today, though!

Going to switch it up and do fruit juice first today. I like the info that the fruit juice is cleansing and the green juice is healing. Seems logical. I fear I'm going to OD on the green juice anyway. This is a marathon, so I'm going to have to keep mixing it up to keep my head in the game.

Lots of work to do...
Will be checking back later...

Have a wonderful day everyone!

I agree... keep those lines of communication open! It's her life (and death) and so it's her decision... just as your choice to eat raw is your choice. I know you know this... just had to say it out loud for myself :)

have you all been doing pineapple juice? it's honestly so amazing wonderful! i add in some wheatgrass juice (as i juiced a bunch and froze it into ice cubes for my juices) and some spirulina but that stuff is hard to get mixed. so today i thought... hey i'll use the vita-mix! well that worked perfect.

i tossed the spirulina in first... then filled up the vita-mix with pineapple juice and turned it on. it was so frothy and yummy. give it a try!

i choose to do one green juice a day and two fruit. so adding in the wheatgrass or spirulina gets my 'green intake' up while still giving me the all the fruit juices my body is craving. i'm not following the juicefeasting.com guidelines at all but i do use their info and integrate some into my daily regime.

ellen... i can feel that BM a coming.... go for it *giggling about cheering for someone to have a BM*

eve just suggested this to me... thought i'd share it with you all:

Have you had sweet potato/apple/cinnamon? It's really very good, and even a little will make you feel like you've just had a piece of apple pie. Or try tomato/basil/garlic, with a little sea salt and cold-pressed oil thrown in. That's like a very rich soup. I would also suggest mixing up your greens as much as possible, just in case some of your cravings are actually based on missing nutrients.

Aleesha: How wonderful to feel and look so good in your yoga clothes! What a great feeling! and I just so respect how you let nature take it's course about the poos.....makes me so much more relaxed about the issue....I struggle too in the evening, but as long as I keep drinking....that seems to help out....mainly it's the week that I have a hard time then....kids home from school...feeding them etc.....but for me, drinking my juices and staying full helps...even drinking more water......

I still feel so great today....my skin looks clearer, my clothes fit better....I'm lovin' it...still amazed at how this easier for me than 30 days Raw...I think it is because I got so bloated then...food combo problems...and kept thinking about what to eat....etc..

I am about to make tomato/basil/garlic.....love the idea....

I had a green today...left from yesterday....and a wonderful carrot/apple, as well as watermelon earlier.....OHHHHH my Body is thanking me! I can feel it!

I am excited to try the yam/cinnamon/apple too {yams are the same as sweet potato aren't they?!}

This thread rawks!!! I am getting some basil tomorrow, and a watermelon, too.
I'm working on a wheat grass set-up. I cleared a space on my back porch
today.
I also love pineapple with all greens. Pineapple makes everything yummy! I am not able to get organic pineapple, watermelon, or cucumbers!!!
Everything else I have is organic. I would prefer it all organic, but I've decided not to worry about it. Those three things seem essential to my success right now, so I'll use what I can get.
I have been having a savory tomato based juice in the evenings. I thought maybe it was cheating since most of the tomatoes go through to the juice. Is it too much pulp? I just love it so and it is so satisfying.

Greeting Juicers!! I'm only on day 3, but so far, so good! Does anyone know about juicing bean sprouts?

Shash-My one experience with juicing sprouts involved sprouted red beans, and alfalfa/mung bean sprouts. I sprouted a full 16 oz, although the taste was dispicable, if I think something is healthy, I will eat/drink it, no matter the flavor-atleast once. After I downed that cup of pure "sprout juice", i ran straight to to the bathroom with stomache cramps and threw it all up. After researching a bit now, sprout juice is good in moderation added to a vegi based juice. Also, I read that certain sprouts were toxic if juiced. I cant rememeber what kind now, sorry. Maybe it was the red beans hence me throwing up. I was pregnant also, so that may have affected my reaction.
Any way, there is my experience with sprout juice. :)

Good evening (or, early morning) my juicy feasters!

First off, Aleesha: Look'in good girl! Love it! I've always wanted to be blonde. You might say I'm working my way toward "salty blonde" with the gobs of grays I have coming in. ;)

 Question: Is anyone planning a parasite cleanse while feasting? I'm thinking about starting one around day 50 or so. Just wondering what folks are others are scheming...

OMG! I made the worst green juice today. I choked it all down, but it wasn't pretty. Seriously. I'm talking nasty:eek: It wasn't the greens, it was the lack of apples and carrots, and the addition of too much lemon. Horrid!!! Absolutely horrid!

Thankfully, today's fruit juice was good. Not heaven in a glass mind you, but decent. I made yellow watermelon, Tulane cherries (good but pain to pit before juicing) and gogi berries. Pretty much super sonic in terms of nutrients. Going to do the watermelon/strawberry juice later this week. Grapes and pears are up tomorrow.

BTW: I love cantaloupe/strawberry (!!!) and pineapple/strawberry. The tomato basil posted today sounds awesome, but probably too pulpy for me right now. Oh, and you must try pineapple/blackberry! Yum.....Crazy good!

((drum roll...))
I'm happy to say I pooped today. Whoopee!!!! It wasn't a poop so much as a pooplet. Or, rather a series of pooplets. Not going to win any awards (if such awards existed). But progress, my feaster friends, progress!

Oh, and I have acne! A giant zit on my chin! Yipeee! I've been taking daily saunas and doing a lot of dry skin brushing. I think my skin is finally starting to purge some ickys. I don't normally have acne, so this is a pretty big deal to me.

Sneezing and a bit of gunk in my throat today, but it literally only lasted for 5 minutes. I'm almost certain the mental aspects of this journey are going to be the toughest for me.

I'm not having any dream recall all of a sudden. That's weird for me, as I've been doing dream work for years and it's not uncommon for me to recall and write down 3-4 dreams in one night. I'm also a lucid dreamer. I had some very wacky dreams the first few days, but for the past few nights, nothing.

The last dream I remember (on day 6) went something like this:
Ellen opens mailbox to check mail. Surprise! The mail is Chicken Nachos!

Ellen opens a Christmas present from her mother. Surprise! The present is frosted sugar cookies!

Ellen opens the silverware drawer in the kitchen. Surprise! The silverware is beef jerky!

Ellen opens the trunk for her car to get spare tire. Yep! Surprise! Spare tire is a giant bundt cake!

It was more like a nightmare. :p I don't even eat that stuff! (Used to like chicken nachos, though) Oh, well. At least I'm sleeping great and waking up feeling rested.

Hope you all have a juicy Tuesday! ((Hugs everyone))

Ellen

Great Mornin' Juice Feasters!

Aleesha! I love your hair and your radiant smiling face on your avatar! You look super! and look how much thinner your face is...I think I saw your photo on your blog....huge difference girl!!!!!!

Ellen and Shashibala...you both sound great with wonderful energy! Hooray! Congrats on the pooplets Ellen!....I dunno...I'm re-thinking the whole poo thing....read your thread Aleesha, on the 'to enema or not...' lots of feedback to ponder....I'm not having much success....interesting that I've lost weight, but not from poo leaving me...water for sure!.....anyways...I'm thinking about it again....if I try an enema again...I'm going for the easy bottle thing...not the bag thing.....or maybe a cleanser....hmmmmmm.......

On the docket for today: watermelon/strawberry, pineapple/kale/romaine/celelry/.........and I'm not sure what else...maybe carrot/apple again...............I'm out of tomatoes.....will go to the store again in a few days!!!

I'm still amazed at how good I feel.....wild dreams again last night, but I don't remember them.....it's empowering for me to be past day 5......

Make a Juicyful day!!! Deb:D

Good morning feasters!!! My dreams are crazy... completely crazy. Last night in my dream my hubby told a woman off - who is annoying me IRL - I woke up thinking... oh great, now I have to deal with all this crap cause he's pulled it out of the closet. hmmmmm makes you think eh?

My tummy was very sad with me last night... all last night. Pigging out on that tomato combo was a bad idea. Moderation Aleesha... moderation! I told my hubby... no more than 3 tomatoes in the house at a time. LOL

Hubby loves my hair so that makes me happy. My son isn't crazy about it, he likes it with the darker shades in as well... but my hairdresser has stopped doing hair so what's a girl to do? Do it herself as inexpensively as possible - that's what LOL

Parasite cleanse: I'm actually using juices to do that. In Jeremy Safron's book "Dining from an Empty Bowl" he suggests adding ginger to your juices to remove parasites. I've also used garlic in past juice feasts to do that same. Either or will do the trick! Garlic is added to this tomato combo and ginger is recommended (in Jeremy's book) in this combo: apple/celery/ginger 4 parts apple - 4 parts celery - 1 part ginger.

I see a difference in your cheeks! You look wonderful!
I have discovered that I can get a medium brown hair color with a combo of henna and indigo powder. It's a very earthy experience. Like applying mud to to your head. I love it and it covers gray well.

...my tummy wasn't all that happy either last night...lots of rumbling and gurgling noises....{thought it meant I was going to poop...sigh:rolleyes: }...I just checked the JuiceFeasters grocery list {from their site}...Tomatoes are not on there! Must be a reason!...but yams are...and....

The yam {sweet potato?}, apple, cinnamon combo is.........just as reported! nice and yummy! It is chilly and cloudy here and when my youngest takes a nap, I'm looking forward to savoring it! A keeper it is!!! I used: 1 large sweet potato, 2 apples, dash of cinnamon...made a huge glass!!!
I made all my juices for the day plus extra for kids and hubby....I put too much kale in the green....and almost added another pineapple...but want to save that for tomorrow....so down the hatch it goes!!!

My hair is auburn and starting to gray....henna would be good when I'm ready to dye....yes?

Okay...off to drink lunch!!!! Deb

Hello Juice feasters!!!!
I'm not juice feasting, but I thought I'd just pop in to say HI!!!! And also, YAYY!!!! you are all doing so wonderfully.

Also, I'd like to share a unique but tasty combo of juice I had for breakfast yesterday. 2 green apples, 10 carrots, and a big bunch of oregano . I had the oregano growing in my garden and I'd thought I'd try it in a juice, as I'm always looking for more ways to get my greens and herbs in. Anyway, it was delicious.

I really look forward to hearing more about all of your awesome amazing progress!!! You all are doing great!!!

Deb - have you considered massaging your mid-section with some essential oil to help move things along? Even if it doesn't work for you, at least it feels nice.

Hey everyone I'd like to join.

I'm not really doing a feast per say becase I think it would be a little expensive for me at the moment, but I will do a fast with a little extra juice.

I am trying to start today but sometimes I have a hard time getting on the horse so hopefully it'll work;)

Anyways I just had a nice glass of water with lemon juice, and in a bit I am gonna go out and buy some juicing produce since I got paid today. yay.

Hope you all are doing well, ttyl.

i am doing GREAT today!!! first of all i went to buy some shorts - cause as you all know... i have no clothes. not just no clothes... really no clothes LOL and it's hot here.

so... guess what size i got? size 12! size 12! yup... size 12!!! i'm in shock!!! the tops i got... size MEDIUM... so obviously costco has smaller sizes since i needed large there :P these medium are not tight either. i'm so pleased!

anyway, just made the tomato combo with fresh garlic and fresh basil... very very VERY nice indeed. i really enjoyed it a lot. i'm keeping notes and making all those other juices as well ladies... i loooove inspiration! amazing how you get into a rut eh?

welcome firicia! down the hatch girl!

deb, henna will be gorgeous on your hair!

rawstrenth, great suggestions. both the juice and the massage. i massaged my tummy one night and it was amazing what came out! so ya... that would totally work. give it a good deep massage deb.

i had someone come up to me at the gym today. we work out together sometimes and she said, "aleesha, you are no longer even a little overweight. you are thin girl! wow you look amazing!" made me grin from ear to ear all day long. then i came home and my hubby saw me walking down the street and said, "wow honey, you are so thin... look at YOU!" (he is not a compliment guy... so this was a shock) - oh ya.... i'm thin!!! (size 12... oh ya baby... in case you missed it... size 12!!!)

I have a question, how do you all deal with the lovely smelling food? My step mom makes the most amazing dinners and I need some ideas on how to avoid eating them. Any ideas would be appreciated:)

well that didn't last long LOL sorry... couldn't help but giggle when i read this post.

i leave the house, go have a bath, light some incense or go read a book in my room. :)

it takes "won't power" to do this firicia. we all have lots of "will power" but it's the "won't power" that you need to draw up and make it happen. i find that making sure i have a belly full of some yummy juice and more in the fridge really help me a LOT when i smell something wonderful in the house.

Hi everyone and congrats on your accomplishments!!! I will be juicing starting tomorrow!! Not sure for how long so I will just take it one day at a time. My favorite green juice is 1 bunch celery, 2 cucumbers, 2 handfuls of baby spinach. Its a very light juice. I also like green lemonade.

I am doing this feast for more spiritual reasons. Hopefully I can make it for longer than my last which was 21 days.

See you all tomorrow.

Hey Aleesha! Your new pic is just darling. :)
Congrats on getting into size 12!!! Yayness!!

Good heavens, I'm thrilled to finally be a 16! But when you've been into the 30's, as I have, 16 is a dream come true! :)

Spinach/celery/apple/cucumber is the base for all my green drinks, so I hear you on that. But I also add generous amounts of other greens to make sure I'm getting everything I need.

How to handle those great food smells - enjoy them. I'm not kidding. It makes absolutely no sense to fight it, you'll start going crazy and craving that food item even more. So I breathe deep and enjoy the smell as much as I can. Really!

Day 75 (I think, I may be losing a day or two) for me. Doing ok now. This afternoon was rough and I really wanted to quit, but it didn't last (never does). I'm happy to be on juice and happy to have made it this long! :) I've lost 45 pounds so far.

Congratulations Aleesha!!! You are truly inspiring to me!!! You have come SO far on your raw food journey. I mean, you are an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G woman!!!! I hope you can really take in the magnitude of your accomplishments and see them as we do! And I'm so glad to see that your treating yourself to a new look and a new wardrobe! What a joy that must be, especially because summer is the best time to shop for fun clothes! Btw: tried the straw/watermelon. Um...wow. Yummy!

A juicy toast to all of you new juicy feasters on this thread. Welcome and cheers to your good health! I'm so looking forward to hearing about and learning from your experiences. *clinks favorite Tweety bird glass full of green goodness in your honor*:D

Eveleaf:
75 days and 45 lbs! That's just incredible! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for your inspiration! Is this your first feast or are you a seasoned feaster? Wow. Your raw journey is astonishing!

Today is day 10 for me. Yippeeee for me!!!!!! I counted 'em up and I've drank 9.02 gallons of juice so far. By the time this is over I'll have consumed enough juice to fill two of my rain barrels! I'm actually a bit behind the recommended 1 gallon a day, but it's working for me. I'm drinking when I'm hungry (and when I'm not, it seems) and always have a water bottle in my hand.

Today's favorite juice was red grapes/oranges/lemon/pear. Kind of tasted like a tart cool-aid to me. I'm happy to say that all my green juices tasted yummy today, too. Tomorrow I'm going cantaloupe/strawberries (super duper good) and then back to pineapple blackberry (awesome). I'm in agreement with the yams. They seem really grounding and filling when I drink them. I like mine with beets! *smacks lips*

I'm just loving listening to my body (I've finally shut up long enough to hear it). For example, today my body said, "No fats, please." So I said, You bethcha! No flax seed oil for you then!"

Here's a juicy tid bit. I ran across a list of the top 20 most nutrient dense vegetables and fruits to juice. Here they are in order:
1. Bell peppers (numero uno!)
2. Parsley
3. Kale
4. Broccoli
5. Spinach
6. Celery
7. Brussels sprouts
8. Cauliflower
9. Carrots
10. Cabbage
11.Beets
12. Pineapple
13. Cantaloupe
14. Watermelon
15.Tomatoes
16. Apples
17. Strawberries
18. Pears
19. Oranges
20. Grapes
I went and picked up some Brussels sprouts (what would a day be without a trip to Co-op?). I'll let you know how they juice tomorrow. The fruits are farther down on the list, not because they lack valuable nutrients, but because they contain more natural sugars and tend to be higher in calories. I've read that broccoli and cabbage have a tendency to slow the metabolism, yet this list was compiled with detox and weight loss in mind. Don't know, don't care. I love juicing everything!

Got a lot of gurgling going on in my tummy today-rather amusing. Glad I didn't have to go some place where silence was required (like church or a golf tournament). I would have made quite a spectacle out of myself. Feeling great and starting to look noticaby better, too. Smooth skin, no dark circles under the eyes. My tummy is shrinking, too. Passed some more pooplets-moving up to pooplings today. No enemas in the past few days, but I am taking cascara sagrada everyday.

Hope everyone has a great night/morning! (((Bedtime hugs to all)))

I've got your tummy gurglies today. When they started yesterday, I thought things sounded "promising" too. Turned about to be all gurgle and no action. What on Earth could be going on in there? These are noises I have never heard before:o I did make some more progress today, but not the progress it SOUNDED like I would make.

Jeannie, your 1st day of juice feasting!!! I am only on day 5 so, I'm not very far ahead of you if you are starting today.

Eveleaf, what an amazing job losing all that weight. You have some amazing dedication/determination to have been juice feasting for 75 days already! Awesome!

Ebcl, I enjoy reading your posts & blog. It's nice to see what others are consuming on the feast.

I know I need to up my juice intake. I get so hungry and desparate for food so, I have to hurry to the fridge and juicer and get some sustenance. I have three young children that I have to keep after feeding. I feel like I'm in the kitchen almost all day either getting them something to eat, washing produce, juicing, or washing dishes.

Another thing is to make sure I drink enough water. I notice I don't feel so outrageously hungry if I just drink a nice big glass of water. I forget to drink enough water while I'm drinking all this juice.

Yup, we just have to enjoy food via our nose like you said Aleesha. Also, so nice for you to get compliments, especially from your husband. It has to give you all the more motivation to keep going!

Deb, do you usually make all your juices for the day? Do you make up to a gallon for yourself?

How about all you other juice feasters? Do you also make for the whole day? Gallon?

Firicia, are you with us on the juicing yet? I know that it has got to be very hard with yummy dinners being prepared. At least I don't have to deal with the smell of food being cooked since I try to feed my family raw. But I know what you mean. Even crackers in the dehydrator smelled so good to me. Drove me nuts! Like Aleesha said, you need to go find something else to do in order to avoid the temptation.

ellen, thanks for the list! that is great information to have. i have another one... here it is!

Aparagus is excellent with carrot.
Beets are excellent with carrots or apple.
Broccilli - carrot or apple. - high in protien
Brussels Sprouts - only a few - high in protien
Cabbage - healing stomach - drink within 60 seconds - mix with carrot/celery
Carrots - VERY healthy - high in calcium
Celery - blood builder - mix with carrots or apple
Cucumber - natural cooler
Collards - high in calcium
Fennel - good for eyes and headaches
Garlic - very healing. one a day.
Ginger root - heals throat - juice small piece with carrots
Kale - high in calcium
Lettuce - juice with any vege
Spanish onions - same as garlic
Parsley - hard on juicer so put in carrot at the same time. VERY healing
Peppers - juice stem, seeds etc - add to any other veges
Potato - heals gastric disorders after 10 days. red potatos with eyes are best.
Radishes - calm a sore throat - add to any vege juice
Spinach - cleanses and heals intesxtinal tract. juice with any veges
Sweet Potato (yam) - darker is best. will make juice a milkshake like taste. You can live on these alone and thrive well.

i had another BM today. although... i'm a little concerned about this wonderful tomato combo. two nights in a row i've consumed it (with relish i might add) and two nights in a row i was soaking wet from sweat all night long. now this only happens if i eat something that is not raw... my body's way of telling me "hey woman this is too much work!!!" - so... i'm wondering if that's what's going on here. i'm going to forego my tomato combo today and see if i have a better sleep. then i'll try it again and see if it makes a difference.

i'm also going to try straining it after juicing it... see if that helps??? i really love the flavour and the way it helps me to have a 'good feasting' evening instead of a 'hard feasting' evening... but perhaps i need to find another solution. i guess this little experiment will give me my answers.

so... question feasters~~~ when your feet hit the floor in the morning... are you getting a few glasses of water into you? absolutely first thing? it's a really good idea to do this. it sets the tone for the day and rehydrates your body after a night of dry fasting (as that's what we do when we sleep). so think about adding that to your morning regime.

rinda, i try to make sure i have some juice in the fridge all the time. this way... i never panic for juice. really helps me a lot. so when i make a juice, i make a little extra and keep (even just one glass) in the fridge. then i can drink it while i make my next juice. works for me. ;)

Great Mornin' Juice Feasters!!!
Wecome All!!!! Aleesha! I am sooooo proud of you! How wonderful about the 12 and new clothes.....you are so amazing and inspiring! (((((HUGS))))).....and Eve....wow! day 75.....seems like I just saw your Day 45 post.....time flies when you're juice feasting!!! You are almost there! We're all rooting for you!!!

The cravings went away after a couple of days....and a big part of this is mental....so important to drink drink drink your mason jar full of juice and make sure you have some handy! I make my fruit juices in the morning and the evening if I have to be up and out early......and usually do the greens in the evening or mid-afternoon....greens are such a work out for my Champion, it needs a rest!!!

Okay...I've settled my poo issue once and for all! .....I found a fibre cleanse in my cupboard that I had gotten a long time back from Hallelujia Acres, when Raw was still so new to me....it doesn't taste great...but sure beats SWF, lax tea or enemas for me.....and it worked like a charm....I figure I'll take it maybe once or twice in my 20 day feast...if my body seemed to need it!.........

I didn't sleep that great last night....disruppted sleep from babe waking and hubby snoring.....I'm usually sound asleep when he comes in too, but lately I've been awake...sleeping lighter it seems...? I think I need to have a little juice for my night snack before bed...that might help....

Off make more jUice!!!

Have a JUICY day! love, Deb

This is my first feast/fast. I've never been able to do one before. Truth told, I'm LDS, and we're supposed to fast (no water, even) one day a month, and I'm horrible at it. I struggle each and every time, and fail more often than not. I'll skip two meals but crumble before the day is out. So this is really my first time.

It's not *really* been 75 days, right Aleesha? Just one day. And then one day more. I'm taking it one hour, and one temptation, at a time just like you guys are. :)

just want to talk about this one day at a time -

We all need to remember that when we are fasting or feasting... eating raw, working out... whatever it is we are doing. Today is the day that counts. It really doesn't matter how many days you've been doing this, or how many more days are to come... today is THE day.

Honestly, I'm on Day 18 according to the math, but today is the same as Day 3 and Day 16... and I'm guessing Day 63 and 74 are going to be the same... cause it's just today.

So don't get all caught up with the numbers... you can celebrate them, but don't let yourself get overwhelmed with them... cause honestly... it's just one day... and that day is NOW!

...and now, I'm enjoying my delicious sweet potato/apple/cinnamon juice {who knew to juice a sweet potato??!}....that'll be a Fall fav. for sure....hey,that might be a good bedtime "snack" too!

Yummy for today: pineapple/orange/carrot! mmmm sweet!

Also made up: grapefruit/orange/romaine/cantelope!

and.....carrot/apple

and: spinach/celery/pineapple/apple!

Was on a roll...decided to mix some greens in with each fruit so it wasn't such a work out on the machine......mainly doing the greens with just a bit of fruit....also Hubby is doing Juice/mainly Raw too......Have to up and out early tomorrow so I've got a good stash to last to mid-morning tomorrow.....I am still so amazed at how much produce and fruit had disappeared from our kitchen into our bodies in such short time.

OUR BODIES ARE THANKING US EACH AND EVERY DAY WE DO THIS!

Greetings raw folks!!!
Ending day eight.... I had a tough time tonight. I came home from work and I was ravenous. My daughter is sick and I needed to make food for her. I made her chopped raw turnip greens with avocado and tomatoes. I found myself nibbling the greens. I was not prepared for my hunger and I haven't had to deal with making food until today. So, now I am prepared for this challenge next time. I had a great day before this issue. I drank the juice of an entire watermelon today. I am getting up so early to make juice and then running out before I get home from work. I need to save some to have in the evening. But then it's not fresh! Timing is tricky. I see now why people seclude themselves to do this!
On another note, If you were using non organic watermelon would you juice the rind?

i just made...4 tomatoes/2 carrots/half of a cucumber/1 small garlic clove/1 pkg fresh basil/1 bunch of fresh parsley/ = very yummy indeed!!!

i juice my non-organic watermelon rind... every time!

i figure an older juice is better than no juice :P so save some!!!

Thanks Aleesha, I juiced my rind, too. It was fabulous! They don't call it Water-melon for nothing!!
I will start saving juice for that difficult evening time. I sail through the day, but like you said, the evenings are tough sometimes. I am used to coming home from work and eating to relax and entertain myself. Another habit to dislodge!
Have a beautiful night!

Hey Shashibala...I hope your daughter feels better quickly.........the late afternoon/evenings are tough on me too...just got to push thru.....I do juice the rind on non-organic watermelons...after learning about that here...sometimes when the juice seperates in the fridge, I don't shake it up! I like the rind juice!!!....I often will make enough juice in the evenings so when I'm up and out with the kids to school and errands...I can have it ready...mornings are so busy getting them all ready.....it's still good...fruit juices that is, I drink the green within the day.......my toughest time yet is around this time...kids asleep...my quiet time...I'm used to enjoying a snack this time of night.....so...... I'm having a juice!!!!

'night my Juice friends and sweet dreams!

i'm starting a feast tomorrow... hoping this one will stick for more than 10 days. i'd really like to have that shift happen where cooked foods, dairy and wine aren't tempting anymore. made my juice for tomorrow already because tomorrow is an early day... so i figure i have committed myself to at least one day. then, the next day, the same. ;)

thanks aleesha for your words about being in the moment with this stuff; its so easy to get caught up in how huge 100 days is.

I will be starting a juice feast tomorrow morning -- but I have one challenge!!! My lovely husband (no sarcasm here -- just being dramatic!) left the lights on in my car and the battery's dead. He's out of town, of course. And I live in the middle of nowhere with no neighbors around.

So, all I have now for juicing is a couple cucumbers and some carrots.

I will have no choice but to bike again tomorrow (even though I'm a touch sore from all the biking I did today) to replenish the goodies.

And Ellen -- Your list is great! :)

Eva and Beckx, I just started today so I will be here with you two and Rinda is on day 5. Eveleaf and Beckx, I think we were feasting together last time. Eveleaf, Huge Congrats on such an accomplishment!!! Aleesha and all the others here, You are all amazing!!!

Im just polishing off some spinach, romaine, parsley, cilantro, tomato, carrot, celery juice. Soooo good!!

Aleesha, green lemonade is baby spinach or kale, 1 head romaine, 2-3 apples, and 2-3 lemons. You can make it in the vitamix or a juicer. It tastes like a yummy lemonade. My little one loves it. I have some watermelon chilling in the fridge for tomorrow.

Im off to go weigh in so I will know where Im starting. Still working on bidding farewell to my cellulite.

Oh goodie! It's time to check in on my feaster friends! I always look forward to ending my day with your wonderful and inspiring posts!!!! Geez, page 9 already. I'm so far behind:o

First off...to all of you who are getting started feasting today and tomorrow...Good luck to you! YOU CAN DO THIS! ((*high fives everyone*)) As other have already said here today, it really is just about this moment. :)

Aleesha,
Thanks for your list. Very helpful indeed. (I am a list maker and lover lists) I read your blog today, and I want YOU to know how much YOU inspire us! Btw: I too hit the ground running in the morning with 32 oz of water (sometimes 64 oz). In fact, despite all of the fluids I've been drinking, I've actually been waking up slightly thirsty. My body expects the morning water now (used to be coffee) and I can't imagine starting the day without it! I'm trying to drink at least 96 to 120 oz per day. It really keeps me feeling full, too (but I pee A LOT!)

Speaking of peeing, some days it seems like I just go and go and go...I finally figured out why. Two words....Dandelion greens. I did some research today and found out DGs have diuretic properties  They are also packed with goodies so very worthwhile. Very high in vitamin A-even more so than carrots. Also, they are b-i-t-t-e-r! Just an FYI for those feasters who might be taking long car trips. Skip the dandelion greens if you can't stop to pee!

Deb,
I get chilly, too. (I'm kind of a chilly willy anyway.) My nose is oddly cold to the touch. Some of that is because the juice (especially the green juice) drops your blood pressure almost immediately after you drink it. And of course, your colon is on a bit of a holiday so your metabolism is probably ticking a bit slower. That, and we're drinking A LOT of cold juice LOL!

Shash,
I just read another list. This time from the Environmental Working Group. The Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce ranks pesticide contamination for 44 popular fruits and vegetables. Watermelon was 31 of 44. Because the nutritional quality of watermelon juice improves dramatically if you juice the rind and seeds, my guess is that if you wash it up good, you'll be fine.
Here's a link to the list for anyone no able to access organic.
http://www.foodnews.org/fulldataset.php

So, the Brussels sprouts were good. Very acidy tasting, as you would expect, but fun to juice. I read that they are high in anticancer compounds the same as others in the cabbage family, but high in phosphorus. Because phosphorus acts to inhibit the utilization of calcium, it's recommended that you juice Brussels sprouts with other greens extra high in calcium (kale, spinach, parsley).

Bizzare physical observation of the day: My sweat (when licking lips) is super salty. WAY saltier than usual. Either my taste buds are getting more sensitive or my sweat is getting saltier. Hmmmmm.....

Today's juices: Lacinato kale, green pepper, carrots, parsley, dandelion greens, celery, cucumbers, zucchini, Brussels sprouts, and apples...cantaloupe/strawberry...(loved it!) I'm going pineapple blackberry tomorrow-can't wait!

Nite nite feasters!

Ellen

Oil pulled, had some wheatgrass juice, feeling light already as I did not eat after about 5 or 6 last night.

Pretty soon, I'm going to have some juice of some veggies I have cut up (chard, cucumber, carrots) and the juice of two limes...

But I was thinking -- could I juice an onion with something like that??? Maybe I'm crazy, but that sounds good to me!

And Jen the green lemonade sounds tasty!!! I haven't had an apple in a couple weeks because the local shopping center has been low on organics, and apples are one fruit I try to stay away from non organic... But I've gotta bike up there in a few hours anyways. Crossing my fingers they'll have them!!!

Sheesh -- I was about to have more juice but got on a way too long conference call. FINALLY two hours later, I'm sipping on my concoction and WOW two limes was way too much. LOL!

I actually felt good, though, for the two hours. I sort of liked the feeling of letting my body do it's thing.

ah yes the morning ritual of water and MSM in orange juice. i don't know if i love it or not LOL

i've never been a "eat/drink first thing" kinda girl... so taking in something is hard for me. it's a chore... but i do it. every single day. i am finally no longer waking up thirsty, didn't realize it till i read your post ellen. thanks for making me aware!

i am soooo excited. tomorrow is day 20 and i have to be honest with you all. i didn't think i'd make it to day 20. i really really really really really really wanted to... but last week when i was having those 'hard' times for three days... well i just didn't believe i would be able to achieve this.

two things changed that for me:

one: my hubby told me he was going raw. that renewed my belief in my own abilities for some reason. not sure why... but it did.
second: i added that tomato combo to my daily regime.

well actually there's a third one which cannot be ignored or denied. YOU. each and every one of your posts... no matter how short or long has inspired me, motivated me and assisted me to keep on keeping on. i thank you all... thank you thank you thank YOU!

today is a day of 'nothing' for me. i'm looking forward to it. it's raining here so i'm going to just take it easy. i may go to the gym for a bit later, if i'm in the mood otherwise i may just sit around and play with my daughter all day. just going with the flooooooooow.

Whoot! Whoot! Day 20!!!! I knew you could do it Aleesha! I'm SO proud of you!!!!!!!

I've been thinking a lot about what you posted about taking things one day at a time. A simple lesson, but one that is easily forgotten when your mid struggle. The hiking trail I walk every day has 70 + steps to climb to get in and out of the park. My house is on the street at the tops of the stairs. The steps are made from old railroad ties. Some of them are big and hard to get over; others are worn down easy to climb. Some steps are missing altogether. A lot like this feast! Every time I get to the bottom of the staircase after my hike, looking up and seeing all of those stairs seems daunting. So I do what my dog does. He puts his head down and considers only one step at a time as he climbs (animals are so great, no?). Then before you know it, viola! We're at the top! I'm lucky that everyday I face this physical reminder of my juice feast. It really helps me stay focused-between reading the posts on this thread, that is!

I"m off to make juice! Happy juicy day feasters!

Oh, Eva....

I juice red onions a lot...throw a small wedge in with my greens. They offer some of the same benefits as garlic and others in the Allium family, only less pronouced-reducing blood pressure, lowers blood sugar levels, promotes detoxification reactons...Plus they taste yummy! I think the smell helps me feel like I'm eating something.

....Ah, my bad (always bringing up the rear on these posts)...well then...

Eve, thanks so much for the "stay in the moment" reminders!

I just discovered something helpful. Pouring a little bit of water through the juicer while it's running after you finish juicing really helps push that last little bit out. I was just juicing some berries (pineapple/blackberry/pear) and despite pushing a pear through last to "clean up" the extras, pouring a tny bit of water through really helped me recover some berry juice that was still hiding out in the juicer. :)

Deb -- That's great -- and you're so right that life happens even when we're juice feasting (or raw or whatever!). Good reminder.

And Ellen -- This is the best juice ever!!! I used half an onion, some cauliflower, celery, carrots and chard, plus maybe I'm missing something else? LOL, I dunno. I even did the bit of water at the end. I'm so glad I tried this. It's so different!

Aleesha,

Ditto on throwing the pulp back in-especially with fruit. My veggie pulp is always bone dry, but my fruit pulp usually gets an extra run through and even then it still comes out moist. I was thinking about using some pantyhose the strain out some more. Has anyone tried this? Maybe I'll try it tomorrow...all of my juice has been made for today. I suppose I could get a nut milk bag, but I've got plenty of old panty hose around here that I would rather recycle.

My compost pile is *giddy* with pulp right now. :D

I just tried some apple, kale, carrots, ginger. Good stuff. Had a little bit of a bite to it as a bit of jaleps. juice was still in the juicer from my other green juice. Good, though.

i had a good day. i ended up making about an extra quart of juice because i thought i might be in tempting situations and wanted something yummy. in addition to the gallon+ of juice i also drank more than TWO GALLONS of water... somehow. i've been basically peeing every few minutes. but my skin is noticeably smoother and softer already so i'm guessing my insides are pretty happy.

Evening juicy feasters...

I'm going to try to knock off early tonight. Today was a tough one for me. It started well, but as the day progressed, I started getting caught up in my thoughts and feeling gloomy. My ego was working overtime spewing up all kinds of rationalizations as to why I should eat something. Of course, I'm not hungry...haven't been all day. All of the mental back and forth zapped me of energy. Ah well. Soldiering on! My hubby comes home tomorrow (he's been gone a week) Hooray!!!!!! :D (**heart pounds**)

Aleesha,
I was looking your post from day 12 on your blog. Looks like you were in the thick of it then, too. I'm finding it helpful to go back and re-read some of your posts--thanks for that (*hugs*) Interesting to compare note as to where I am, compared to where you were. So far, I seem to be on track with your experiences. I'm not sure if that means I'm in for a rough couple of days, or not. I have dug my heels in and I am prepared to do battle, though!

Eva,
Glad you liked the red onion. Me,too! Me,too! Garlic and jalapenos are good, too. They certainly mask any bitter green flavors if you are short on apples or carrots. Plus, if you like Mexican food...;)

Eveleaf: Have you experienced any hair loss on your extended feast? I'm reading things about heavy metals leaving via hair follicles and wondering what your experience has been. Not concerned, just wondering...

Hope you all had a great day today! Power on feasters!
Good night, sleep tight, and detox well!

Well I too am off to bed early. I have barely done any juices today and barely drank any water. I'm not sure why I haven't had any water... but the juices... well the one I made was too pulpy so I didn't drink it and for some reason... I never made another. Oh well... I'm very hungry and instead of drinking... I'm going to hit the sack.

Ah yes... day 11 - 13 was not a fun time for me. All I can honestly say is "drink your juice, don't skimp and be super gentle with your Self" - remember that this is part of the journey... one the harder steps... and tomorrow WILL be better.

I'm very pleased with myself right now... as when I wake up tomorrow... I'll be on Day 20 and this feels like a huge achievement to me. My mind is spinning... knowing I've made it! I achieved what... last week I saw as being impossible. I actually did it!!! I can do this. I can achieve health. I can juice feast. I can make it.

I can I will I am!!!!!

Ellen: LOL! You're too funny.

And, well -- I'm just giving a little farewell. I had no idea I would only want one day of feasting. I mostly was concerned that my concentration had taken a hit from quickly getting addicted to cacao. So I wanted to do what it would take to get cleaned up, get it out of my system. And sheesh, it only took a day. I'm already back to "normal" haha.

But! This reminded me that I have been thinking of feasting a day a week for a while. Now would be a good time to get that in swing -- it's so good to give the digestive system a rest but to still get loads of vitamins and minerals flushed into the body.

Anyways -- you all enjoy the journey. :D

Shash... wow... Day 10!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!!

Tonight I made some mango juice... as a little treat and to celebrate my 20 days... and I thought... oh look I have some watermelon juice left over, I'll mix it together.

Well, it turned out to be my celery, cucumber, ginger, fennel, apple juice. NOT a good combo with mango LOL But I drank it anyway, I never waste a juice. I make myself drink it. :P

I am so pleased... I am doing so well. My hubby just made my son a delicious smelling dinner and it's not bothering me in the least.

On another note: We went to the beach (with is 7 minutes from our home) for a walk tonight. My daughter was playing at the park and I heard these two moms... both overweight saying that after 40 you can NOT lose weight. Not possible... my hubby grabbed me and walked me away from them. I was going to go tell them they were wrong... but he wouldn't let me. *brat hubby*

Then earlier today I was at the health food store and I ran into a lady from the post office. She was shocked when she saw me. She said, "Oh wow have you lost weight!" I replied, "Ya, a hundred pounds..." She almost dropped to the floor. The clerk told me that she never stopped talking about how amazing I look ... she went on and on... heehee I loved hearing it. Made me grin from ear to ear and back again!

So... it was a GREAT day. I got some sun... some sand... compliments... and all in all... had an easy feasting day. Who could ask for more? :D

love you ALL,
Aleesha

Greeattt Morning Juice Feasters!!!

I do feel really good today...in spite of my boys getting up before 7 on a weekend! Now why do they do that?! They have been so busy this morning! I made them blueberry pancakes and had no desire to taste! I drank my watermelon juice and now am chilly brrrrr!

What has been helping me at night, is after the kids go to bed, make a tomato or sweet potato juice...so quick to make and very satisfying...I do believe that after I break fast and go back to eating, that if I want something before bed, that is what I will have...so much better on the digestion than something heavy!

I received a new Raw cooking book and a Vegan cookbook the other day, and have been marking recipes to make, and didn't feel the slightest urge to break fast doing so!

I feel very empowered having made it half-way thru my first juice feast! Now I just menally break up the rest of my time in 5 days and 5 more days! My summer shorts fit so much better already than last year! Hooray!!1

Make a Juicy Juicy Juicy Day my friends! love, Deb:D

It feels so good when people notice your new found health and slimness. I've lost about 44 pounds now and people are still not quite sure if something has changed.:p You look so awesome Aleesha!!
I have decided that I will break my fast tomorrow morning with the famous soaked prunes. I will have completed 11 days today. I feel very good about my current accomplishment and I might start another 10-14 day fast very soon. I have really enjoyed the feeling of fasting. I would like a break, though. Also, my daughter's diet is suffering. Without me eating good raw foods, she has been eating more crap with her friends. She turned 22 yesterday. I don't get to fix her little meals much anymore, but If I'm eating something raw she will always join me. I am really missing the time we spend together preparing and eating raw foods in the evening. It is time.
I am so loving the juice that I am planning to keep one meal a juice meal. I love the feeling of lightness and energy it gives me. I generally only eat two meals a day. I just don't need or enjoy breakfast. So I will settle at one juice meal and one raw meal and see how that feels for a few days.
WARNING! Bathroom talk Ahead!
I am a prude when it comes to poop. Or I was a prude. Despite my prudish past, I must report that one of the main benefits of this fast has been that my digestive system is not dealing with old waste. Or, at least not much. Within the first 4 days I had eliminated a ton of weird black poop unlike anything I'd seen before. Some was liquid and some was in the form of hard black lumps. Nothing like on those commercials for colon cleansing products!!! But definitely old stuff that has been loosened up by raw foods and juicing. No need for enemas or colonics. Now things are moving out quickly. Even the pulp from a thicker juice is moving on out in a matter of hours. I now understand why people who eat raw and cleanse are obsessed with their poo. If you eat something, you can see it leave your body very quickly. It's like, there go those tomatoes I juiced this morning. Very cause and effect. Not like the old days when by the time food was eliminated we'd forgotten we'd consumed it it was so long ago. Yuck, now that was not healthy for the lower intestubes!!:D
After tomorrow I will still be lurking here to see how you all are doing on your fasting journeys!!! All the info and tips everyone has come up with and shared on this thread have been so valuable to me. I will be referring to this thread on my next fast for sure.
Rawk on Dear Ones!!!!

Shash, I am so proud of you for honouring your body and your Self. Be sure to focus on gently breaking your fast. I'm glad you are doing soaked prunes for your first meal, be sure to add some watered down green smoothies to your day as well.

Perhaps adding a green smoothie to your daily regime as well? They are so good for ya.

Thrilled that you shared your poo adventure with us. Great to hear!!!

Deb, yes I've juiced a banana... 4 drops of juice to all pulp... not worth it at all. Freeze them for a nice ice cream treat when you break your fast!!! Gentle on your system and yummy to eat!

Today is Day 21, therefore I did my measurements on my fancy scale. I'll be posting them on my blog but I'm pleased to say my fat% has gone down 5.3% in my 21 days!!! Still need a drop of 7.5% to get into the "recommended zone"... but it's coming!!! I can't imagine what I was a year ago *EEK*

I just had a nice sized BM... this is amazing to me. So far I've have one on these days!

Update: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 6, Day 9, Day 13, Day 14, Day 16, Day 18, Day 20, Day 21... all natural BMs. I'll keep adding this as my Juice Feast progresses. These are all without any assistance... no enemas, colonics or herbal assistants.

I'm updating it here:

Hi everyone!! Glad to hear that everyone is doing soo great! I dont have much time to post but Im still here, now on day 4. Ive been doing just fine other than I have been having problems sleeping. Having a hard time getting to sleep and then I wake up too early and cant get back to sleep. But Im feeling good. I dont feel like Im lacking sleep, not yet anyway. I also need to up my water, but the peeing at work....especially on busy nights. I find myself having to hold it for much too long. Is everyone doing the gallon of juice or is it ok to skip a qt of juice for more water??? Wish I had more time to read here and in the blogs. Oh well, I made it thru 21 days the last time so Im sure I can do it again..... maybe even 40:o !!! Love everyones inspirations here, keep up the great feasting!!!

Juicy blessings to all

Hi everyone again!

Congrats Jen on Day 4! Hooray! Yes, I go down a qt. sometimes, depends on how I feel. I also find that I need a bit of juice before I sleep...a pulpier one or sweet potato/cinnamon/apple......ummmm

Shashibala: You have been inspiring and fun to feast with! I'm glad that you are stopping when it feels right and will be enjoying the time with your daughter.....I've been making simpler meals for my kids and they've been content...my youngest has been drinking lots of green and fruit juice, but I have to be careful to balance the diet of my other 2.....Congrats on your slimmness and cleaner body....what a gift you've given yourself! I'll see you on the other forums!!!

Aleesha, you continue to be inspiring! .......I had another unaided poo too the other day...I notice that the pulpy juices esp. tomato seem to have this cleansing effect....wonder if it would be the same if I was straining the juice? I dunno, but I wouldn't change over to straining the juice...too time consuming and I fully believe I am getting great benefits w/o straining it!:p

Warm Hugs to All!
Blessings, Deb

well I asked someone who juice feasts a lot and she told me not to worry about drink a few more pulpy juices here and there. she said that you don't to be drinking them exclusively... but to have one a day or every second day won't hurt anything. :)

so is anyone else in this thread doing a 92 day juice feast? i'm off for a walk and haven't re-read the thread to find out...

aleesha, i'm planning on 92 days.

day 3 today... i'm in a really good mindset this time around. the last few times i've tried to feast i felt really resentful of being around food. today i was at a fundraiser with tons of foods i would have really enjoyed eating; i even made my favorite guacamole for it... didn't eat anything. didn't even taste the guac while i was making it. just smiled, enjoyed the smells, drank some water. i feel pretty unstoppable. a lot of my favorite fruits are coming out and when i originally started feasting it was so i could be done in time to enjoy them. now i'm excited to juice them. :)

i've also had solid bms for the last few days... one per day, decent sized. i always assumed i needed assistance during cleanses. i think that's why it ended up being true: i never gave my body a chance. thanks for the inspiration to go au naturale, aleesha.

Aleesha Sattva
05-31-2008, 08:18 PM
ah i'm glad you are allowing your body the option of being natural. ;) if it doesn't work out... then do something (at least that's my motto)... but i'm still pooping on day 21!

today we were at the beach and a hot dog stand was up wind... smelled wonderful. i enjoyed the smells... watched everyone eating and sipped on my pineapple juice :D it's not bothering me either, this time around. i wonder if it's because we know we are in this for the long haul?

so you will have a mere 19 days remaining when i am done. nice that we'll have each other during this. i know this thread has made a HUGE difference for me.

just made some tomato juice... this is definitely my favourite juice right now LOL

oh i meant to update everyone... remember when i first drank the tomato juice and i was sweating so badly all night long? well i didn't stop the tomato juice but the sweating only happened two nights. i'm guessing it was simply detox... something in the tomatoes must have been detoxing me in a way i hadn't before???

TOMATO Tomatoes are feeling a little out of place in this list because they are a fruit. But we assumed anyone looking for tomatoes would go to the Vegetable Section, so here they are.

Vegetable Guide from God's Banquet Table

Providing tomatoes are vine-ripened, they are a high source of vitamin C, in fact, one tomato is equal to more than 50% of the recommended daily allowance. Good source of organic sodium phosphorus, calcium, potassium, magnesium, malic and oxalic acid and sulfur.

The problem is that most tomatoes found in the supermarkets during the off season have the quality, taste and vitamin C content of a baseball. Vine-ripened tomatoes may cost you a little more because of the difficulty in shipping, but it is well worth the money in nutritional value.

It is an absolute must to grow your own succulent sweet tomatoes. Even if you live in an apartment there are hybrids that have been created especially for growing in pots. We have tomato plants growing in every possible corner around our home. Our children love to go out in the morning and graze on these freshly-ripened ruby red treats.

Tomato juice has a wonderful taste that is quite different from store-bought juice which is boiled and stored in cans for months. The health-giving acids in tomatoes are beneficial to the body unless heated or canned.

Look for bright red, soft, sweet-smelling tomatoes. They ought to be plump, heavy and filled with juice. Always buy from your local farmer, when in season. Do not juice green tomatoes which may irritate the kidneys.

Happy Saturday juicy feasters!

Wow! So much has happened since checking in on this thread last night!

Shash,
Great job on 11 days! You have done something wonderful for your body, that's for sure! Kudos to you for listening to your body! Good luck with your feast breaking. Hope to see you back here soon!

Deb,
Yipeeeee!!!! Congrats on 10 days! (*dances juicy jig*) Your half way to your goal already! We'll be here to support you the rest of the way!:D

Jen,
I too cut back on my quantity of juice now and then, although I will have to say that I usually pay for it a day or so later by being more hungry than usual. Still, sometimes it feels nearly impossible to drink it all down! Plenty of feasters seem to fast on water for a couple days throughout their feasts. I think it's a great way to re-ignite your thirst for juice if you find yourself getting tired of it.

Aleesha,
I'm all in (for 92 days). I think I'm exactly a week behind you.

On that note...I asked to be delivered some resolve last night after struggling all day (I was REALLY on the fence about continuing). So get this...I had this CRAZY dream last night! I dreamed that Ganesha (the Hindu diety with the elephant's head) was standing in front of me. (In my dream I didn't make the connection...I remember only thinking of him as the God of Juice Feasting:p )
My whole body was covered with large padlocks, and one by one, I was taking them off and handing them over to Ganesha. Now I don't know much about the Hindu pantheon, so I had to look up what Ganesha represents...The Lord of New Beginnings and Remover of Obstacles. Okay doky! I've got my resolve back, thank you very much!

Anyway....today has been better. Not great, but better. I definitely feel like I'm on the upswing, though.

Poop talk:

There is a lot of talk on this thread about letting things move out naturally, so for those reading this and feeling like they want to use enemas, I thought I'd add my two cents.

I'm having regular BM's every three days or so. I'm using cascara sagrada (which I really don't think is doing anything at all for me) and I'm also drinking the occasional psyllium/bentonite shake. The psyllium/bentonite shakes are not laxatives, but work more like a scraper, helping to dislodge any old mucous build-up that may be present in the colon. The psyllium provides a tiny bit of fiber, and the benonite (a clay) binds to any toxins and carries them out of the body (I've had some pretty interesting results thus far:eek: )

Despite regular BM's, I'm still choosing to do an enema now and then when I feel it's beneficial (about once a week). I realize that we are not eating three squares a day right now, but our bodies are still creating metabolic waste as a by-product of juicing, and that waste needs to exit in a timely manner. The longer stool remains inside of your colon, the more moisture your colon extracts from it. This can make your poo harder, and harder to pass (hence the reason most of us are still having (and will continue to have) solid BMs every 3 days while juicing...it's sitting in there a few days hardening before it comes out).

For me personally, sometimes I find having a BM only every 3 days or so a bit uncomfortable. I can feel it all building up. The occasional enema seems to relieve this, and it removes a much larger quantity than the 6" inches normally exiting every 2-3 days. For people on BC pills or HRT (both known to cause constipation) enemas can be helpful. Don't be scared! Drinking nothing but fluids is NOT NATURAL. Juicing gives your GI. Tract a break, but it also removes 99% of the fiber from your diet. For long-term feasters, the occasional psyllium/bentonite shake can really help clean things out from the top down. Again, just my two cents. There’s no right or wrong here…just what is right for you and your body!

FYI...for people suffering from arthritis or other inflammatory diseases, it's worth noting that veggies from the nightshade family (tomatoes, eggplant, potatoes, cayenne, bell peppers) can cause inflammation around the bones and joints.

Have a great night all!

Ellen

I've been meaning to share this and keep forgetting.

When I began my 20 days of Green Smoothies (and 5 days of water fasting tossed in for good measure) I was having trouble with my hearing. There were times when my ears were totally plugged. It was the oddest thing. It started during my feast.

Then it happened again during this Juice Feast. I would have a day where I could barely hear. Almost like I was sick with an ear infection or something. Anyway... it has cleared and my hearing has improved soooooooooo much. I am so pleased.

I knew my hearing was getting worse over the years... yes years. This has been a downhill slide for awhile now. Well, it's like my ears are brand new! I can hear so well again.

I wanted to share this with you all, cause it's something I did not expect at all!

wow these cleansing dreams are back. i spent all last night dreaming about my relationship with my eldest daughter. she's an adult now, so i don't give her my 2 cents... i keep my comments to myself. in my dream, i told her everything i've been feeling. i just felt this outpouring of 'stuff' from my body.

i heard that you detox in many ways but have never read of anyone's actual experience before... so this is all new to me. the dreams, my house becoming clean. do you know that now i notice dust on things. i notice it big time and i can't stand it. i am sweeping the floors and dusting like a crazy woman LOL my family thinks i'm losing my mind.

all this in 22 days. where will i be in 44? 66? 88? it's mind boggling - it really is. but hey... i'm in to the flow of it all... and ready willing and able to accept whatever comes my way... moment by moment... remembering to breathe!

Aleesha,

Don’t I know it, sister! I’m a great cook and a pretty good baker…but I suck at making juices sometimes. For the past three days, my proportions have been all out of whack on my greens. I’ve concocted some of the worst juices to every see the inside of a mason jar, that’s for sure (I don’t really drink from mason jars). Amazing what’s going on with your hearing and listening messages…

Deb,
Must be something in the air. All my creatures (great and small) seemed up an at ‘em much earlier than usual. Grrrrrr….Nice that you could make use of your time, though.

Speaking of wacky dreams…I attended a dreamtime seminar on raw foods last night. Can’t remember much, but I saw Matt Monarch there, so I assume the speaker was someone pretty good! LOL! Had a different, non-raw food related dream about Jon Bon Jovi (I don’t really listen to their music, but I found myself wishing I could remember more of that one, too!);)

Today (day 15) went off without a hitch. I'm in such a better place mentally today...and I finally made some yummy juice (did I ever need that!). I might suggest green apple/orange/ginger for something new. Also down another 4 lbs from this past week. :) I was a bit surprised by that, but hey!...who's going to argue?

I'm off to work...deadines, deadlines...

Have a lovely and relaxing evening juice friends!

i only have kale, radishes, celery and limes left for tuesday's juices so i might have to go to the store tomorrow and pick up some oranges or something. has anyone tried orange and ginger? am i crazy or does it sound kind of good?

I'm so glad you like it Aleesha!...I was pleasantly surprised that the collards were so mild!!!

But fellow Juice Feasters, alas, I am wrapping up today...will start tomorrow with watered down green smoothies.....I did a lot of thinking today as I was juicing, juicing, juicing.....the main reason being that my boys are out of school next week, and I want to allow some time for me to get adjusted and prepared to be as Raw as can be.....my household gets quite busy with 3 young boys!!! If I am not prepared with what I will be eating etc., then it's too easy to slip. I'm moving my kids towards veganism. They eat pretty healthy usually, but it's been hard for me balance out their meals lately because I'm hogging most of the fruit and veggies! And I'm a bit concerned about the expense, with regards to the rest of the families meals etc.

I am super please to have completed a first 12 day juice feast...this started out just 3 days, then 5, then maybe 30, then 20....and now is right for me to wrap up. I love the results, what I've learned about myself and the many delish juices I've tried! I've loved connecting with all of you and look forward to seeing you on the boards!!! This thread kept me going though and brought inspiration and new ideas. THANK YOU!!!! Good evening juicy friends!

Deb,
A fond farewell to you...It’s been so great having you here!!! You’re smiley voice will be missed! Congratulations on finishing up your first feast!!!…12 days is spectacular! I am so proud of you! Yes! Please check in and let us know how your summer is going…we’ll still be here! Good luck with your boys…and kudos to being so conscious of their health…what a glorious gift you’re giving them :)

Jen…have a great trip! We’ll be here when you get back….

Aleesha and Beckx,
Looks like the three of us are going to be holding down the fort now, eh? I’ve got a serious case of long haul resolve going on. I'm comitted to going the full 92 days! I do have some challenging events coming up this summer (who doesn’t), but I’ll just have to work (juice) my way around them!

Today was another good day (#16). Nothing too remarkable about it…just an all around good day. I restocked my fridge, and oh, my…I will NEVER be without cilantro again! So good to juice with! Yummmmm!

I also loaded up on berries, watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple. Having some wonderful pineapple/raspberry juice right now. Should have a good crop of them to harvest here at home in another month or two. Thinking about trying some blueberries with watermelon later this week.

I did have another crazy cleansing dream last night. Suffice to say my true SELF is coming forth from the shadows to take a more prominent role in my life. Yippeee! My ego's going to have to start sharing the stage!

I’m also feeling super emotional lately….the smallest thing will evoke tears of joy….lots of detoxing on an emotional level....

Aleesha,

Can’t relate to the period talk. Went through premature menopause (a.k.a. premature ovarian failure) at 30. Maybe juice feasting and raw foods will bring my ovaries back online…now that would be interesting. :p It will be intersting to see what kind of rhythm your body falls into on this feast...

Have a wonderful day tomorrow guys! Nite Nite!

Ellen,

I have Father's Day and my hubby's birth day coming up in the next two weeks... plus some other events so I hear ya. I'll be juicing my way through them all.

I'm a little overwhelmed today to be honest. I'm so friggin' bloated and uncomfy but... at the same time I had some wonderful things happen. I was able to do my first ever shoulder stand in yoga. For some reason I just couldn't get up before. But today... I held it strong for the full time. I'm very pleased with myself. I also noticed this morning that my tummy was flatter than usual (before it bloated up like a balloon)... so these are all good things.

I'm spending more time in meditation which is assisting me greatly as well.

To pamper myself I had two tomato juices today. I am truly addicted to them big time. Really loving the juice!!!

yup, i'm definitely in it for the long haul.

i had tomato juice yesterday before the sunburn and today the burn is almost completely faded. i actually think it might be turning into a tan... which i have always heard people talk about but it has never ever happened to me. weird.

ellen, i just tried raspberry-pineapple for the first time! it was so delicious and thick!

Beckx,

Hmm....mine is never thick, but I strain everything REALLY well-maybe too well :o Glad you're in this for the long haul, too! Forgive my laziness (not wanting to read prior posts), but what day are you on again?

Aleesha,

I've got two two weddings (both in town, thank goodness), and an overnight birthday party out of town. Those will be no problem, but my hubby and I frequent the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness (we live close by) during the summer. We take frequent canoe camping and backpacking trips. Those should be interesting. I'm not talking state park electrical hook-ups, either---I'm taking back country wilderness. Oh well...I have the will, so there's got to be ways!:D

i strain mine really well too; i think its from the vitamix mixing air into it... it doesn't feel heavy in your mouth, just creamy. yum.

wow camping and wedding while juice feasting? you are a champion my dear!!!

speaking of a champion... i use mine to make all my juices and i find some mixtures are just thicker than others. regardless i don't think it really matters. we are still drinking juice... our bodies are still getting a huge rest from it.

beckx, very cool about your burn turning to a tan. keep drinking the tomato and see if you even burn again... cause i bet you won't!

i did something silly this morning. i had a 1/2 cup of coffee. don't know what possessed me to do such a thing but my tummy is not happy with me about it. i immediately drank 24 oz of water and am sipping on another 12 oz as i type... to dilute this hideous vile concoction inside my belly. my poor belly...

*aleesha* - okay body, i've given you the chance to heal with all these healthy foods so i think i'll pour some acid in and see how i fair!

*body* WTF??? why?

*aleesha* cause sometimes i do daft things!

*body* once again, i suffer for your choices.

*aleesha* can i appease you with some water?

*body* ummm, ya that would help a little... thanks. but hey, aleesha... could you NOT do this again please! we don't want acid poured into us again.

*aleesha* no problem, won't happen again... at least not till the next time i'm daft!

LOL! Coffee? Quite a funny conversation, Aleesha...what a shocker to your system! Is you hubster back on the beans? Mine is just getting off of them. He's turned into the Chai tea guy now. Even that doesn't work to well in the morning for me at the moment...water, water, water...that's all I seem to want-and right away, please! Thankfully our bodies are forgiving. If mine wasn't, I would be totally screwed from the abuse I laid on it in my 20s (um...okay, and my 30s):(

Beckx,

Ah, yes....creamy. Mine, too. Pineapple/blackberry is awesome, too!Not sure what today's fruit will be. I'm feeling like something different...

Water breaks over...Off to make juice...

I'm not juice feasting, but I do drink alot of juice throughout the day. I found some that are really good that ya might want to try, especialy the green grape & strawberry, it's wonderful.

1. green grapes + strawberries

2. watermelon + lime

3. watermelon + strawberries + lime

4. celery + cucumber + apple + banana + ginger + parsley

Hi all, I'm new to this thread and website. I have been looking for a support group that is juice fasting for the longest time!!! I am so thankful I found you! I have only done one 14 day juice fast before. It was wonderful. I am starting another one tomorrow. My goal is 30 days. My main goal is for spiritual purposes and, of course, the health benefits are magnificent! Question: on my last juice fast I did not drink any coffee. Will decaf coffee be bad to drink on this fast? I can give it up, but I don't like to think about it:) Thanks for your help!

Aleesha Sattva
06-03-2008, 03:43 PM
i consider coffee bad... even decaf not sure what the regular protocol is though to be honest. welcome welcome welcome renovate!

gg, thank you so much. lime is my passion right now and i do a LOT of watermelon juice... who knew i could do them together!!!

how do you juice a banana? i guess you could only do it in a vitamix and then strain with water since it's like a big nothing coming out of my champion!

gg... you are just what we needed... a little 'change' of recipes!!!! thank you thank you thank YOU for posting!!!

ellen, my body is still punishing me for the coffee. heavy mucus! heavy mucus!!! yuck. and my poor tummy is still sore :(

oh and i did have another BM! LOL

Greetings feasties!

GG,
Thanks for much for your recipes! They look delish:D I haven't tried lime in anything yet...don't know why...guess it hadn't occurred to me yet...
That's one fun part of being on a long feast, we have plenty of time to try new and different combinations!

On that note, I just made the most INTENSE beet/apple juice. Sweet tasting but made me woozy! I've heard beet juice can overwhelm you system if you're not used to it. Yep! Sure does! Both times I've made this it freaks my system out for like 20 minutes after drinking. Then I'm fine...and pee red for a few hours. LOL!). I love all these juice ideas...Thanks everyone! I'm kind of exploring one or two news fruits and veggies each week...combining them every which way... When I find something I really like, I tend to get into one routine, and then another, and then another....This week it's been cilantro, garlic and green grapes(not together)...next week (a.k.a. next shopping trip) it will probably be blueberries and maybe jicima....

I so wish I could juice grapefruits. Love 'em...and haven't been able to eat one in years. Apparently, they interact badly with several kinds of medications, including HRT with estrogen or BC pills. Nasty headaches, sore boobs, etc. No thanks!

Renovate,
Welcome! So glad you're joining us! Cheers to starting your feast tomorrow!
(*raises glass of juice in honor*) We'll be here for you on your journey! :D My two cents on coffee...skip it. Decaf contains small amounts of caffeine, too. Plus, it's very acidic. Your body probably won't like it much either (right Aleesha?) ...Maybe have fun exploring some new herbal teas instead?

Today's favorite juice...orange/green grapes/strawberries/apples

Aleesha,
Feeling better today? (sans that coffee experiment, that is)...

Sometimes I plug my nose when I drink it. When I heat it up it's better. Maybe if I add different herbs. Any suggestions?

4 tomatoes the size of your fist
1T dried basil

1 wedge lime
1 small red pepper
1 small clove of garlic OR garlic salt
1 tsp salt (celtic sea salt)

I too started to despise the taste and smell of raw juices-very early on in this feast, as a matter of fact:D

i thought for a minute, "couldn't i do six days on and one day off? wouldn't i still benefit?" ;) the answer is it doesn't matter because i'd regret it as soon as i started eating whatever gross thing. weird how quickly and intensely it comes on but i'll breathe through it and tomorrow they will hopefully be gone.

Amazing how these things raise their ugly heads out of the blue, isn't it? Yep. Old habits die hard. One can only smile, breathe deep, acknowledge, and move on.

My ego has also come up with all kinds of crazy rationalizations as to why I should stop feasting...this was especially true for me during the first two weeks (*knocks on wood*). Renovate,

This is numero uno for me...not exactly going into it from a raw place, either. Going to come out the otherside raw, though! It may seem like a big undertaking for a first-timer, but that tends to be my m.o. I did my research and prepared myself mentally as best I could,...and then one day I just felt ready to start...ready for a BIG emotional, spiritual, and physical shake-up. I've always wanted to run a marathon (maybe I still will). I actually started training for one once (not ever having run a mile before) and ended up injuring myself because I didn't have a good running foundation before starting (ran 9 miles one time, though :p ). This juice feast is sort of me laying the foundation for my switch to raw food. It's a juicy marathon! A summer juice olympics 2008!

I did attempt an MC in January. It lasted about 6 days and was a total disaster. It works for some, but it felt all wrong for me.

Aleesha! LOL! Great analogy! I guess I've got the t-shirt, too! Yay! It's real comfy, no? ... Beckx, now YOU have it, too! I sure hope I need a smaller size when this is over;)

Until tomorrow juicy friends!

i don't think people are being honest if they say they don't have the t-shirt! it's part of fasting/feasting. it's part of changing your life. you cave. you give in, you fall off the wagon... the important part isn't the falling or caving though. it's the strength to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get 'er done!

i started off with 2 back to back juice feasts during which, i became raw. didn't know raw existed... but i realized i needed it to survive. literally. i was on the paved, slippery slope to major disease. raw saved my life. I SAVED MY LIFE. i chose to become healthy. i chose to change.

so... with feasting... i choose to juice. i choose to continue today. tomorrow doesn't matter, neither does yesterday... today i choose to feast.

it's all a choice. tonight beckx went for a walk, cleared her head and found her centre so she could continue on her path. that's how it's done. a bath, a walk, a little time in meditation... a super yummy juice... whatever it takes. ;) cause we are strong enough, we are worth the effort! we are!!!

Hello Feasters!

It's been a while since I posted. Sounds like all of you are doing great and having fun with this. I made it for 10 days on the fast/feast. The last day I just pretty much had the Master Cleanse Lemonade. The green juices I was putting together was a little difficult to drink. The last green drink I made I had pulled out a couple of whole jalapenos out of the freezer. I thought they might add a nice twist to the drink. I figured since they were frozen not too much juice would squeeze out and it would be about right. I just couldn't drink it (my body was tingling) and that put me at an end. I felt like I didn't want to stomach any more green drinks so I switched to just lemonade and that hit the spot. Must have been using to much of a percentage of greens other times too.

We also got company for a couple of days so my will-power dropped.

On a positive note, this is an amazing feast to do. It really makes a person feel like they have accomplished something even if just for 10 days. I can just imagine how good you all feel that are still continuing. WAY TO GO! Keep it up! Just having some weight fall off feels absolutely fantastic to me. I will probably even start back up again before long. Seems crazy now that I quit when I had a good head start. Feel kind of ashamed that I gave up just because of company for 2 days and some nasty concoctions. Oh well, 10 days is a nice start for not having done a fast for more than a few days at a time (that's been years ago).

Sounds like the tomato juice is a winner! Just wish we had tomatoes from the garden already. That would have been perfect!

Stay dedicated!!! You can accomplish it feasters!!! GO, GO, GO!!!

Can I ask what a master cleanse lemonade drink is? I'm pretty new at this:)

Renovate,
The master cleanse is a fast that is done for usually 10 days I believe. The recipe is as follows:

2 tbsp lemon or lime juice (1/2 lemon)
1-2 tbsp of pure grade B maple syrup
1/10 tsp cayenne pepper (red) or to taste
8-10 oz of purified water

I believe the amount drank throughout the day is approximately 1/2 gallon. Also just plain water too.

Hope that is helpful!

hey look at it this way... you have a beautiful foundation for you NEXT feast!!! it's never a failure... only an experience!

last night i had this "aha" moment. it seemed like hours but was only minutes... i saw my entire life, all my choices before me... and i realized in that moment that ever choice i made... i made with knowledge and love. i never made them to harm, i made them to assist, protect and move forward. i forgave myself. i felt this warm hug wrap around me. it was sooooooooo beautiful.

hey guys. its the end of my first week!

aleesha that's a really wonderful thought. congratulations on moving past things; i'm hoping i'll come to a place of that kind of peace during this feast.

i've had three quarts of celery-green apple-kale so far because i only had half an hour to juice this morning and had to keep it simple. its a really good combo (though not as good as celery-green apple-fennel - yummm) and i'm fine with simplicity today but i think all that apple juice wasn't so friendly to my digestive system... that or my bowels came across some stuff today that they really wanted to flush out. i've been in the bathroom every 10-15 minutes for the last couple hours :/ but i'm back on the easy track today otherwise, which is good news. hanging out with the cats, making tomorrow's juice and going to bed early.

oh also i got one of those scales last week that does the body fat percentage and muscle and water percentages. i don't really get it because they don't add up to 100% so i don't know what they're percentages of, but it's interesting. my body fat has been steadily decreasing little by little and my water and muscle mass increasing. on juice! i knew greens build muscle but i guess i had to see it to believe it. i'm looking forward to seeing how that progresses.

Hello all,

Still going on day 1 and I'm tired of drinking juice already! Last time I did this the first 3 days were the hardest. I am drinking tea right now to mix it up a little. My body feels okay, my emotions are just a little off. I didn't mention this before, but I'm an emotional eater, which explains why they are off.

beckx
06-04-2008, 08:25 PM
renovate, now is the time to deal with the emotional eating stuff. ask yourself, what am i really feeling? then figure out how you can make yourself feel better, whether it's reading, taking a bath, watching mindless television or a bad movie (or a good movie), going to bed early, going for a walk... etc.

you can do it!

Hola Feasters!

Thanks for the encouragement, Rinda. Nice to hear from you again! 10 days is just fantastic! You've done a great thing for yourself...like Aleesha suggested, you have laid a wonderful foundation for futures feasts, should you decide to do more...I can relate to the nasty green concoctions. I had three days in a row like that and wondered to myself how I would ever get through 92 days!

Yes...it certainly is only about today...sometimes just this one moment...I hit another rough patch earlier today. I had a "moment" where I was feeing stressed out and overwhelmed. I considered whether eating something would make me feel better. Hmm....debating...debating...sitting on my steps feeing sorry for myself...more debating...Umm...nope! Had some water instead and just sat with the moment...Oooo, it took all my might to snap out of my cranky, self-pity party (which had zero to with juice feasting in the first place). And then the feeling passed...It always does, doesn't it?...Now I I feel so proud of myself for just "sitting with it" and letting it go on by...(Whew! not really a close one, but a tough one!)

My husband is really into my juice fast now. He's so proud of me...can't believe that it's been 18 days since I've "eaten" anything. He really wants to see me succeed and is always asking me, "Can I get you more juice? Do you need some more water?" Very sweet for sure.

Threw some baby fingerling potatoes in with my green juice today. Yum!
Also made cantaloupe/blackberry/strawberry...wonderful!

Aleesha,
I got an invite today to an all day bachelorette party for one of the weddings this summer. (*Gulp*). So far, no one knows I'm even doing a feast except my family. I might have to fess up that day...it would seem pretty odd to not eat or drink all day...

Oh Aleesha,

What a wonderful "aha" indeed! I have Angela Stoke's Juice Feaster's Handbook. In it, she says to watch for life changing experiences after day 20. It seems like we've all had them virtually since day #1:D

Beckx,
Wha Hoo! Congrats on finishing up week #1 !!!! Nice going! I'm so glad you're on this journey with us. I like your idea of simplicity...I usually only make two different types of juices for the whole day. One green and one fruit. Lately I've been making an extra bit of fruit to carry over to the next morning so I have something to drink while I'm making the next day's batch. I have zero interest in continously cleaning my juicer, so I find myself making all my juice for the day at once. I try to drink the green first, because I feel like the "goods" in the fruit hold up longer in the fridge.

Renovate,

Don't beat yourself up. The first 3 days ARE the hardest...your ego and your body start asking all kinds of questions. Namely, "Hey, what's going on? Why are you changing our program?" Then come the protests: "Don't do it! We like things the way they are!" Each time you move through these "moments" and respond to these questions and protests, your true SELF gains more strength and presence. Maybe it would help to write down a list of why it is your juice feasting and what you want to gain from this experience. Then when you start to wonder "why" you can look at your list. You CAN do this! You ARE worth it!

We're here for you!

Hello all,

I have been attempting a "spring clean" fast for a while now, only to allow myself to be distracted by emotional eating. Lately I am craving some pretty junky foods, and while I have stayed true to a clean and mostly raw diet, I am NOT feeling optimal and I am NOT craving fresh fruits and veggies. I need a physical and emotional detox. Also, lately I have been working out really hard and loving it, which has caused me to push back this fast, as I do not want to cease the workouts.

So, my plan is to start a 10-15 day fast on friday. During the fast I will still workout but nothing too strenuous. Mostly water exercises, pilates and yoga. I also have a goal of completing a book that I am reading and journaling each day during the fast.

Your thread is an inspiration! While this will not be my first or longest fast, it always helps to have motivation and positive forces to check in with!

i didn't realize after day 20 is when the "aha" moments begin... i agree with you, they started for me almost immediately. it's been such an amazing experience. i can remember sitting on the bench, under our grandmother tree and drinking frozen slushie watermelon juice when my kids were gone camping... feels like years ago and yet... it was only weeks ago. i'm changing so much. honestly, i'm not at all the person who began this feast. housework was NOT something i wanted to do. i just ignored it and hoped it would go away LOL now i'm a cleaning machine. i am sweeping the floor constantly... spent almost 2 hours going nuts on my bathroom the other day LOL and it's a small room!

my house is completely different. so clean and organized. can't wait to get to the yard but it won't stop raining here. i am soooo ready for summer weather! normally we get good weather beginning in feb. this year... the good weather hasn't started yet! very odd indeed.

i'm going to go check out angela's book... i'd like to read it. i have so many books i need to review for my magazine right now and yet, i'm only resonating with books on fasting/feasting right now. can't even open the rest. oh well... they can wait. this is where i am in this moment and it is right and perfect!

i was sooooooooooooooooo hungry today. but for some reason i just wasn't into juices... so i did a lot of water instead. i just finished 36 oz... i guess i'll be sleeping ON the toilet tonight LOL

well, i'm off to bed. sleep well fellow feasters... may your dreams be filled with inspiration and less odd than we've all been experiencing so far!

when we wake up... it'll be today again!

Hello feasters! Thanks for the guidance and inspiration. I love hearing about those aha! moments. Welcome Butterfly:). I too, am keeping a journal as I fast. It's going to be wonderful to look back and see all the change. Aleesha- 25 days, wow! I wonder when I'll be able to say that. Yesterday went well. I spent some GOOD time last night meditating and journaling. I have been an emotional eater for so long I'm not even sure how I got through my last 14 day fast. So I am suprised I made it through yesterday! Honestly I'm the kind of person who gets energized from other people. So I know I couldn't do this alone. I have been decogested and have a head cold for the past 4 days, but with this fast I know I'll be rid of it within the next day or so. I love it when the toxins release from my body. Here's to another great day of feasting!!! Cheers!

The green juices I was putting together was a little difficult to drink.

I did that with my tomato juice the other day. Thought I would never drink another to be honest. Then I had a little talk with myself and remembered to keep it simple! So... I went back to my most basic tomato drink. AND LOVED IT!!! I have to do this with green juices as well. I can't do the complicated green juices. I have to keep them simple so I'm adding more spirulina into my juices to assist with the greens. It seems to be working for me right now.

hey guys. its the end of my first week!

aleesha that's a really wonderful thought. congratulations on moving past things; i'm hoping i'll come to a place of that kind of peace during this feast.

oh also i got one of those scales last week that does the body fat percentage and muscle and water percentages.

wow... your first week!!!! congrats!!! that's a huge accomplishment. only 12 more to go!!! you will get to where i am, and beyond. trust in that. it'll happen.

i have one of those scales as well. i take my full measurements once a week. you can see on my blog how things are changing... wait i'll go get the info and paste it here:

Measurements from Day One and then Day 14 and Day 21 of Juice Feast:

Body Fat % - was 46.8 (high) - Day 14 - 43.9 - Day 21 - 41.5 (34% is the top end of recommended %)
Total Body Water % - was 41.3 (low) - Day 14 - 42.2 (better) - Day 21 - 43.7
Muscles Mass % - was 28.6 - Day 14 - 29.1 - Day 21 - 30.1
BMI - was 32.8 - Day 14 - 30.7 - Day 21 - 30.2
BMR (Kcal) - was 1571 - Day 14 - 1518 - Day 21 - 1506
Weight: was 189.4 pounds and now it's 174.4 pounds

Hello all,

Still going on day 1 and I'm tired of drinking juice already! Last time I did this the first 3 days were the hardest. I am drinking tea right now to mix it up a little. My body feels okay, my emotions are just a little off. I didn't mention this before, but I'm an emotional eater, which explains why they are off.

perhaps you could embrace this. become an emotional juicer! when you are feeling emotional, drink 2 large glasses of water or juice. replace that need to eat with juice... and see where it takes you. i would think it would "flush" out the emotions and take you to a deeper place of understanding.

Hola Feasters!

Ellen

Ellen, that is so cool about your hubby. He is truly a great partner!

I'm leary about juicing potatoes since they contain toxic materials... I would think in juice form it would not be good for us???

An all day party... perhaps you'll be able to inspire some of them to Juice Feast as well! Who knows what opportunity this may bring!!!

Oh Aleesha,

What a wonderful "aha" indeed! I have Angela Stoke's Juice Feaster's Handbook. In it, she says to watch for life changing experiences after day 20. It seems like we've all had them virtually since day #1:D

I picked up her book this morning... what a great read! Everyone who is interested in juicing or is juicing should have a copy (only $13.00)... For anyone wanting to - you can pick up a copy here! (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=1001278&affiliate_banner_id=1)

Hello all,

So, my plan is to start a 10-15 day fast on friday. During the fast I will still workout but nothing too strenuous. Mostly water exercises, pilates and yoga. I also have a goal of completing a book that I am reading and journaling each day during the fast.

Your thread is an inspiration! While this will not be my first or longest fast, it always helps to have motivation and positive forces to check in with!

This thread is amazing isn't it! I'm finding so much strength from everyone's posts... really inspiring me big time. Welcome welcome welcome... *clinks juice* - pull up a cushion and join in!

Is this your official progress thread?

Also, what happened to Eveleaf?

I am starting tomorrow... I am having to jump in. I have a refrigerator full of greens from a CSA, and am picking up a few more vegetables on Saturday.

I am on an extremely tight budget right now, so I may feast some days, and water fast others. I really want to get through an extended feast/fast for personal reasons.

And, believing that my needs will be met in the process ; ).

Are you supplementing? If so, with what?

Many blessings to you!

Lauri

eveleaf is probably off juicing.

i'm supplementing with MSM (1 T per day with orange juice) and spirulina. A little hemp oil when I remember... other than that... nothing but juice!

Hello feasters! I've been trying to shake this "want" for food for the past few hours! It's killing me! Not really, but you know what I mean. Suprisingly enough since I'm not emotionally eating I've been able to look at other things from a different perspective the past day and a half. I am getting in touch with myself again. I took out my guitar again and started playing. I've had that thing sitting in a corner with a broken string for about 5 months now. It used to be one of my dearest joys. Maybe I'll start actually enjoying more things while I'm not eating. What an exciting thought! My body feels okay, I just have had a slight headache for awhile. I know it will pass. Good Lord, this is discipline!!! Stay strong everyone! One day at a time...:)

i had a good day 8! i feel really physically tired today and had a couple of points during the day where walking up some stairs seemed like way too much effort. had a few moments of longing for solid food; i've always really enjoyed making lists and i thought for a second how fun it would be to list foods i'll get to have my first week out of the feast. then i realized that activity will probably not be that fun for another twelve weeks...

tomorrow i'm hoping to have higher energy. i haven't been doing much in the way of exercise so far besides hula hooping and walking, but i always think the elliptical machines are probably doing something good for my lymphatic system so i plan on going to the gym for a little while tomorrow. i also plan to do my first hot/cool shower ever... thinking about it makes me shudder a little but maybe i'll love it.

so i think i will have an even better day tomorrow. :)

hang in there, renovate! you're doing awesome.

oooh, a shoulder stand would be good first thing in the morning. does that mean i can skip the hot/cold shower? ;)

guys i've been meaning to ask, does anyone's mouth periodically get really really dry during the day? i'm drinking a ton of water; maybe too much? i find it really hard to believe that it's happening because i'm dehydrated...

Hi feasters! Happy Thursday!

Today has been a great day for me (#19). No big surprises or Earth shattering news...just chugging happily a long.

I went out with some friends tonight for a few hours. A friend just graduated from the police academy and wanted to celebrate. I finally had to come out of the closet about my juice feast. A few people thought it seemed outrageous at first, especially since I haven't eaten anything solid for 19 days. They all started asking the typical questions: Aren't you going to pass out? How do you get enough protein? Where do you get fiber? Aren't you hungry?

I was great to have the opportunity to talk to people about it. I just let them ask questions if they were interested, otherwise I acted as though it was no big deal. It was interesting. People started to gravitate toward me and seemed really intrigued by the whole thing. They all ended up being very supportive and wanted me to keep them posted on how things are going. It's amazing to me the misinformation out there on nutrition. Gads. It's no wonder there are so many sick and tired people out there. I'm so grateful I will no longer be one of those people:)

Beckx,
My mouth is oddly dry in the morning sometimes, and occasionally during the day, too-especially after green juice...crazy since we're taking in so much liquid, right? Must be some science behind it. Glad day 8 went well for you!

Renovate,
Way to hang tough! You can do it!!!!!!!! Funny you picked up your guitar again. I've started playing my piano again on this feast. Maybe we should get together and write a ditty about juice feasting LOL!

Aleesha,
Hi!! Oooooo...hot springs! Sounds like you had a great day...you would have been proud of the enema-less BM I had today! :p

Lauri,
Welcome to the thread! Glad to have another voice here! Re supplements: I'm taking MSM, cascara sagrada, and the occasional B12. I also take flax seed oil occasionally, when my body asks for it.

Have a great night juicers!

i'm not a fan of the hold/cold shower so it's not fair for me to comment... but i can tell you i am LOL :P

my mouth almost always feels dry... it's called DETOX! :P honestly it is. that's what makes it feel like that... so just remember to brush your tongue!

Hi feasters! Happy Thursday!

Aleesha,
Hi!! Oooooo...hot springs! Sounds like you had a great day...you would have been proud of the enema-less BM I had today! :p

Ellen, Day 19, wow, two more days and you are done 3 weeks... that's amazing!!! I'm so proud for you. :) AND I'm so proud of your BM!!!! You know how I love to hear about it!!! (even though my hubby begs me to shut up LOL)

My experience at the hot springs was amazing. A guy and his wife were there and starting talking to me. I shared about my raw experience and my juice feast... I didn't know why as I don't do that but... it came pouring out of my mouth and they were so interested. I gave them a link to this site... so perhaps we'll see them around sometime.

Then I met a woman from Hawaii and we chatted about tattoos (as I have a full sleeve, both calves and my feet tattooed)... so that was a very cool experience indeed... indeed!

I meditated in the springs and my daughter and I did our special hug.

I hold her... my arms wrapped around her and hers around me... her legs are also wrapped around me. We close our eyes and send love from our heart chakras into each others chakra. It's soooo powerful. We just hug and gently turn in the water... passing love... then light... then joy... then bliss... then love... then compassion etc... This continues for ... I don't know... 10 minutes??? It's amazing. The connection we feel from it is immeasurable.

What a great day. Spiritually this feast is bringing me gifts I never dreamed of. My forgiveness of self... my deep meaningful meditation... my personal growth... I'm in awe of this journey and I'm only on Day 25... oops just checked... Day 26. I can't imagine who I will be by August 11th.

What a gift to give myself. (((hugs)))
